There is a 20% gain/loss possibility within a given trading day.
To illustrate;
Assuming a stock Y closed @ N5 on a market day.
...then given the new rule for a maximum 10% gain or loss, the stock can trade at price bands of plus or minus 10% when it opens for trade the next market day.
This means that the coy can drop to as low as 4.50 (which is a minus 10% loss) or move up to as high as 5.50 (which is a plus 10% gain).
A person who manages to buy at the price band low of 4.50 and sells the same day at the price band high of 5.50 has made a 20% gain. (5.5-4.5/5 x 100% = 20%).
...on the flip side, one can also lose 20% on the same day.

If ur using an online trading platform, u would've observed that there is a 10% price boundary both on the bid and offer side of trade.

I have since highlighted these rules long before now.

Regards.

Thank you for the explanations

I appreciate

Yes my dear.
...just edited and corrected the mix up.
It should be an approx 22.22% gain, but a 20% loss.
The price band setup is such that the maximum % gain within a given trading day is slightly higher than the maximum % loss within the same day.
...this would however, depend on the opening price of the said coy in a given market day.

I sincerely do not like this new rule. This means that our targeted prices will be breached far before planned re-entry period!

Agba, you better break down your journey. Your prices might mature before you reach village prompting you to make a u-turn. No waste money on TP.

For instance, NB shows 'NB 12 Nov' ; 'Nestle 23 Nov'. What could these mean? No mind my ignorance o. cheesy

Y’all are bunch of one-way thinkers.
Always quick to calculate how much you gonna make forgetting how much you can equally lose.
Whatever makes it get to -10% can equally make it close at that price and continue the -% the following day.
So before you start jubilating think about what will happen after you bought.

BTW the MM you banking on to fall or rise prices for you are blocked!

Wheww. I drew you out. Remaining Sir Loco.

You really think one wouldn't consider that bolded? LOL.

Meanwhile, it's not only MM that trades. Normal trades can as well draw a commodity from full offer to bid, and vice versa.

But this not mean that the Stock has gained or lost more than 10% daily price limit?

You read the ruleS but only carry 1 for mouth.
Oga you read this part ?

NSE is introducing the NSE Official Open/Close Price (NOOP). The NOOP/NOCP is established from the opening/closing match, i.e.the Open/close price is not set to the Previous Close Price/Last Sale Trade.

undecided

In simple terms, this means that a stock does not necessarily have to open at the previous days closing price, and does not also need to close at the last trading price in a given market day. (...irrespective of whether the last trade fulfilled the rule of a block volume, based on the given stock category)
Unlike before, these are no longer pre determined factors.
...that's basically what the NOOP/NOCP rule entails.
This is bound to encourage a wide but better volatility, increased market participation from both the retail and domestic portfolio investors.
Overall, the entirety of the new rule is very healthy, and would surely drive up a lot of liquidity in the market.

Though complicated, but any smart investor should know how to benefit from this rule.

...there is more to come !!
