Let me help u to help urself. You can go ahead with the wedding, if both of u agreed on the outcome. Nowadays, we do intrauterine fetal sampling to confirm fetus genotype before delivery. Most pregnant women in ur situation either abort the fetus in-utero or go ahead with the pregnancy. The only challenge is the cost of sampling the fetus wic is not cheap... It cost 250k

By now and with so much awareness, SS is supposed to have been eradicated.

It's not oyibo sickness so they don't spend heavily on it through research. We are meant to use only our sense to stop it. Love with your mind and not heart.

I have seen 4 of my cousins die of SS and one is still living with it. We know he will die, but not sure when it will be. The pain the family suffered taking care of them and seeing them die after they have lived so long is unbearable.

Two died when they finished secondary school (19 and 20 years respectively). One of them died after she completed her master's program at the university while the last one was after graduating from the university and waiting for NYSC.

I happened to be close to most of them and the pain you could see from their eyes knowing they will die anytime soon. I was pained too because I couldn't stand losing them to SS.

I have been advocating for couples who are AS or SS NOT TO EVER MARRY EACH OTHER.

The pain that will result in the nearest future could be reverted by finding another soul partner. There are millions of other men and women you can link up with and get married to.

Some people are advising you to marry and then use medical interventions to prevent having SS kids. The idea is nice, but I don't advise that, sincerely. This is an avoidable havoc man! The cost of such medical interventions is always high and the money can be used to venture into some kind of business.

Why waste that money when it can be prevented? Also, it is not 100% guaranteed as you can do everything and still give birth to SS. We have seen it happen, not once or twice.

The stress and pain of taking an SS patient to the hospital during their crisis and having their blood changed aren't what you will ever want to experience. I don't even pray for my enemy to have that kind of stuff happen to them.

I beg you in the name of God in heaven or in the name of anything you believe in. Please! This comment is from a passionate heart that doesn't want to see another family suffer from this pain.

Sickle cell is not a death sentence. It's not even a terminal illness. They can live their normal lives and be great. Keep the baby and IF he/she turns out to be SS, you can set a good management routine like Vitamins, once in a while hydration etc. They're good ones out there, even though expensive. I know sicklers who are 40, 55 and older. My sister is 22 and living her best life, crises once in a while but she's doing better than most "normal" people.

Throw your fear away and enjoy the joy of pregnancy!

I hope u have a very good job dt has medical cover. Most wont cover an SS child though, so just make sure u can afford medical insurance. Dt is what a responsible man should be able to provide at the bare minimum for a sick child. If u want to be paying out of pocket whenever there's a crises u can NEVER afford it.

If uve never thought about a job wt medical cover or medical insurance, then u are a wicked and irresponsible man. Have u ever seen an helpless child? Do u know how heartbreaking their little faces are when they're in pain? Or u want to turn ur wife to an abortion machine, dt will be getting rid of babies after tests? If this is her very first pregnancy and you're both AS, the probability of having SS as first child is low. You're probably gonna have an AA or AS. Sha be careful and dont get her pregnant the second time.

I dont call this love bec there is no love without money, besides both of you have not witness sickle cell crisis, when you get into the real deal what you call love today will disappear.
