kudos to them, but this concerns my soon to be colleagues and not you, you will notice that in the medical field, the most notable people in top notch positions, the execeptional lecturers, even some provosts have had a resit once. People resit not necessarily because they arent good but because they didnt satisfy the examiners. There is a diiference. Attached is the result for the Faculty of Dentistry students... 45 People took the examination, only 10 people had outright pass [passed the three]. For the medicine class, less than half of the class passed also.

If u think ANT, BCH and the likes are difficult, then try Engineering Math(s), Mechanics, Structural analysis and design, Surveying...etc the list is endless

Note: most medical student don't know maths not to talk of further maths while in sec. Skul even till tertiary level.

Note: Anatomy can never be as wide as Physics.

You don't need to get into argument with medical students or doctors simply because you have some second hand experience about the medical life.

Humbly, I went through the med school without an extra minute. I was neither more serious nor more brilliant than my mates who were withdrawn up to 500L.

U're a big slowpoke. How do u know dental cut off is lower? Were u there? Can a medical doctor do the work of a dentist? He/she cannot. and likewise a dentist. What are u bragging for? At times, passing 2nd MBBS/BDS is not by absolute intelligence; rather, it's by hardwork and God's help. Even an average student who worked hard can make it than an intelligent student who didn't work hard. At times, it is caused by the lecturers. Have u studied dentistry to know if it is not as hard as medicine? At least, i know some medical doctors, who after studying medicine, go back to dental school to study dentistry because it is what they love. Also there are dentists who, after studying dentistry, go back to medical school.

In becoming an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the US (which is a dental specialty), there are a 4-year and a 6-year programmes. If u finish the 4-year residency programme, u become a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon; if u complete the 6-year residency programme, u become both a medical doctor and a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon. It's the extra two years that are just the difference.

In Britain, it is almost the same thing. U will spend 3 years studying medicine as part of ur residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and when u complete it, u become both a medical doctor and a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The same goes for a medical doctor who wants to specialize in oral and maxillofacial surgery; he/she must spend 3 years in dental school as part of the residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and when he/she finishes, he becomes both a dentist and a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Now, tell me the difference?

Note that if one completes the 6-year residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and if he/she decides to pursue a fellowship in head and neck oncology which is the area of otorhinolarygology (ENT), he can proceed. Now, tell me the difference?

Even the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or West African College of Surgeons, is it not the same residency training that the two professions undergo, and after completion, u become a consultant.

Now, let's go further. If a dental student doesn't know anything, it invariably means that a medical student doesn't know anything 'cos for the 3 preclinical years, they do the same courses, take the same exams (tests). It is only the remaining clinical 3 years that make the difference. Even in the remaining 3 clinical years, a dental student will still take pathology and pharmacology in 4th year with medical students and still sit for the same exam relating to the above mentioned with them, with the same marking. Thereafter, in his/her 5th year, he/she will do medicine and surgery with 600L medical students. I know u will say the med and surg they do in 5th year is shallow. But let me ask you: if it's shallow, why then do they take the same exam with the 600 Level medical students for that same Medicine and Surgery they were taught together with the same marking too.

Therefore, if u claim a medical doctor knows it all, does he/she ever know anything in dentistry? Does he/she know anything about malocclusion? Before u claim no medical doctor ever studies dentistry after studying medicine, google will be ur teacher instead of arguing blindly. At least, in the UNN Dental School, Prof. Chima Oji (a professor of Dentistry) first became a medical doctor in 1975 and then went back and studied Dentistry and finally became a dentist and consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon in 1981, all in Germany.

Ok, if dentistry is not good, why was Prof Foluso Owotade, a dentist and consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon, allowed to be the CMAC of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) and later became the acting CMD. At least, u and i know that the CMAC is the head of clinical services. Why was Prof. 'Tolu Odukoya (an oral pathologist), the past Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) allowed to be the CMD? Why was Prof. Abayomi Olaitan, a dentist and Consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon, allowed to be the immediate past president of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN)? And he was even the one that introduced CBT exams for the primary, part I and part II exams of the college. Even, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, the former Provost, College of Medicine, Obafemi Awolowo University, is he not a dentist?

