Thanks Bertram87;

I think I will go with your suggestion, it looked strange to me drafting letter of sponsorship for myself;

Thanks for your suggestion.
Bertram87:

Hello George009,

I am not a guru, but based on your question and from my point of view, you don’t need to draft a separate sponsorship letter for yourself. Just improvise with your SOP/LOE, explain in details how you have planned to fund yourself and also your dad’s co-sponsorship, mention he has paid for your first term tuition fee, with evidence. He should also talk about it in his letter of co-sponsorship.

And importantly explain briefly and show some proofs for how you got the money in your account. I hope you understand now? I am sure the gurus will shed more light.

So this supports my earlier post that Banks do not disclose closing balance to a 3rd party.. Justwise this is coming from a banker.. Peace
Fabelurin1988:
Oga there are bankers here. First bank will never disclose your closing balance with 3re party be it embassy.. Never!! What they do is verify the documents and authenticate it. That's how far first bank will go.

Sir I went to banking school, even though I nor finally work for bank, to the best of my knowledge the bank will not disclose your current closing balance to the embassy, only confirm what was printed in the statement since you printed it and gave it to them.

From what I see, the only way the embassy can get your current closing balance is if they suspect that the money was put there just for show and they request an updated bank statement.

This is why it's still good for people to leave the money there or even add to it until they have been approved and received their passports.

Declaration: I worked in three different bankers for over a decade. My last role was a team lead in a unit of Internal Control of a bank and part of the responsibilities of my unit was liaison to different embassies.

Response to the issue: The major request for embassies is the confirmation of authenticity of bank statements (which indirectly includes the closing balance and other areas of the submitted bank statement). This confirmation of authenticity is as at the last date on the submitted bank statement and not the current date. If the last date on the banks statement was July 31, 2019 and the request was made on September 16, 2019. The confirmation will be genuineness of the statement as at July 31, 2019 (note: not direct stating the closing balance but the response indirectly includes if the closing balance is correct or not) and nothing related to September 16, 2019. Again, banks will not state the closing bank, but rather to answer yes or no to the authenticity of the statement. This role is part of the statutory duties of banks and it is taken with extreme confidentiality and seriousness. Staff had been sack for sloppy job on the confirmation of authenticity.

We are all entitled to our opinion, but let's also know no two cases are the same. Banks sometimes disclose the balance to CIC(I have seen more than 2 casses).
NB: Let's not debate this again as we have other things to discuss (

I disagree with the point where you said the embassy won't ask beyond the date you printed the SOA, I have seen a case where an applicant applied for TRV and after a month he withdrew a large chunk of the fund and was denied based on insufficient fund(he wasn't lucky enough to get a request for an updated SOA before decision was taken). When he orders for his gcms note the vo clearly started that he withdrew the some money from the account (the exact amount stated with date).....how do you think they got to know that if the bank didn't tell them?
Like I always say, you can't predict CIC so to be on a safe side just allow the money to be there for the duration of the application.
Now let's allow this matter rest

Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of applying for a study permit online and I need your help clarifying a few things.

First off, in addition to filling the family information form, is it required to include your family's birth certificates and IDs in your application?

Thank you

Its not a must, but including their birth certificates can as well serve as proof of relationship especially if you using your family as home ties.

Theirs is on a 4 point grading system (3.5/4), yours(Nigeria ) is on 5(3.35/5). They pay more attention to your final two years, so what was your grade in those two years? If it is higher then you stand a better chance. Also, your job experience might increase your chances as well

Good day fellas, for about 3 weeks now i did biometrics together with my wife and immediately it reflected on our page that we had done it. However, while my biometric request was updated and submitted that of my wife is still showing 'your action is required' after she had done it 3 weeks ago. I sent mail via their webform and also mailed lagos and nairobi because i wouldn't know precisely the consular processing the application but nothing has been done concerning it. And as it is now, the application is already bn reviewed but because my wife's biometrics has not bn submitted hers hasn't bn worked on. Please gurus what can i do?
Also, how do i know the consular working on application? Is it in Lagos, kenya or Ghana. Yes lest i forget, i did online application.
Thanks

I stand to be corrected tho, Diamond Bank may not give you the rate for Form A, it is at the discretion of CBN guys but they mostly give those that use Form M at that current price at their own purpose or reason.
the 358 they gave you is the market price but for Form A it might be less than 358 but not 306.
when i paid my tuition with Form A for Cad, i was given at 261/cad against 270 that the diamond person told me which is still against 200 or sth i was still told.
you can use any diamond bank, form A goes to cbn not diamond bank

Thanks bro,
Like how much is suppose to be in the applicant account when checking up with the VO ?

There is no cut-off financial figure that is expected to be in a sponsored applicant account. Any amount would do. However, if you have vast working experiences over the years, a reasonable sum is supposed to be in your account let say 1M and above.

Thank you JustMellow. I figured as much. I'll include it since I want my family to count for home ties.

I have no property or substantial assets to count as ties. All I've got is my attempt at a compelling statement of purpose and letter of explanation, family, pension, a letter from my current employer saying they would like to have me back after studies.

Thoughts on my standing, anyone?
