OP, apologies for what happened to you.

I also do like the fact that people have pledged to help the victim get a new gotv. However I can't help but wonder if the victim being a female, single (presumably from her writeup) influenced their decision to help her. If this victim had a dick instead of a vagina, I'm almost certain nobody would've (offered to) helped him this way. one doesn't even need to leave this thread to see I'm most likely correct as two monickers have said they fell victim to this same thing by selfpaiid and one doesn't have a gender tag on the monicker while the other has a male tag. guess what? no one has offered to help them.

Let me reiterate that I'm glad she got the help she probably wasn't hoping for and this is just me giving a thought triggered in my head not a criticism of those who offered to help
hmmm.. thoughtful of you...kudos

Very true.

I tried setting my company up as an escrow service a few years back. Especially as I also run a delivery service in Lagos, it seemed like an excellent option.

I recieve the goods from the seller, I hold on the payment from the buyer and I deliver to the buyer once everything is confirmed before fowarding the payment to the seller.

I gave up as people didn't seem interested in it. Maybe I'll try again.

So u never hear say escrow/picker self dey japa? The koko be say, " do face to face transaction "

Becareful as you go to Mushin oo... That's if you have not gone already.

This may still be the seller inviting you or something.

Please send a guy or go with a guy. The donor may still be real but please apply every caution. Times are bad.

I have seen where someone who went to get help after loosing something, lost his life in the process.

This Op is quite d honest selfless human being. It's weird and odd. About 3 people asked u to drop ur acct number but u insisted on going to collect a used one... Quite intriguing.
@Op you should have dropped ur account number atleast for subscription though

Mine wasn't positive. It was positive because I didn't let nonsensical negativity determine my decision

I lost 23k. I still do online deals. I just tweaked my rules and move on and not let negativity become my main stay. It stinks. Too much of the youth know nothing than na lie na scam. It sucks

Easy psychology. If it were a guy that opened this thread and whined bitterly about such scam, cried bitterly about siblings disturbing for a gotv, bet you someone would have definitely turned up for him. But remember d society made it this way though, many guys would have d liver to create a thread to cry about 2k lost to scam. But yes, men do help their fellow men too.

Is it not here that a nairalander got help to establish his dry cleaning services?

Since everyone will "japa", let us all go back to trading by barter.

You don't identify a problem and say "because of this problem, I will not develop in my ways of doing things". You identify the problems and find solutions to it.

My solution is to create a trusted third party for Nairaland transactions.

Like others have said here, I will not allow negativity to keep me down. You should do that too.

Note.. I said that because i am not the only one he scammed. The EFCC was just to let him know people are comimg for him.
He scammed me of 2k and I was pained. Imagine the pain of others he has scammed too.
Families he has scammed. It is not only for me. Some of them didn't speak out... I raised the alarm that there was a fraudster named Selfpaiid on Nairaland. Some almost did business with him too.
A guy he scammed was in my DM complaining. I felt his pain too.
It's my money and i have every right to be sad cus i worked for it. 2k may not be a big deal for you, but it is for me right now.
This is one of my mistake and I've learnt from it.
It's never going to happen again.

Don't get me wrong. 2k is money definitely. Maybe I was expecting all the rant to be for something more substantial especially when you kept saying you are in pains. Only to see that you are in pains for 2k. If you now lose 10k, what will you do?

I know you worked for it. Everyone works for money, that's why it should be used well. It is not wise to use your last card for a luxury at the expense of the basics.

And think twice when something is unnecessarily cheap or free except it is coming from a close friend or family.

Even if it's N1, OP has a right to complain about being scammed. Can people stop trying to belittle her because it's 2k? undecided Haba!

Sweetness4, don't let these comments get to you. I don't understand why people will come online and be forming heaven knows what.
