'Regretting' shouldn't be the word to use here, rather, say, 'Challenge'. If you are truly regretting, then simply give your life to fictitious Jesus and return to Christianity. How can someone be regretting if he feels that he has made the right decision?

In my own case, I have never regretted for once my action of leaving religion. Why should that even be the case when my life had become better for it?

Sounds like you probably got what you deserved. Entering a whatsapp group to supposedly give it a "twist", probably doing the typical atheist nagging routine by instead of having a decent discussion, you just insult those who disagree with you. Now you come here complaining about your regrets as an "agnostic atheist", your greatest regret should be your rejection of God and your acceptance of atheism/satanism.

LIKE FOR REAL.

THE STIGMA ATTACHED IS WORSE THAN THAT A KNOWN, CONDEMNED KIDNAPPER OR RITUALIST FACES.

IN FACT, GIVE PEOPLE THE CHANCE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN A DREADED CRIMINAL AND AN INNOCENT FREE THINKER,

THEY'LL PICK 2 CRIMINALS OVER THE FREE THINKER.

BECAUSE OF THIS USUAL STUPID REASON; "AT LEAST, THE CRIMINALS KNOW GOD AND MIGHT MAKE HEAVEN IF THEY REPENT, BUT THE FREE THINKER, SURELY, IS THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE, DESTINED FOR HELL".

I have a domineering and seemingly focused personality... the story for me is the other way round. Religeous folks feel stupid around me. They are scared of arguing with me... can they even afford not being friends with me? I am both fun and interesting to be with.

I meet someone for the first time and he is dissapointed I am an atheist, but he quickly gets over it and only promise to pray for me... sometime they leave with "i am sure God will touch your heart one day" and I reply "I am waiting"

my friends and family dont have the confidence to relegate me, I am confidence itself... how can u use what I have against me.

Jesus kept the company of Zacchius, he kept the company of Mary Madgalene, who he encountered as a renown harlot. Jesus took Matthew, a tax collector(who were known to be very corrupt in those days), as a disciple. He promised a hanged thief paradise at Golgotha. He healed the children and servants of Roman pagans. He even had a cordial debate with Nicodemus, a great scholar in the sanhedrin council, the same sanhedrin that sought his arrest.

So if you want to justify your bigotry, don't use jesus, he just doesn't fit into your petulant narrative.

PS: Jesus said "love your enemies", how can you love your enemies and still shy away from their company?, that makes no sense.

My good friend. The stories about Jesus are replete with him spending time with those whom he was not supposed or expected to spend time with (Tax collectors, prostitutes, Samaritans, Gentiles, and so on). "Love one another", the words read, and not, "Only those who believe as one does". It is specifically the lesson of the Parable of the Good Samaritan. You do know that they, Samaritans, were going straight to hell according to the understanding of the Jews of his day, and Gentiles never stood a chance in a million years and some, nor did tax collectors?

And, we are not talking about what Jesus, who it is written, as the "head of the house" was called Beelzebub, and was said to have "a demon in him". I doubt you would get your head around it if I were to ask you, "how much more the members of his household!”, since an atheist cannot dwell in the same house as your sort, I assume, according to your understanding of the individual you call God, perhaps.

From my reading, he set extremely high standards and demands on those who would know of him and wasn't one to turn his back on people who do not believe as he did. He would not be a hypocrite who condemns others for what he himself would do. You, however, may understand as you wish.

And note please, I have never said I, "know Scripture"!

I am an atheist. People in the Church I used to and sometimes still go to know this. I tell them when asked, and they do ask since I draw the line at eating the body of Christ or drinking his blood. One does not have to act loving others, and being an atheist does not make it impossible to love others. If they do not understand that in as much as they love me they have loved their God in heaven whom they see not, then so may it be.

Wow, i have gone to school from childhood till today. I have had teachers and instructors, i don't even remeber some of their names, yet you are here implying that because those teachers/lecturers and instructions, came to my class and taught me, they kept my company. Do i have any dealings with them outside the class rooms? No.

Can we pls understand 'Keeping company or association' within its context here? Making friends and confiding in each other is the context here pls.
What was Jesus doing in the midst of these people you mentioned? Teaching them because He was a teacher or pallying with them becos they buddies? The only friend i knew Jesus to have was Lazarus of Battany. Was Lazarus tax collector or were his sisters prostitutes?

budaatum:

"Love one another", the words read, and not, "Only those who believe as one does". It is specifically the lesson of the Parable of the Good Samaritan.
I agree with you o, sir. Here i am having this discussion with you. I love hence am telling you about the Kingdom of God which, if you believe and do what it says, you'd be saved, this is love.
I can never see a boko haram man who is sick and needs help and i pass him by, i will never see a hungry man and I have food or can ask someone who have to give to him, but refuse to do it. This is love. Sir, because i can do all these doesnt mean these people becomes my buddies whom we share our personal thoughts.

I have a duty to help and relief their pains and needs, but if they ungodly and unreasonable men. If these are men who can be eating the food yet maligning my God at the same time, sir. My duty stops at providing their needs. No buddying up.

