Op, de best tin u gotta do is go learn a handwork. Forget about searching for job. honestly I dont knw why graduates still believe in searching for jobs after graduation. me too I was a graduate, av passed ur stage, an still in it sef. but am learning a handwork and it's paying so fucking well. Am a phone engr, I do mobile repairs, flashing, unlocking and upgrading. u can imgine hw we despise de little tins in our society, something u might be considering as a low income job might actually be ur savour. I remember wen I was in primary school and my teachers wud be like (read ur books so u wont end up as capenters). now carpentry has upgraded and those guys make huge amount of money from their job. wat about keke repairs, electcal installations, computer repairs, both hardware and software, wat about painting, barbing. my man jus look around u, u will surely see somtin to fit in. De world is big enof for everyone

I believe in Handwork.

Ihebu4chelsea:
oga so because I want to be Rich I should stop doing what makes me happy? are you serious. do you think it's by hard work? listen young man I do what has to be done and pray for the best. so don't tag me a lazy person because Chelsea is my username.. am sure you don't know the joy football gives me
I only echoed what many people feel about some of you here. I never said you were lazy but perceptions matters in life. I believe you are a graduate. Let your appearance and doings portray you like a serious minded individual it will not even cost what makes you happy. As a Hr if I ask of your Nairaland username and you give me this, it will send lots of things in my head. Likewise if I have business and wants to link you up seeing ur username alone will make me stop. It's all about maturity. You are not more Chelsea fan than P'square or even my uncle who are registered members and even travel to England to watch them. But ever seen them add Chelsea to their name. Not even a local league of ours that one can say u are promoting our local content but an outside entity that you have no stake in and you attach it to ur username. It amount to clear unseriousness and joblessness simple that's the first message it creates.
I hope you understand better.

[quote author=blackpanda post=60883702]Many of ur youth are the architect of their own problem. They are practically unemployable with zero skills. After blocking and cramming thru university, they pass out with wonderful degrees but zero experience or skills]

Oga it's not always that way, u sef cram wen u were In schl na, I mean am in schl to learn and well my lecturer decides not to teach me properly wat I am there to learn, I will only do well to cram for exam purpose knowing I mustn't fail to move on, and also attimes this think we learn only start making more sense wen we put them in practice. Until then u might not successfully know wat u don't know. and talking bout cases like accting, finance...

That's great but telling him $500/month wouldn't help him mentally in the job. You also need to write well to get bids. You also need a Payoneer or Paypal account which is the easy part. 200-300$/month should be his target now.

Thanks for his, bro.

Just Search Deep down inside you, you'd find that One thing that you can do effortlessly. Relate this one thing to a useful purpose why you're here on earth.

Try to go to God in prayers and then seek all necessary knowledge concerning that one thing and develop it continuously. You'd be doing great in no time and will be a boss of your own.

Example, I studied Geology and graduated with a very high 2.1 but I'm naturally an artist. I'm not waiting to start looking for a white collar oil job but I need to develop this art in all diligence. It's not all rosy but I know I'll be great.

so what if singing is that one thing he's good at and passionate about? is that not another heavy investment seeking, highly infested and over populated field where success is nearly never guaranteed. its a screwed up country mhen but hope is never over valued

This is my story too, you just said everything wrong with me. I pray God make a way for us soon. Amen

Keep hoping, praying and believing.

Everybody was once a fresh graduate and crossed this stage.

The main secret to getting a job is GET BUSY. Look for a generator repairer, attach yourself like IT student, learn it.

Look for phone repairer, do same thing, look for decoder installers learn it. You will be the person running away from work. You will make big money.

By the time you place all these SKILLS on your CV, employers smell POTENTIAL from far.

when its time for elections, you people won't even vote someone who understands what you are going through.

Let me say this any man who made it in life or joined the elite class before the year 2,000 won't understand the plight of unemployed youths.

Aside that, not every human being has empathy.

They did rather buy cars and clothes and flaunt for you, and fake hungry youths will still hail them.

Good.

If it is populated already, then what stops you from joining and contributing your own quota rather than standing by the side and lamenting as if you're totally helpless and hopeless whereas you are not?

My fren' get busy and stop making up excuses.

The fact that there are a thousand restaurants in your city doesn't mean that you cannot stand your own restaurant, okay?

You don't necessarily have to get a general skill.

Nothing stops you from trying to specialize and become an expert in any chosen field you are passionate about.

So let me ask you this: what exactly are you passionate about?

sir I tell you it is not that easy as you see it. I agree with you in that fact that one must do something but haven't you seen frustrated craftsmen? Have you not noticed people jumping from one business to another every now and then? Even the something you are talking about can its proceed be enough to take care of your needs, brother it's a tough world we are just coping. To your question what am I passionate about ? I like working with my hands craftsmanship, production, traveling, middlemanship, negotiating.

I feel no sense of entitlement, sir. I have roamed the streets of Kano and Kaduna seeking teaching jobs and all sorts - all to no avail. I recognise that I have to start from somewhere.

Thanks.

OK. Thanks, again. This is quite a lot of help in one post.

I studied economics. So I'm learning eviews and spss. My aim is to venture into data analysis or academic writing.

Herein lies the problem. U need to ditch that idea of wearing suit and sitting in an office. There are a million things u can do to earn income. Academic writing, what does that even mean What u need is courage. U need to summon courage to move ahead. Forget corporate white collar jobhunting

There is nothing like working smart (Unless you are a con person). Quote me anywhere.

Salaries are quite late in coming in now, but I know I have sacrificed a whole lot of things just to gain another skill I think might aid my bank account.

You should ginger people to take life by storm, instead of buying into their lamentation and cries!

All yhu shouting this and that the op is not serious..time heals things.. Everything is still 6feet under the ground. So u betta not be over comffy with ur present situation. Imagine 100yrs from now. Where will all these our noises, position, ambitions be? My advice is that we should not in our bid to be rich and get our have soiled in evil deeds. I'm not lazy neither so dont bring in that with me here.
Since the day my younger sister died and buried, life has been Vanity with everything therein because at the end is still vanity

Vanity six-feet under the ground.

Thanks for drawing my attention to this, bro.

Actually, I have been writing freelance for a while now. I was on Fiverr for about two years. Unfortunately, I had just three repeat customers who kept coming back for more. Whether it was down to my using a Nigerian IP, I'm not sure. Think my highest earning in a month was about $95.

They closed the account sometime this year. I haven't tried opening another. But I would on your recommendation.

Thanks.

Have you tried writing screen plays/movie script.

I'm thinking in this direction presently. Think I've had enough of roaming the streets for jobs.

However, academic writing is quite helpful, especially for individuals like me who lack startup capital for business. I've been writing for a while now, so I try to venture into different industries.
