It looks to me you are still blaming Gaal's inability to dominate games on Moyes. This is ridiculous considering these were the same excuses last season even when Gaal bought 6 new players including Di Maria, Falcao, Blind, Rojo, Herrera, Shaw.

Gaal had January to correct any mistake. Then he had another summer this year. Remember this Gaal was hired before the end of 2013/2014 season. He had enough time to plan his recruit.

Find another excuse for Gaal and remove Moyes from the matter. Gaal met all the players that played for Ferguson except Fabio. He already could see the areas to correct from Moyes mistakes, instead he went to the scratch to train the team on the Philosophy. Another manager would have just made adjustments here and there.
If you read the whole submission you'll see where I stated the crux of LvG's problems. Nobody has said he's the perfect chap - my point is when his method is placed side by side with what we saw during Moyes' era, then there's no competition!

A lot of trash talkers on this thread with infantile way of thinking. Lvg is a failure like moyes, moyes would have done better with the amount spent. Thunder fire anybody that feels his opinion alone counts.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nyabinghi(m): 1:52pm On Dec 10, 2015
Lvg is a fraud, how can a coach be so clueless, he is the new gollum. Three straight losses to swansea, two losses to arsenal even one at old t, crashing out of ucl in the first round(a big taboo), losing out of capital cup twice in quick succession to lowly sides, wasting united's money like a prodigal son, he deserves to be shot.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 2:06pm On Dec 10, 2015
KILL URSELF.

SAF crashed out of the UCL on three occassions that i can recall. He even finished last(4th) in a group dat had Benfica, Lyon and Villarreal in 2005. And went on to lose 4-1 to Middlesborough all in the same week. Yet, the world did not end.

A quick reminder

We crashed out from a group that had the likes of basel and otelul in 2011, why all the unending wailing? Were we going to win the CL before? Chelsea and arsenal that qualified yesterday will get knocked out in the round of 16 or quarter finals and they will be out of any competition in europe while we'll still be in contention for a european trophy, not that I care about it anyway

End the wailing abeg, e don do

Abeg free dem. Let dem keep gnashing their teeth on top Moyes.

Anyways, i feel we should be serious with the Europa. At least a Semifinal finish. Its just dat we dont ve the squad depth to compete on one front. Let alone two fronts.

the foundation has to firm or the success will be short lived.

Foundation?? Meaningless Possession Football?? After spending so much money?? Really??

What happens to the "foundation" when we employ a better tactician with better ideas??

SailorXY:

perhaps City should return their first EPL for capitalizing on the naive executions of the last few games of Man United? So the same Spurs that was brushed aside without breaking a sweat is now a factor in last term's top 4 finish?

After the 21st round of games, we had a paltry 37 points... same as we had in our previous campaign under Moyes. Ofcourse, the difference was that we were in 4th & 7th positions respectively...

The fact that LVG didnt even have the burden of UCL and C1C at that stage ( MK Dons had routed us 4-0 in the 1st round of the latter), is a big indictment on the Dutchman..

SailorXY:

@ that stage I didn't hear complains & the reason was simple. We were air-dropped into the jungle bare-footed, someone came along, offered us sneakers. It's not the ideal solution but an improvement on the situation.

For how long do we continue with this mentality?? This is Man Utd FFs. undecided

SailorXY:

we dropped to an all time low the moment Moyes came on board. LvG was appointed to steady the ship & we know it is not a day's job. After the 5-3 defeat to Leicester, the conservative approach we all loathe came into play.
If you have travelled on a sea before you can confirm that you never attempt to sail when your ship is rocking against unfriendly tides; or you capsize!

Excuses like this are synonymous with supporters of clubs like Westbrom, Bolton etc, trust me....

We surrendered a 3-1 lead to lowly leicester, only for us to lose 5-3, and you actually support the "Conservative Approach" that has seen us offer virtually Nothing in the Final third this season?

Like seriously??

SailorXY:

Rewind to summer 2013 & tell who Woodward should have appointed as manager.
It is easy to stare @ the club through your rear view & scream alawaiye.

Of course everyone wanted a breathe of fresh air from the pile of shyte Moyes was serving us...

