My friend is 24, a graduate, and does a fairly paid job. He recently started wooing a 16-yr-old SS2 student through her aunt (The girl lives with her mom's sister). According to him, he wants to nurture this girl probably for marriage .

He told me about it today and I was stunned. He said he wanted to get as many advice as possible, so he'd know the next line of action to take..

Ok let's start with some options:
1)When he was in university, did he date any girl? If no, then he as phobia for matured girls and he can't walk up to them
2) If yes dat he dated, what happened that they broke up..except he was using money to date them, so now he's thinking a little girl will not do the same
3) Maybe he thinks that since he's not working well, he won't be able to get a matured lady to date, so a small girl will be good for now
4) There are guys that just believe in dating small girls, mayb he one of them
5) He might av asked matured ladies out and they always reject him and he just decided to stay with a little girl dat will just say yes
But in all, he shud tell you the real reason He is picking that girl and let him know that his money spending it on the girl won't guarantee him the girl because girls can change esp wen they enter univerisity..he shud go build his confidence level and start talking to matured ladies..no matter the number of times a girl say no,one will say yes one day..so he shud keep trying

Joke aside. My friend if you have good intentions for the young lady, try discussing it with elders in your family. Not with NairaLanders.

Also, I would say you're taking the right steps. Btw, I'm almost 30 and my date is about 8 years younger. By my calculation, by the time she's approaching 24 and getting ready to finish higher institution you would be in your early 30s. That's a perfect combination.

As for what to do next, I would say you're in for some challenge. She may be shy about dating someone well older than her. That's very likely. But try to keep her company and always care about her welfare and educationFARE. Make your love for her show. Even if she tells you she has a boyfriend, don't kill yourself over it. Just advice her in a way a father would advice a daughter. If you can get her to confide in you concerning such issues, then, you're on the right track. Don't even mind if she tells you she wishes to marry one boyfriend of hers. You have to give her the space to express her teenage fantasies. It's her time. It will pass.
