see this one ooh

foreign companies are getting smart now in Nigeria, many now pay minimum wages just like Nigerian companies, the high cost of running a business is real in Nigeria, pay minimum wages and gain lot of profit.

just because it is foreign does not mean they pay well..most foreign companies pay according to minimum wages even the foreign oil companies

the US salary of chevron worker is different from a chevron Nigerian worker of the same role.

Not significantly though...

Let me share my own here, went for an interview, spent the whole day at the venue, was the last to be interviewed, the HR went through my cv and credential and told me that to be honest, that I suppose to be the most qualified for the job, but her hands are tired at the moment, she started asking me y I came last, I told her that I didn't want to argue with other applicant, that I went out to buy a bottle of water, when I came back they hv shifted my bag to the last chair, I comfortable went there seat and relaxed, that was the reason I was the last to enter her office, she said that her hand are tired at the moment, that there was nothing she could do, I thank her and walked out, I was at the get leaving the premises, the receptionist ran after me and said that they re calling me, I became hopeful, I went back there they ask me y I want to leave my former place of work, I told them that it is personer, they said OK, that I can go, I left there, after a week she called and said that the CEO want to see me, I told her that I was not in town,

Because that’s what pays the bills. In the western world where they are “not so obsessed” with money, they have lots of support-government et al.

In Nigeria, you’re on your own and you have bills to pay.

I see.

But I still think you guys are so obsessed with money.

The most shocking part is that you guys want the money without actually putting in the value.

How does that work?

I already have a stable job tho but I just thought of attending interviews with the aim of either greener pastures and to experience what most job seekers pass through. I'm a pharmacist though

The First was a job vacancy advertised on nairaland by an online firm in UK, they needed an online health rep.. The interview was on WhatsApp..They drilled me with so many research questions, gave me deadlines to submit and I always wowed them by submitting before deadline.. The interview process took about a week.. The next week..They called for salary negotiation..I was so excited but my excitement was cut short when they told me they're paying according to minimum wage..i was taken aback..even though I opted for part time..30000 wasn't cool because I knew their rep in uk won't be paid same wage..i told them that I should be paid same as the person working in uk since it's almost same job description but they said they'll pay according to country's minimum wage. I told them even a part time pharmacist cant earn such amount..she said Nigerians are obsessed with money..started giving entrepreneurship gospel bla bla..I just kuku lost interest..lol
Paying according to minimum wage doesn't mean you will be paid 30k

If you know your worth you will never settle for less. A U.K. based company that has staff doing same job in the UK as one in Nigeria should not be paying such ridiculous amount. That company wants to capitalize on the unemployment situation in the country as well as graduates' desperation to secure employment.

America go to China to set up companies because of cheap labour cost. Business men take every opputinity they get to cut cost. You get luck say you no really need the job. That's why you fit follow them rake

Ignorance is really holding you down.

you are the ignorant person here, where in nigeria do foreign companies pay you the same salary as their staff based in their main countries

A US chevron staff receives a different salary from a Nigeria based staff even though they might be doing the same job

Think outside the box bro. Today is only 8th of the month and I have already made more than 75k. So, by the end of the month, I'm already looking at more than 300k. And I just finished NYSC in 2017.

The problem is that most graduates are too fixated on being employees or job seekers. None wants to think outside the box.

As for fresh graduates earning 150k, I tell you it is possible. Some of my friends in the corporate world started earning around that in their first jobs.
Please can you put me through in your line of business? I find your submission very interesting.

and you think a skilled programmer will collect 200k...so what is the difference between the foreign company that pays someone 30k and you that want to pay a skilled programmer 200k.

Learn to start little.. 30k job is sumtin.. Dat won't stop you from looking out for other jobs..

Comparing wot dey pay in UK to nigeria is none of ur biz..

Even in some companies in nigeria, they pay some people high and some people low... same job role and same qualification ..

Please read what you wrote and see if it makes any sense.

If he takes a job of 30k which will require his full time without being able to do any side hustle, will that make any sense.

Can he feed, transport himself, pay for rent, cloth himself with 30k.Paying him 30k means they are telling him to sustain himself whichever way financially even if it means stealing.

Is it because our silly govt pays minimum wage of 30k and you still see the workers building houses, training kids in school etc.If the govt was wise wont this be a source of concern as to how they are making ends meet.

Thats why in advance countries you have what is called a fixed minimum wage per hour which is enough to cater for basic needs.

God bless you. I believe the OP messed up. When someone says you would be paid according to the prevalent minimum wage in your country, it doesn't imply 18 or 30k.

I think the OP lost that job based on his aggressive ignorance.

When they said they will pay with minimum wage doesn't mean he will be paid 30k, you should understand that the lowest paid worker eg security guard now earn 30k. It mean the salary will be calculated base on minimum wage

Skilled does not mean experienced.

BRO! I know people who earn as much as 3,000 US Dollars in Nigeria who work remotely for companies outside of the US & they live in Nigeria. Not that I heard from someone, I know them Face to Face.

Chevron doesn't pay the same International Rates, Yes. But they pay considerably very high, that even earning that same Salaries in US would be good enough for you. Imagine earning 800k in Nigeria in Chevron which is more than 2K USD in US. You are still doing very well.

Your knowledge is limited. So just rest abeg.

it's because the economy is not fair to anyone and as such we have to opt for the best from it

U don't have to be experienced before u are skilled as a programmer

If u leave school with skills in programming languages, u are skilled but not experienced.

Shut up and stop arguing blindly.

That is the trade I av done for more than a decade.

I have managed and recruited a lot of programmers during that period.

Before you argue with me on what u know nothing about, once again, shut d fck up.

true. Americans exploit cheap labour forces in china but skilled/educated labour is a different. They earn better. Mayb not as much as d u.s equivalent but better. Also, the chinese economy is a tampered one. The govt manipulates the market forces to meet its economic objectives rather than let market forces operate freely.
Chinese are no push-overs! . Theyre sense of national pride is at an all time high. China is the next biggest economy . It will eclipse the u.s.
