Good evening house, my name is david, i will like to start my process to study in canada, i have a degree in biochemistry and four years experience as an IT support staff, i want to study post graduate diploma in Computer systems and Networking. I am funding my self for the first semester fee but i am making my pastor my sponsor because he has money but Please i need help on what to do and how to go about picking the right choice of school and ties also
Great choice, but the only issue with the Canadian visa officers is they tend to weigh your study program with what you studied before hand. Also if you submit an application for an IT program the admission team will look at your IT skills through your transcript and if they don't find any viable or related skillset then it might be a problem. It is one thing to claim you've been working in the IT industry and another thing to proove your skills from an accredited institute. Also there is a lingering problem of "Purpose of Visit" where the Visa officer might refuse based on you not having a clear study plan. It isn't impossible but it will be wise to weigh your options and use the resources you have to full effect.

Please look at this case: This friend has a degree in Petroleum Engineering but over ten years Banking experience. Already has a Masters in Petroleum Engineering but the qualification will not be presented since he intend going for a MSC. Would you advise this fellow proceeds with a Program in Petroleum Engineering where he barely have any work experience or proceed to take a Msc in a field relevant to the Working experience?

Hello house, I have been a silent reader and I have been following the thread diligently. Please I just applied and got admission, to study diploma in business admin in Toronto. I am a 30 year old man, married with a kid. My highest qualification is SSCE which I wrote in 2008. I couldn't further because I lost my single parent mother in 2009 when I got admission to the university, I had to dropout and grow up fast to take care of my two siblings. Now the both of them are graduates and doing well. I want to return back to school but not in Nigeria. I have applied to several schools abroad for Bsc, but couldn't get admission because of my age and space between when I finished high school. I was very grateful I got this opportunity. Now I am at a crossroad on how to start my visa application. I will be my own sponsor, I have a SOA of about 6.2m, I own a my business which was registered this year. I have no travel history, please gurus what are my chances and how do I proceed from here. God bless

The only thing I will advise is for you to tell your TRUTH with a letter of explanation to the visa officer.

The good thing is you are using your own SOA so you can also apply for UK UG admission and process the visa for both Canada and UK.

I was 27 years when I went for undergraduate studies in UK with NO travel history (fresh passport) and from UK moved to Canada. No one can tell you about your chances but you will never know until you try.

I wish you all the best.

He should proceed with a Masters degree related to his current work experience. It is easier that way.

All the best.

Msc is a universal program. Depending on how he presents his case. He can state that he wants to kick start his engineering firm in future as a case sample. My school here in Canada I know a guy that's studying post baccalaureate diploma in Business administration and he's got an Engineering degree.

P.s: to be on the safe side let the program align with previous qualifications

I am in the same stage you are now, though not married yet but had ND(national diploma) and also some work experience and wrote my SSCE in 2008. i I will say, you have some advantage here because of work experience and a home tie which're both your business and family(wife and kid)
There is a great chance you might get approval.

Thanks a lot Yes it does actually and I can choose to proceed to a degree program after the completion of the diploma.
Qudkom:

It's never too late to try. Firstly, the program you applied for does it give you the platform to make a smooth transition to a Bsc program in Canada. There are certain foundation programs that give you the privilege of doing just that. I also believe if you come out straight and honest in your application you might just be lucky. The conditions are far from perfect but you still never know.

Good morning people please I need help.

Is it possible to school and work in Canada and meet up with the expenses that comes after the first semester? Like will working there and my businesses here be enough to See Me through. Also is it possible to finish studying there and remain there without issues? I finished secondary school in 2010 and I am married with 3 kids. I actually intend going through study and have a chance to be settled in Canada

Good day all, I want to say a very big THANK YOU to all the guys who have been helping to share those wonderful ideas on this platform, I have personally benefited and I know same applies to lots of other people all over the world, may God bless you more.

My study visa was refused and now I decided to order for GCMS notes to enable me reapply next year, I used the link getgcms.com and paid 20CAD. When entering my details, it gave an option if my spouse details were included in the application but I unchecked it and proceeded with mine alone because it also requested for her ICU number which I dont have.

My concern is this, I am married and blessed with kids whose details were included in the application but I applied alone and not to be accompanied by my family, please I want to confirm if am supposed to add my spouse details while placing the order for GCMS notes despite the fact that they are not meant to accompany me.

Secondly, after I have applied, I received a consent note which already carried a DRI details(Names and email-attached), is this what its meant to be?.

Lastly, in the consent note, information for my spouse and other related individual were requested, am I supposed to fill that too since my spouse and children will not accompany me to Canada even though their details were included in my application?.

It over to you Gurus in the house.. Thank you guys!!!