Finally, oral cancers that are on the increase now, especially ameloblastoma and oral squamous carcinoma, who does those surgeries to remove them and rebuild the jaws and face? Even, cleft lip and palate surgery, who does it? I know it is a multidisciplinary surgery as is obtainable in other branches of medicine, but oral tumor and cancer removal, cleft lip and palate surgery, cancrum oris (noma) surgery, genioplasty, maxillectomy and mandibulectomy, etc fall under the work of a specialist dentist who is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Even the diagnosis of those cancers and other oral and maxillofacial pathologies and head and neck pathologies fall under the work of a consultant oral pathologist who is also a dentist. At least, a cancer survivor in the US once admonished the Americans that if they suspect any cancer of the head and neck, that they should not go to a general pathologist (who is a medical doctor) that he is not well versed in head and neck pathology, that they should go to an oral and maxillofacial pathologist (who is a dentist) that he/she is well versed in that area. She went further by saying that she first went to a general pathologist who stated that it wasn't cancer until she went to an oral pathologist who detected it immediately and thereafter sent him back to go and see an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. And likewise so many people with oral and facial cancers in the US whose cancer diagnoses were misdiagnosed by general pathologists. I know an oral pathologist can also make the same mistake, but just understand where i'm driving at.

Nobody is repository of knowledge. So, be wise. If a dental student can pass 2nd MBBS/BDS. he/she can likewise study medicine. The same goes for a medical student. At least, i have never seen a medical doctor doing the core work of a dentist. NEVER!!!

secondly,records have it that medical/life sciences students sit for the same chemistry exam and similar physics exam,then the results will prove a point to those who won't deny it..
In my year one in a particular university in the south west,
imagine more than 56As (I am talking about scores as high as 90s) in medicine alone out 123 students,17As in dentistry out of 35 students, similar in pharmacy but just 8As in Chemistry department,not more than 5As in physics department and it has always been the same except for some tech guys
and here you are speaking the PRIDE language we can't fathom..

you guys will be waiting till there is test/exam around the corner before reading,now have to crash read and get poor marks in consequence and come here to say your courses are harder than medical courses..
see if we read like you do,flourescent electron microscope won't be able to focus on our scores because it will be so insignificant..

students who could survive and were withdrawn from medical sciences go to other department like economics to make a first class honours and you are still thinking you do harder thing than they do..

let them try stipple chase or gaze and negative marking of an eye for an eye in your department and come and complain here later..

I could explain and solve problems in all the topics I read better than my classmates who were busy 'cramming'. If your lecturers no know Quantum na because them lazy. Wetin this one dey talk so? I never offered Add Maths at O' level but sat down and read it on my own to help me in Physics. Guess what? I could explain and solve problems in all the topics I read better than my classmates who were busy 'cramming'. If your lecturers no know Quantum na because them lazy. we wrote different subject @biology in lure of math..

oya u wana tell me its only biology that made medics blow good jamb score abi...

the math ure claiming, i did predegree in my school and everybody are faced with the same 5subject..
my brother, the gap we gave engineering student in mathematics and physic ..not to talk of bio and chem o
i fit call God na only one engineering guy just came close in math..

be like say u never jam medico for arithmetic /technical exam once thats why u sound like this..
u say medics dont know math..

mind u forget runs ..in nigeria most of the best brain in science secondary go for medicine..where we have math phys and chem at the same base..

we got admitted .. we all did same science course in year one with ur so call math and physics. engineering guy no smell our grade ..some were saying we bribed lecturer self. we just they look them

our grade in year one shocked faculty of science
esp zoology dept where we do year 3 & 2 zoology in year one,,

medics result came out we smashed it more than does in the dept ..

just feel like WTF say medics dont know math..
