We really need to merge some of these states. The numbers are crazy. How can we justify this kind of poverty while running full governments with security votes and convoys? One day the poor will eat the rich. Beware.

Until now, northerners believed development would be doing the whitemen who own development equipments, a favour.

If most north weren't Islamic, they'd have been better off than what they are now.

Some are still foolish though

Akwa Ibom suffering it shows we need to more private sector growth in economy this civil civil life is no good. Hopefully the industrial city, port and general industrialization policy kicks off soon.

Does anyone find it interesting NE has lower poverty rate than NW?

regional breakdown

2.) SS-25.2%
3.) SE-27.4%
4.) NC- 42.6%
5.) NE-76.8%

Despite the undue proliferation of twenty new states and hundreds of local government areas in the north by northern soldiers, an act which resulted in most of Nigeria's oil resources from the south going to the north;

despite north holding apex political power for about 42 years of Nigeria's 56 years of independence, northern states still lag far behind. What could be the cause?

This list is better ignored as being unauthentic because no Nigerian state has a poverty rate of less than 50%. even the so called LAGOS has more poor people among it's population.

The South West Has always been The most Prosperous region of Nigeria since like day 1.
And It looks like it isn't relinquishing that position anytime soon.

That is why it has always been a magnet for Nigerians from everywhere. Even in an hinterland Yoruba state like Osun, you would marvel at the diversity of Nigerians from everywhere living there, from Ibo 2 by 2 shopkeepers to Urhobo palm oil workers, to Ebira and Idoma (Agatu) farmers, to Hausa petty traders to Edo civil servants, to Ibibio domestic workers. It is even more magnified in places like Ibadan, Ondo, Ogun and Lagos.

(respect to all the hardworking groups above)

Lol where did I celebrate at you dull child? I actually said my state looks bad and needs to improve. Btw SS not far behind Statisticly so I guess that makes your region trash aswell. The fact that this list offends you shows that facts hurt your feeling. Like I told other guy go cry to the UN.

PS. You guys can look at how they deverived stats and debunk them. We'll be waiting to see your counter arguements. I doubt u will since wailing and strawmen arguements are your only skill.

Anambra propaganda machinery is on overdrive dude. Dem go don begin flood U.N with enough petitions in protest against this report's conclusions. No be so Soludo recently out-of-nowhere claimed the state has the '4th' largest economy? This report is obviously a big blow to their collective ego. You never see anything. grin grin grin grin
