Hello good people. Update on my Waka. I initially planned to stay in Sacramento, but mehnnnnnn DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GIVING BIRTH IN SACRAMENTO!!!! The cheapest hospital i got was UC Davis for 15,700 (discounted o, but it covers EVERYTHING - hospital, doc, visits, tests, ultrasound, postpartum for baby and mum). There are some cheap county hospitals like Riverside county, couldn't go there cos I have family in a lot of places so didn't see the need to pay for accommodation anywhere.

To cut the long story short, I yaff ported to Fort Worth, Dallas. Using Texas Harris Methodist. Hospital fee VD is 4200, doctor is 2300 (but there's a first appointment fee of 350), sonogram 192. Those are my fees so far. The doc is veryyyy nice, takes her time to explain anything u want.

Still chilling and waiting for my darling LO...

You are fine especially as your husband did the talking. Besides you can be in the US for vacation & birthing together. Like you've been advised, pay all bills & keep your receipts close. I know lots of mums in your shoes & as long as they didn't owe uncle Sam (US Govt) they were good & have renewed their visas.
Confirmeroptima:
I have paid the hospital bill already and the doctor bill already.

I didnt know of this trend until I was introduced to a Nigerian taxi cab man-Chris-by a friend's sister who also told me about nairaland paltform's on delivery in the US. I must say that the driver has been good, affordable and very warm.

Is it a fraudulent thing to come in wthout declaring. Am getting scared with different comments. Am not fraudulent and am not going to run away, I just want a good medical attention and other associated other benefits. Am prepared to pay my bills. I only need clarifications and possible intervention after reading loads of messages on this platform I became concerned and worried about many people travelling with declaration at the point of entry.

Pls what should i do exactly.

Please mama's in the house I need a hospital in Houston that is cheap lets say 5000dollas for everything thanks

HI,
Check the first page of this thread. There's a link there that might be of great help to you. You wil rarely be spoon-fed here so you might have to do a lot reading. From part 2 I suppose. To make it easier, use the search button for info. I will suggest Oakbend, but picking a hospital is not so straight forward. So try to read the thread from part 2.

Good luck

hello all,

can someone please give us a comprehensive expose on the tax refund for the US?

I know people have given bits and pieces of info but I have not seen anything that details the steps (I stand corrected though). Checked online but it's not very clear..

For example,
What states have this refund that have been tried and tested?
What tax exactly are we claiming the refund on? i.e the sales tax? the city tax ? other tax? etc
On what items can you claim the refund (for example in the UK u cant claim VAT refund on children's clothing)
Can you claim on items bought online? Within the US?
General process?
What to do when you get to the airport, do you go to Customs?
Do they pay cash?
Other details? Is the whole thing worth the wahala?

To the mums planning towards houston there's a deal on dealdey today. But it's Qatar airlines so you may not be interested. I read on this thread that they're not nice for pregnant women. I've flown them once but I wasn't pregnant.

Please ask about adding baby to a ticket before buying tickets on ANY PROMO.

El Paso is still consistent with its prices and services. El Paso is experienced with birth tourism since it is a close distance from Mexico.

tried to do it some yrs back in Houston and it was just looong!

They couldn't tell me directly how much I was getting back and they were going to send the refund as a check like 2wks later.

From what I observed, it was a private company doing it (not the govt) and they were also going to take a commission.

This was at Katy Mills mall, not sure if thEy're still there, it was one of those stalls in the aisle (close to the movie theater). There's also one at the Galleria close to the Neiman Marcus shoe dept exit. They were closed when I went (it was a Sunday), but I really Just wanted to know if it was the same company as Katy Mills.

The sales lady at Neiman Marcus Just advised to go up to their customer service and show my passport for an international customer voucher (or something like that) for 15% off which I did. They asked for my ticket to confirm that I was really a visitor and I Just showed them on my phone. Macy's has something similar and I think it's better than the stress of refund.