They can enter my bedroom and have hearts to hearts chats with me. You get me now?
budaatum:

You do know that they, Samaritans, were going straight to hell according to the understanding of the Jews of his day, and Gentiles never stood a chance in a million years and some, nor did tax collectors?
The Jews do not determine who goes to hell or heaven. The Lord Jesus does. And he said, 'Whosoever calls on the Name of the Lord, shall be saved'. He said whosoever. Whosoever means, any and everyone, regardless of race or colour. That is why you African Christians, Chinese, Japanese, American, Arab, Jewish, and Spanish Christians. Every race is welcomed.

But, any human with a soul who rejects the Life that Christ is here to give, will go straight to hell when he dies. It has nothing to do with whether or not you are a Jew of Samarithan.

The requirement any one needs is the Nature or Life that Christ offers, this is the only guarantee you need to access the presence of God, you don't have it, you are out. Dress code kind of thing.

G.N.T. Luke 11:14-15
Jesus and Beelzebul Jesus was driving out a demon that could not talk; and when the demon went out, the man began to talk.

The crowds were amazed, but some of the people said, “It is Beelzebul, the chief of the demons, who gives him the power to drive them out.”

I believe that you know that for a demon to work through a man, he must possess that man? Jesus just cast one of such demons out of someone in that verse.

If Jesus was accused of having Beelzebub in him which helps him cast ouy demons, what will you call that? Haven't they called Him Beelzebub?

Yes indeed, The Master set very high standards for us His followers to follow, that is why we are studying what He did so as to also do.

Sir, the Master gave, and gave until He gave His all, His life for the World. But, he never took into confidence those who hated him.

John 2:23-25
While Jesus was in Jerusalem during the Passover Festival, many believed in him as they saw the miracles he performed.
But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew them all.

There was no need for anyone to tell him about them, because he himself knew what was in their hearts.

Hmmm, All the names you mentioned were or became disciples. They repented of the former ways. They didn't stand and insult him while they kept each others comapy.

And, you call Mary Magdalene a renown prostitute, you are very wrong, for a prostitutes never marries to be caught in adultery. It takes a married woman to commit adultry, not a prostitute. Mary Magdalene was never a prostitute.

Zacchius repented and pledge to refund everything he had taken by fraud 4 times double. That sir is repentance. Matthew became an Apsotles.

Pls mention the names of those who plotted to kill Jesus at every stop, those who bore false witness against Him whom He kept their company.
EVarn:

He promised a hanged thief paradise at Golgotha. He healed the children and servants of Roman pagans. He even had a cordial debate with Nicodemus, a great scholar in the sanhedrin council, the same sanhedrin that sought his arrest.
Why didn't He promise the other thief? Could it be because the other thief relented and asked for pardon?

And how many of those Roman pagan did He fratanize with after the healings?

As i remember Nicodemus went to Him, not Him to Nicodemus. And he became a disciple. He helped buried Jesus.
EVarn:

So if you want to justify your bigotry, don't use jesus, he just doesn't fit into your petulant narrative.
Friend, i think you shd understand your scriptures before you call someone names.

The Op said, he gave a twist to the discussion which he had with people who knew him personally about Jesus. What we shd ask him is, 'What exactly did you say? How did you twist things?

If what you people say about Jesus here and how you people insult The Master in a faceless forum is taken to facebook in the midst of those who know you from home, then you shd'nt expect anything less.

To tell you the truth, if you are my friend but have a nag at calling my fathet names, i won't keep your company. Call me whatever you like. If you don't have a problem your friends calling your dad a thief and a drunk, then that's you

EVarn:

PS: Jesus said "love your enemies", how can you love your enemies and still shy away from their company?, that makes no sense.
And He also said Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psalm:1:1
He said Come out from amongst them and be sepaerate, do not touch what they touch

Love them, is not the same thing as keep their company, for you loving them does not mean they'll love you back. You are sheep amongst them (Ravenning wolves). See how atheists hate Christians here. Some can poison me for just being a Christian. See boko haram bombing people. But love them, if i see them hungry, i will give them my last meal.

Even here on nairaland it confirms itself. Atheists do nothing but talk about God all day every day yet they say he does not exist. Any Christian that opens any thread about God trust the atheist vultures to fly to it as always cheesy

True, we 'atheists' "cannot do without God". Our entire existence evolves around God. Yet, we are not exactly "atheists", which is a labels you stick on us and which we adopt for convenience. Much more than atheists or theists, we are all human beings. A fact we very easily forgot, it would seem.

That said, yes, amongst other things that I may happen to be, I am an atheist. Though not the sort who is "against" gods or "just without" gods, but the sort who knows that gods do not exist outside the minds of those who create them, and that they only exist inside the minds of those who have accepted the ideas created in other peoples' minds.

I only insult the likes of felixomore and analice who after not being able to keep up with me get personal.

Like i said show me an instance i insulted... i have had good conversation with many people here u can ask vaxx.

How do u even want me to handle frustrated Christians who gets insultive when they cannot hold unto a discussion? Pet them like babiez when they go all insultive? Nahhh i slam their head in the wall and shift them aside.
