Oga it is God in heaven that saved me. I have never seen a 28% loss before on my portfolio but with Caverton, I realized it.. Thank God I sold 75% off already before the crash. I need a small breather to sell what is left before the final collapse or I will just take it as a learning point.

forex reserves

“In this country, we survived when the reserves was at $24bn; from there, we moved to $31bn, and now we are at about $47bn. So, I don’t see why we should be worried about this. Our reserves position is so comfortable that we can deal with any eventuality,” the Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr Isaac Okorafor, said on Thursday at a press briefing after the Bankers’ Committee in Lagos. #news

Inherently, there are no "failures" or "losses", just experiences that allow you to learn, grow, and evolve into something you're currently not.

Sorry for that. I feel your pain though. But please be aware that those things are more or less ponzi scheme that shouldn't be ventured into unless by those that know the tricks of how to dine with the devil.

Long term investment in Nigeria stock some time is a big risk.
Warren Buffet came from the part of the world that long term investment work perfectly well.
The part of our world has not gotten to that level yet.

Foreign investors comes to our stock market with big amount of money, and always bail out with huge amount of their money whenever the atmosphere is about to change.
Taking my advice is not compulsory but of choice.

I still maintain that cash is king is better than averaging down.

When I said cash is king, I don't mean that one should withdraw his/ her money and keep it under a matrass.

The money can be channel to treasure bill, fixed deposit, or remained in ones account to receives little monthly interest, while one wait for bonanza period to take nice position.

Being in a particular stock must not be for better for worst affair, unless you are the owner of the company.
Some times in Nigeria, the owners of the company take off their money from the company, and left empty company to the ordinary shareholders.
cool

that's the sad thing about Nigeria

I personally like to hold stocks for the long term, and I take my investments in the NSE as an expense (as crazy as it sounds) and collect the dividend as cash flow

So no matter the price of the stock, as long as the dividend keeps coming, I'm fine

But because Nigeria is Nigeria, investment for very long term (10 years plus) is a big risk undecided

You have inflation risks, forex risks hostile business environment, ans faulty corporate governance to deal with

Naija factor

But I think I will stick to my strategy tho

It's spare funds I consider as expense I throw in there undecided

the key is learning to overcome ''loss bias'' . . it's d toughest mental struggle, i keep working at this
the question u need to ask is : WHY didnt u close the trade when it dropped to $6k or $5k or $4k or $3k or $2k or watever?
Cutting losses is the number one job of any trader / investor ( guess daz why trading is stressful)

Interesting BUT

1) Stock market is by definition for LONG TERM investment. So how long has your investment lasted before the loss of livelihood?
2) Do you see investment in stocks as BUYING a company/business? If YES, is that COMPANY still in operation? Is that company still profitable? Is that company still paying dividends? Is that company still growing? If YES to all the above, you've got nothing to worry about.
3) LASTLY never us SHORT TERM funds for LONG TERM investment.

Please, market will always go up and down. Never believe anyone who tells you he/she is able to time the market.

Expectations MUST be managed.

Thanks Oga Wanaj0. Your short time fund should be invested in risk free asset class like treasury bill,Commercial paper, Certificate of guarantee.

Short timing the market for huge return is a recipe for disaster. You may get it once or twice, the market will surely bite back.

The coins i'm talking about is Ripple, i still have the volume i bought intact, just the value dropped. Since the world is gradually moving towards digital currencies, I didn't trade because i felt one day it will rise back or better. P. S Thanks for the advice.
