op why didnt you just ask google the question directly instead of posting it here. i cant even believe this kind of question is coming from a guy. this is the kind of question "girls" ask not guys. some men really possess woman qualities. the future is female indeed. you dont know what your problem in life is. this sh*t aint supposed to come from a guy on a public forum. you are just seeking attention. WELL WELL ACCORDING TO THE POSTER ABOVE ME. SINCE YOU ARE GAY, TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND TO STOP EJACULATING INSIDE OF YOU WHEN NEXT YOU BOTH HAVE SEX. I SUPPOSE THERE IS TOO MUCH SPERM IN YOUR SYSTEM.
so obesity is a respecter of gender?

do you go to work?
Do you have a car or take cabs? Trekking more will help

it's your afternoon meal you have to skip

Next stop eating meat!! And fish!! Eat eggs and vegetables
Reduce you oil and stop butter completely (and of course some say bread, Personally I don't eat BREAD or tea)

(I trimmed from 89kg to a stable 77kg between March last year to this March so I know)

NOTICE I DID NOT ADD ANY OTHER EXERCISE BUT TREKKING.
Any distance you can walk in 5-20mins don't use a car WALK DOWN. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY - WALK FASTER.

Good luck

Disagree with the oil bit, yes avoid most aniimal fals but some oils and fats are ESSENTIAL for life.

Also oils take much longer to digest like protein and so keep you full for much longer.

Certain fats especially those used in the baking indstry should be avoided but there are other so called "good" fats

so one needs to enhance what I call nutritional literacy and know exactly what everything they eat contains and does

Develop a lifestyle of eating healthy food when this becomes a lifestyle after you've lost weight you just continue eating health meals. Eat fibers, fruits and vegetables, walk regularly if you cant exercise and stop eating late at night.
Re: What Meals Do I Need To Avoid To Stop Growing Fat? by ceenote: 2:49pm On Apr 14, 2018
Stop eating things like sugar, rice, garri, pasta etc. Basically, replace high carb diet with food low in carb. Also, desserts and sweet drinks don't help your weight loss either.

You can also try intermittent fasting like 16:8. Depending on your work schedule, you might skip breakfast and eat first meal around 11.30 an. You next and final meal for the day would be after work.
Goodluck.

ELiminate carbs as much as possible. Replace your carbs with healthier alternatives in fiber and veggies. You might wanna go for a keto diet.

Stop rice. Eat oats and lots of veggies. Eat more proteins like beans.

This is the best you can get that will work for you. A little exercise should also be added.

In short any dietary advice for NIGERIAN people in Nigeria?
Quaker Oats, bro. I chose oatmeal because of the fiber but beans is also a good option. As for yoghurt, you might want to use Peak milk without sugar or Cowbell with sugar. Avoid Bournvita, Milo and bread. In short, adopt beans as the standard breakfast, add whatever you like to it except bread and sugar. Corn is a good addition, I'm not sure about fried plantain but the oil might get too much.

Eat whatever for dinner, just in moderation and before 6pm.

dont be lazy.
If you must be serious u need to know what each food has in calorie content.

do some Google check.
1cup of garri has about 300-360calorie
1cup of semovita has about 600 calorie
1 cup of wheat/oat meal has about 160

Now to lose 1kg you need to burn 7000calories
and that's very hard to do.
There are wristwatches that are sold online that you can wear to monitor how much calories you have lost either during work out or at the end of the day.

So you can eat garri , but make sure you don't surpass your daily calorie limit.

How do you know your daily calorie limit, google it.
there is a site that helps calculate it, I don't want to post the link coz I would be breaking the laws.

I need about 2300cal daily.
so if I eat a food worth 3000calories and I burn 700calories., technically I would not lose weight.

Stop eating bread or any food made from flour. They are loaded with carbohydrate which is eventually converted to sugar. I know, it is hard to say but trust me once you start, eventually, you won't miss them. Eat yam porridge or beans porridge instead.

Don't eat rice except maybe once per week or on Sundays as is customary in most Nigerian households.

Stop drinking soft drinks. They are loaded with sugar.

Stay away from alcohol, especially beer and spirits.

Eat more food with vegetables - vegetable soup, egusi, ogbono soup, ewedu are all okay. Drink akamu with sweet potatoes or akara when you can.

Drink lots of water. The weather in Nigeria is hot almost year round and requires that you drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Drinking water also helps flush your system and greatly aids in weight loss. Eat every meal with two 50cl bottles of water or two 50cl sachet water.

If you don't like exercise, it's ok. Not everyone does. Just do some walking everyday. If you take public transportation to work, get down from the bus a few bus stops from your final destination and then walk the rest. You can also do the same on your way home. Don't drive yourself everywhere you have to go when it is within walking distance. Walk instead or take public transportation which will make you do some walking.

