Responses here show a lot of people are daft, can't read or can't comprehend what they read. Nobody says there was no inflation before the protest. Inflation worsened with the protest. There was near total shutdown of activities. Food items could not be moved from one point to the other. With heightened insecurity, inflation drives up. These are basic things in economics. The worst thing that will happen is to hand over reigns of power to these stark ignorant youths. It will be a total disaster. People who don't understand how anything works except criminality.

My problem with some of us Nigerians when it comes to price increment is how some people act like they have all the money on earth.Take for instance, you bought a sachet water #10 yesterday and today the person selling says is #20 and while you're trying to know why there is an additional #10 between yesterday and today,another person will just come and ask how much is one sachet water and he/she is told #20 and the next thing you will hear is,"give me five" and at that point you that is trying to know why the price has increased will now be looking like a fool and you will be left with no choice than to buy.
We hardly or barely say no when price of commodities increases in this country,everybody dey form bigmanism but nothing dey pocket.
I once heard a story that there was a time #20 was added to price of bread in Brazil and people went into the street to protest until the money added was removed.

The govt employed thugs to disrupt that peaceful protest. Now the thugs they employed went and play a different script that wasn't scripted initial.
Youths that shun and rejected politicians monies, didn't allow any politician to be among the protest and were protesting for the good of the nation?
The govt came out announced disbandment of SARS, less than 24hrs later they replace it with another unit....
Please you guys should use ur brains for once. I was here shouting that buhari should address these youths, calm situation down and as usual make empty promises. Even senators, reps called him, he ignore friendly calls.
To add salt to the already tensed atmosphere, tinubu with collaboration with some forces beyond the control of the govr went to lekki tollgate @ 7pm when curfew was to commence at 9pm and shot peaceful protesters....

Government refusal to open the border will continue to make the south a dependant of the North in most of little cooking items that can be easily sourced or supplied from neighboring countries. We are only suffering ourselves by perpetually closing the border, no nation in the world is self sufficient or can stand on it's own for long, without plunging itself into some form of economic crises, part of which is inflation and acute food shortages.

PS: Pls don't quote me to abuse the govt I don't subscribe to such. I will however not shy away from making a categorical statement on any anti people's policies by the govt. Reason I have opposed the decision to close the border from inception, and it is now glaring the decision will continue to inflict pain on the populace until reversed. Whatever the motive , it is evident the border closure has achieved no more than create greed in local producers who now enjoy unwarranted monopoly.

this goes to support the fact that the protest is responsible for this particular hike in price. But the daft majority here will never understand. I saw a trailer of goats being looted. That video is everywhere. U think in the next 2 months, any northerner will move goats to that part of the country for sale?

We are saying things have spoilt, things have spoilt, did the government stop us from going into farming. We all need to channel our youthful strength into farming else we will leave the huge task of nation feeding in the shoulders of the north alone.

This is likely going to be temporary inflation. Because trailers transporting food items haven't being moving across state boundaries and regions because of the protests and curfew...
