Meanwhile, for me, it's Oliver Twist.

Yes and Man Of The People by Prof. Achebe. That book is damn hilarious.

Well, it is what it is.

The author set out to write a tragedy. As such, the book had to end that way.

But I don't think it ended all that badly since the brat later made peace with his mother and sisters.

My teacher made me read that book by the way. Literature.

Yeah it was a tragic story. It's a long time though but I know it was about an only son that was spoilt as a result of that.

I'm prolly mixing it up with another one .." "death in the family". They are both tragedy and I read all.

As a good student of literature, I can tell that you are not one yourself.

Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again and Telephone Conversation are not novels. Remember, the OP said 'novels'.

"Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again", for instance, is not a novel. It is a short play. In other words, drama not prose.

Telephone Conversation by Wole Soyinka on the other hand, is a poem. In other words, it falls under poetry.

The main character in God's Big Toe was a character called Onwubiko if I remember correctly.

That was over ten years ago.
