Rape is a sensitive topic and shouldn't be used as an opportunity to bash men/ladies.

You and your so called guys were too quick to defend the male gender without trying to understand what I was pointing out. I guess we misunderstood each other.

This is exactly the same advice I was spreading on twitter and they all descended on me, calling me 'potential rapist' undecided

I discretely avoid any rape arguments. Everyone should fight their battles in their own way.

Rape is evil when caught or proven guilty through allegation.

But the major addiction and subject matter of Uwa's case are manslaughter and murder. False accusation is another subject matter in rape case, with or without kidnapping or murder or manslaughter.

Op, control yourself and manage your emotion to avoid unredeemable detachments. Don't call him animal or slap nairaland critics, even to the extent you termed him as "contact," meaning not a friend, like no known familiarity. It's an interactive session, welcome everybody and learn.

Is your heart so bitter and shattered to denounce him as friend because of his analysis on rape? Remember, you guys were discussing about rape generally, and so widal traces are surrounding it.

Not every rape cases must favour woman, know this first for sure.

As for Uwa's case, let those beasts be clamped down and face the penalty. No matter what she did, rape or murder or manslaughter should never be an option. It's a brutal and traumatic offence punishable by the law.

Although I've searched and still searching, I'm yet to see a reason why a guy should stoop so low to rape the smelling private of an overused hoe, but then in a world where hoes abound, it won't be surprising if lots of pvssy-simps exist too, at least to balance the equation by nature.

The story of pvssy-simps raping smelling hoes, it's all tales of shiit and flies. Birds of the same feather, one is at the giving end, the other is at the receiving end.

You better watch your dirty language on my thread, you feel attacked because you are a rape apologist.

My post was not meant to make any innocent person feel uneasy,

Madam take it easy na, you were the first to use a dirty language on your own thread by calling a fellow human like you an animal. By doing so, you forfeited any right to caution anyone doing same.

Secondly, @ the bolded. It does actually, cos you actually called what your contact said about needing evidence before conviction rubbish In your reply to him, when he's actually right. It show that you support sentencing a person without evidence, simply because he was accused of wrong doing.

And finally at your question about what he meant In the chat you bolded? He is actually lawfully correct, even In a rape case. Let me give you a typical example how.
A jugde can grant a accused person leniency (reduced jail time) during sentencing, when he or she has been proven guilty depending on the circumstances leading to the committed crime.
In a rape case, an example could be if both couples were under an influence (drugs, alcohol, medical condition etc), and the rapist (male or female), has had no previous record nor has displayed a behavior leading to such crime as rape, when normal & under no influence.

Another example, could be if the rapist was forced to do it, like say, if a gun were pointed to his head & told he or she would be killed unless the crime is committed, so the gun possessor passively commits the crime of rape for whatever reason eg revenge at the framed rapist or the raped .

The same can leniency can be granted even in murder depending on the circumstances leading to the crime, for example, murder committed as an act of self defense, which would then be regarded as man slaughter, which carries a lesser sentence.

So you see? OP, the guy you called an animal is actually correct.

But the example he gave trying to explain his point was incorrect. That is taking laws Into your own hands.

Don't always fight people who have a contrary opinion to yours OP, for in the end, yours could be the wrong one. If u can't accept a person's opinion, leave them, it is their opinion, it is their choice and they have a right to make that choice. Don't insult people any how for their opinion especially if they didn't insult you first.

You absolutely make no sense.

Do you know who else is on social media and make use of hashtags? The Nigerian police, the Nigerian senate and house of rep, the president, lawyers, etc if awareness is not brought to a societal menace, long enough to remain in the consciousness of the people, how do we fight it?

Agitations starts awareness, awareness leads to conversations which then leads to learning opportunities that can change the rape culture in Nigeria.

All your supposed ‘action’ is what has been taught and drilled into the brain of women since we could walk, guess what? Rape is still rampant, a rapist only needs one moment of vulnerability. Also, most rape victims were raped by someone they knew not some stranger in a dark alley.

Very pretty cold hearted of you to shame her for being emotional that a young girl was brutally raped and murdered in cold blood.

What is wrong with you??

That is the problem with you lots, this guy you misquoted ( by editing his post) is actually on the same page with you. But heck hypocrisy and emotions has clouded your reasoning and you can't even realise it. He echoed the stance of many men by highlighting;

- As a sensible lady take precautions
- Learn some combat skills just in case
- move with the right people
- You are pretending like males don't get molested which is untrue. Why are you making it look like its a one way street?
- rapist have a predetermined mind and they latch on easy targets( avoid being one)
- 90% of men would be glad seeing a rapist rot in jaiil ( so that motherffucker - OP, who called me a "rape apologist" is a fool who don't even know what those words mean)
- the vast majority of gentlemen unanimously agree that rape is unjustifiable and inexcusable ( but heck this moronic OP is so stupid to even allow people butress their point before giving them insultive labels - OP you are contemptible, middle finger for you)

Like I said hypocrisy and double standards don't bring desired change, honesty and good reasoning do.

I don’t quote lengthy posts, it clogs up the thread. I truncate. No difference in choosing not to quote at all but addressing him with @. I didn’t edit a word.

I read his post and I said what I said. In the 21st century, mobilizing and the use of social media is very relevant and useful to fight rape, it’s not a waste of time and it’s not ineffective.

What you just typed and what she said about ‘precaution’ it’s what we women have been taught ad-nauseam since we could walk, we literally live our lives in fear of men and yet here we are. Rape is still rampart.

As women continue to take precautions (we never stopped), maybe we should also start the education and conversation on rape. People should know what consent means, they aren’t entitled to people’s body, rape shouldn’t be used as punitive measures etc.
Rapists and potential rapists get to hear/listen/see victims of rape and learn firsthand the destruction and damage they leave in their wake.

Also, most rape is done by people who are known to the victim, not some stranger lurking in the dark.

And oh! Yes! I am emotional, if you aren’t after seeing Uwa’s pictures online, then you should check yourself.

P.S. I participated on two threads a few weeks ago about male rape and male child abuse. Did you participate?

I am not against investigating a rape accusation, I have brothers and I also know how evil some ladies can be. However, in the screenshot below he said
If the girl too was at fault and maybe she wronged the guy, the judge will be more lenient on the guy.. to the people defending him, what does this statement mean? No matter what a lady does, beating her up or raping her shouldn't be an option.

your friend is not saying yes to rape....is main argument is everyone needs a fair hearing. The accused might be a victim of false allegations.

lol take it easy..the person you quoted is only saying hashtags on social media alone will not stop rape cases. What about peeps without internet connection how will they get the awareness of "say no to rape". The police using hashtag online, have you tried reporting a rape case to the police and hear their response?

@missimelda01, sorry your thread got derailed by posters ignoring the part where the guy typed there are some scenarios where a rape victim can share in the blame of her own rape with the rapist.

Next time, if you come across such ignorant view on rape, please use that as a teaching moment for that person. I literally spent the whole day yesterday on SM, FB, NL, WhatsApp, explaining, you would be surprised at how ignorant most are about rape and it’s impact on victims and rapist behaviour.

[s]Here is the truth of this whole matter! I do not believe in placards, hashtags or online protests or threads they have done nothing and will have little or no effect. I believe in Action! In Reality! Let the ladies be on guard! Take precautions...

It's a dangerous world out there, don't think all #saynotorape rants will make any difference. Act!

A lot of people here have no sense and are just uneducated. She doesn't know anything about the #metoo movement that nearly ruined neymar jr if not that he has evidence to prove his innocense. Hashtags are more powerful against social vices than anything u think.
