https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FGv9aOCcyU You can watch the video and this explanation then submit your rebuttals . Williams Craig mentioned in the video that the Canaanites were, according to ancient history outside biblical text , morally despicable wicked people . And that their culture was grossly immoral, decadent even to its roots. The Canaanites practiced divination, witchcraft, female and male temple sex, adultery, homosexuality, transvestitism, pederasty (men sexually abused boys), bestiality and incest. And if you look at Genesis 19:30 -36 we can see that after Sodom - a Canaanite city - was destroyed by God , daughters of Lot made their own father drunk - this according to history was one of the sexual practices known to the city (incest) which was just annihilated . The Canaanites also practiced child sacrifice. And according to Lev 18 : 21 God had commanded that the Israelites should never give their children to be sacrificed to Molech . Here is what Molech looks like : Molech was a Canaanite underworld deity represented as an upright, bull-headed idol with human body in whose belly a fire was stoked and in whose outstretched arms a child was placed that would be burned to death And I discovered that it wasn't just infants who were victims of this nauseatingly wicked practice , even toddlers were scarified to Molech . Also note that archaeological evidence proves that the children were burned to death in their thousands . So much wickedness that God now commanded the Israelites to exterminate them after 400 years of reprieve . And according to Philosophers like Paul Copan all the archaeological evidence available indicates that there were no civilian populations that existed at Jericho, Ai, and other cities mentioned in the book of Joshua . Philosopher Paul Copan also explained that : “Joshua’s conventional warfare rhetoric was common in many other ancient Near Eastern military accounts in the second and first millennia B.C.” Therefore, phrases like “utterly destroy” (haram), or “put to death men and women, children, and infants”—as well as other “obliteration language”—were stock “stereotypical” idioms used even when women or children were not present. It decreed total victory (much like your favorite sports team “wiping out” the opposition), not complete annihilation. So William Craig was right . 3 Likes 3 Shares |

felixomor: Bro William Craig is a very knowledgeable man He made so many points to defend his stance . I even had to download his book "Reasonable Faith" to know more about his perspectives on different issues and to know if they agree with mine and of course to learn from him . Richard Dawkins is a very dishonest man who only seeks to besmirch the reputation of Christianity . Richard made so many false claims and pontificated in his book "The God Delusion" . That's all you get from atheists - lies , deception in fact anything bad . 6 Likes 4 Shares |

DelusionKiller: That has to be the stupidest analysis I've seen "yeah right... " is followed by something totally irrelevant to what you want to disprove . You must be a comedian of some sort . And I remember Craig saying that God also used other Nations to judge Israel . Israelites too were oppressed and slaughtered by their enemies anytime God permitted their enemies to deal with them whenever they become sinful like the pagan nations . So Israel faced the exact fate as the pagan nations . There was no partiality. That's what the Book of Judges is filled with - Israel facing God's judgement anytime they become sinful and behaved like the pagan nations and God delivering them anytime they choose to come back to Him by raising judges . 6 Likes 2 Shares |

KingEbukasBlog: Yeah. The funniest thing is you have some young people reading the funny Dawkins books tagging God as "genocidal, misogynistic" blah blah, without them ever reading the bible for themselves.. At the end of the day, they are just allowing Dawkins yo think for them. That is why any atheist who uses Dawkins vocabulary such as "genocide" blah blah in their arguments, I dont take them serious. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

KingEbukasBlog: I'm not here to argue, go back and forth like a hamster on a wheel while going nowhere in particular, I'm not here to discuss partiality with you because even if I point out the partiality to you you won't get it I have a good knowledge of psychology and It has been argued, and I would agree, that Christian apologetics are not designed to reach "non-believers", but are meant to reassure those who are already members of the tribe reassuring the sheep is the main purpose of apologetics. I'm guessing that's not even much of a secret among apologists themselves. all these excuses sound good to an insider, someone who already has faith that whatever his god does is just and fair and best for all humanity, that's the starting point for any justification and defense for certain atrocities commanded by Yahweh in the Bible so there's NO way you'll ever see anything wrong in it even https://www.gotquestions.org/Canaanites-extermination.html tried their utmost best to rationalise the genocide of the Canaanites but quickly fell back to the usual dogma when they (perhaps) realised there's NO logical way of doing this but at least they were honest enough to admit they can't possibly rationalise it unlike WLC My thread analyses the tissue paper thin excuse WLC gave for the slaughter of the Canaanites most of what he said as excuses would make sense ONLY to an insider, as an outsider however..... well let's just say he's making as much sense to us as you think he is 9 Likes |

felixomor: Lol , isn't it the same Dawkins that said that there is no good , no evil ? But God all of a sudden is being described as evil ? That guy shouldn't be taken seriously . So many inconsistencies in whatever he says And the fact is that atheists are not thinkers , they are not critical , anything that seems to denigrate God or support their wish , it is being embraced without questioning . That's how they kept saying that Mark is an atheist with no proof and some went ahead to publicly state that Mark is still an atheist despite superior contrary evidence that disproves their belief . Isn't that delusion ? 9 Likes 4 Shares |