If you follow these instructions, you should see the weight come off within a reasonable time.

I implore you all to start from this day to monitor your calorie intake.
see pictures of spaghetti and Noodles pic I took just to explain better.

Spaghetti is 500grams, but 100grams of spaghetti is 365kcal. Check the Kcal not Kj.

Now if I finish one spaghetti at one sitting maybe lunch.
it means I have consumed technically 5 x 365 = 1825kcal

Now maybe my body needs an average of 2000kcal to maintain its weight but I have taken just 1825kcal on spaghetti alone, u see the problem.?
By the time I add breakfast plus dinner plus small chops I have surpassed my body's daily target

What about Noodles?
see the pic below
one 100g size of noodles is 450+
but guys can eat 3 packs at a go that's (3X 450 = 1250kcal).
1250kcal on just noodles alone, I no add eggs o + Coke to wash it down.
lool

Start checking the calorie intakes guys!!!
Plenty sites exist online that can help you determine your body's daily target.
You need to lose 7000calories to lose 1kg
stop jonzing yourself with keto diet or clay 9 and all that bullshit.

Eating those keto shit is just u starving yourself of your daily target, 500calories daily deficit is the recommended way to go.

After one month of keto, u will start binging on food and come back to your old size. Exercise is the best & stress free way while watching your calories intake.

Guy you are rude.
What does laziness have to do with anything?

I am not a mind reader so I have no way of knowing the basis for you oatmeal claim.

If it was simply down to calorie requirements there would be no need to mention any particular food. We could just "CALCULATE" and drink lucozade or glucose

Diet is not just down to calorie counting.

Satiiety is very crucial . Some foods digest very quickly while others take much longer
Fats and protein take a longer transit time and their digestion actually consumes more calories than carbohydrates
.
Also some foods for unknown reasons have been found to promote weight loss when compared to foods with equivalent calorie counts hence my question. I thought you were going to provide interesting insights

If its just down to calories let us focus on Yam plantain rice amala and eba and those other foods that Nigerians can relate to and not all this oatmeal and yoghurt mularkey.
Truth is it is NOT just down to calories. There is a reason why men without changing anything start to put on weigh in their 30s and 40s and why this weigh is concentrated around the abdomen.

So any dietary advice must be bespoke.

What works for a 25 year old may not work for a 50 year old. The metaboli efficiency is simply not the same due to a difference in hormone profile and muscle tone.

I put some links in that post where you can check the number of calories in Nigerian foods, I don't want to paste them again so I don't get banned.

What I was trying to clarify was whether oatmeal specifically has any superiior performance compared to other carbohydrate when it comes to weight gain for equivalent calorie content.

Such claims have been made for wholegrain bread/rice ovver white bread /rice.
So calorie equivalence does not mean that the body has an equivalent efficiency in extracting calories from different foods

The fact is if your main source of calories is sugars then your risk of weigh gain is higher than if it was protein.

This is where the role of hormones like insulin come into play.

The human body is not a perfect thermodynamic system. That model is very pedestrian

Keto diet is very unhealthy. Though u will rapidly lose weight but will later double it.
Don't avoid carbohydrates. Ur body can't do without. U try that, i bet u, u will crave for it the way u crave for water and will end up binging. Ask tjise who go into keto diet. Just reduce the quantity and go for the healthy carbohydrates.
Chicken breasts and meats are good source's of protein but most times we end up frying them thereby eating loads of calories again. More fibres related food is very good too.
I do frequent the food section and from what I have seen, an average nigerian don't know how to balance food. Most of the food I see there are more than 2000 kcal per meal, excluding the drinks and snacks.
Sighs.

I'm adding excessive fat on my cheeks, laps, and my stomach is beginning to protrude like I mistakenly swallowed a calabash.

I understand losing weight is 70% dieting and 30% exercise, so I need help to know the meals I need to avoid and what I need to take also to help shed some of the weight. I'm really keen on dropping down to at least 72 by the end of this year.

I do my sit-ups and I have cut down on my late night meals but I'm not seeing much improvement.

I asked you a question withoout offering any opinion. So all this Phd argument is diversionary.
I did not mention any keto diet
Not all calories are equal as far as weight gain is concerned in my view.
100 caloiries from biscuits are a worse option than 100 from beans
The biscuits will enter the blood as glucose and the beans as amino acids
The glucose will trigger an insulin response the amino acids will not have the same effect

The fact is 20 year man has different dietary requirements from a 45 year old man.
The latter has a greater propensity to visceral fat which is fat surrounding the main organs in the abdomen.

My question is does oatmeat perform the same way with other cabohydrates with an equal calorie content? In other words is there any merit to the advice to avoid white bred and white rice or does it not matter as long as the calorie content is the same?