What we are saying is that we shouldn't be were we are today, and that the "anything-better-than-Moyes-is-satisfactory" Mentality has to stop.

This is Man Utd, one of the Biggest & Most successful clubs in the world. The earlier we break free from the mental shackles of mediocrity Moyes brought on us, the better.

SailorXY:

we are making progress, I say it anywhere. These frustrations stem from the actual pace of the progress.

Thank God you agree with the bold part..

We have spent a quarter of a billion pounds on players, loaned out the ones we felt aren't ready...yet we are still biting our nails to the frustration of getting knocked out of the C1C cup in October, kicked out of a very easy UCL group in December, and an indifferent form in the league (I dont care if we are in 4th position).

If we had limited our transfer budget to 50m with the intention of depending on academy players, one wouldnt have any reason to complain...

SailorXY:

Let's not forget we are ravaged by injuries copped on the pitch, & no it's not the same as injuries gathered on the training pitch as was synonymous with Moyes.
we have crashed out of a similar cheap group under SAF, finishing last! We have failed @ the first hurdle of domestic cup competitions under SAF but what we never witnessed was falling out of the top 4! Moyes achieved that feat - enshrined in his glory!

When you start comparing LVG's shameful records as a Man utd Manager to that of a serial winner Like Sir Alex, there's little i can say again..

Since It's pretty obvious your Own definition of progress solely depends on "being better than Moyes", make we rest the Matter jare!

I think LVG - DM argument should be halted or buried! Everyone is pained for losing out in the Champions League, but we shouldn't resort to thinking Moyes would have done better!
He was given a chance at Real Sociedad, yet he's fired in the end! The problem with United started with Moyes. We lost our winning mentality and Old Trafford's fear factor under his reign!
We were reduced to mid-table Team, and outclassed on many occasions by inferior Teams that would have been embarrassingly trashed under Sir Alex!
LVG is certainly not helping, but slowly we are getting up! Gary Neville has tasted the Hot seat, thus he wouldn't dare to criticise or condemn LVG as Scholes and Ferdinand are doing!
My submission is; LVG Should be paid off at the end of Session, and Woodward should do everything humanly possible to sign Pep or Ancelloti as plan B!

I think we've both made our points & my definition of progress is not "better than Moyes". If na your deductions tho, I'm cool with it.

Where I have issues is with those projecting "Moyes would have" "Moyes could have" & all that tabularazza when ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from pre-United or post-United remotely suggest the notion - egbon what does it profit a man to deceive himself?

Did we lose by 5 goals at OT under Moyes??

Irrelevant. This time during Moyes' era, the squad was jittery and lacked confidence. LvG's team isn't as worse as that. Compare Utd's league position at this moment in the season under both managers, the difference is clear.

I hate LVG's guts. But saying we would ve been better off with Moyes just bcoz he finished in the UCL QF and LVG got knocked out at group stage has to be the biggest lie of the millenium

feast on this DM vs LVG fans

Even the numbers are against Louis van Gaal. Pressure has been piled on the Dutchman following Manchester United's Champions League exit and the statistics sum up a lifeless showing in the group stages.

Even in his 10 months in charge at Old Trafford, David Moyes was able to guide United to the quarter-final stage where they were knocked out by Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Van Gaal's first Champions League adventure with United has been cut short and the club now face the prospect of the Europe League.

Here are the stats that make grim reading for Van Gaal..

We were already losing our fear factor under SAF in his last season. I am not for Moyes, but some facts need to be pointed out.

Was it not at Old Trafford Everton came from 2-4 to draw 4-4? That was a must win match to guarantee our title that season even if we lost subsequently to City at Ethihad.

Same season we lost to Bilbao 3-2
We lost to Blackburn 3-2
We drew Basel
We drew Newcastle
Lost to City 6-1
All at Old Trafford.

2012/13
Tottenham beat us at Old Trafford.
City beat us at Old Trafford.
Struggled to beat Newcastle, etc

Before a team that came to United just come to surrender, then defend all through to see how to reduce goals to concede. Maximum of one game lost at Old Trafford in a season. From 2011/2012 teams started believing they could beat us at Old Trafford until Paul Scholes was recalled from retirement. Paul Scholes retirement also affected Moyes. Players like Scholes come once in a while .