I watched the 9 minutes video to the end. The preacher talks about Israel's action against Canaan alone. He morally justifies God's reason for asking the Israelites to displace the Canaanites and all casualties that may have resulted from that (including death of children). He mentions the case of Sodom and elaborates on how God wouldn't destroy it if he found 40 and less righteous men. As he claims, 'God didn't instruct the Israelites to kill the Canaanites'. I am dissatisfied that he didn't make precise reference to the bible verses to back up his views. Also, the topic is slightly misleading. It should reflect the fact that Canaan alone was critically considered and should hence read "Did God command genocide against Canaan?”. 7 Likes |

KingEbukasBlog: It is. The truth is they actually use blind faith. They are ready to believe unseen evidence once it favours Atheism and at the same time, criticize those who believe God for doing same. Hypocrisy... I just finished reading a scientific article that proves that atheism most likely doesn't exist. Because they have found that humans are born to seek out a higher power. Babies are born believers Only extremely few people are atheists. Many atheists would fail a lie detector test if questioned. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

KingEbukasBlog:Only a fanatic like you will use one genocidal act of God to justify another. What kind of person would see god murdering his supposedly chosen people as a good thing. The murder of the Israelites was as bad and unconscionable as the murder of the other nations. Unless you want to argue that two wrongs now make a right. And, there was impartiality. The fact that God only chose the Israelites as his people among abundant options is impartial in itself. The fact that they were even stubborn people either questions the omniscience of God or his judgment. Why choose a stubborn nation?? He could well have chosen a nation he wouldn't have to kill, it would still have been impartiality but would be palatable. And the killing of the Canaanites in particular was just so ugly of God. God in his claimed omnipotence could have given them an unoccupied land and blessed it for them. But no it had to be the land which had been settled upon for many years by different group of people... God didn't even send them out, he took the uglier option of killing them all, adults, children even animals. If one day a land owned by your family for centuries is grabbed by some other family destroying your house and killing your people, would u be able to say that's IMC l impartiality? 9 Likes 1 Share |

felixomor:No... It's not. U know why?? Because murder is unjustifiable, inexcusable killing of a human being... The only crimes punishable with murder in Nigeria are murder, armed robbery with wounding, e.t.c. No one has the right to kill any one on top land. If your moral compass tells u that the wanton killing of people including children is right, then I can't convince u otherwise. Shekau believes the same thing too 3 Likes |

The same William Lane Craig that is on record to have said that maybe God did not tell the Israelites to commit all those atrocities but they just wrote it down themselves in his debate with Eddy Tabash. This man is a Joke. If we are to go by his divine command theory then there is no need frowning at Islamic terrorist afee all they are carrying out the will of Allah and his judgement on the infidel nations. 5 Likes 1 Share |

felixomor:Stop comparing human beings to robots. Robots don't feel either physical or emotional pain. They don't have families who love them. Or does your god see u as a robot?? Answer this please. And, so because some of those countries use their kids kids for ritual, it's okay if God kills those kids?? Just like KingEbukasblog, you're basically saying two wrongs make a right. BTW, even your god accepted a Human as burnt offering, so... Again, children killed by the Israelites are not murder criminals. Or the two and three year olds that were killed as directed by god were guilty of some grievous offenses?? I feel like am arguing with Osama bin laden 8 Likes |

felixomor: Allah did not create you to function that way to. You believe he is 3 in one which is the most unforgivable sin evee. When he sends BH to you just know that he is sending his people to carry out justice against you because that was not why he created you. He created you to be his loyal slave. The same God that told Abraham to sacrifice his son unto him. So why is it that christians and Jews do not go about slaughtering people that sacrifice their own kids in today's world? 4 Likes |

that's the Canaan story... I've said something similar to what the man in the video said... he was able to point to a book that gave more information about the story.. although many websites tried justifying the killings, this man was smart enough to point to an external source that had more information for him to draw his conclusion.... his explanations make sense to a great extent as for me... I've not read the book he made reference to... and i wasn't still there... so i guess i still don't have enough information to draw conclusions 1 Like 1 Share |
