oblo: I have sold and bought quite a number of cars via this forum since I joined in 2006 or so..
A few tips from a private dealers point of view.
Go.physically with your trusted mechanic as stated by op above.
Never pay upfront before seeing the car. Pay after thoroughly inspecting. Remember to request for originals too. And definitely obtain a receipt / proof of sale duly signed by all parties..including witnesses.
If its a registered car checkout the papers properly.
If toks it. would be wise to do a vin check and request to see custom documents.( fakes dey o..so take note)
Test drive! test drive! test drive! ...some issues especially overheating or transmission problems don't manifest till the car has reached full operating temperature. Listen for out of place noises too.
Have some knowledge no matter how little of the specific car you are going for or cars in general. Google is your very good friend here.
There is nothing wrong in going to.inspect a would be purchase more than.once....guy na your money...do not be rushed by seller or your mechanic.
If a deal.is.too good to.be true...walk away..else take extreme precaution. Some too good to be true deals are actually genuine.
As a parting note..nothing comes before some good old common sense! (some say it aint common sha)
Person wen dey ask questions..no dey miss road o..well on some occasions sha if person wen he ask sef no sabi road
Thank you! Thanks Bros. |

rydow: Almost all the Used cars tagged buy and drive no issue on NL had some hidden fault which the seller will tell u later that u actually bought a Used car and not a Tokunbo. Bros anywhere u dey, kindly enter a Dealers shop, Point and Kill the ride of ur choice.
But if u are actually interested in the Used One, go wt ur trusted Kazeem Mecho, mind U. Be careful of ur choice of mechanic oooo. The one that inspected my uncles car knew it had a bad suspension and rust body, he never said it out and what I guess was he was expecting him to always bring the ride to him so he can continue chopping his money.but my uncle changed it for him and he regret his actions.
Shine ur eye well well bro!. There is only 5% Buy and drive Used cars on this forum others u Av to really spend to maintain them. The one I bought, I went to Ilorin to pick it. And today am enjoying but its not a Buy and drive as the seller claim. Its a Buy, Repair and drive.
Safe! Thanks, I will follow your advice. |

And an ID from the owner to check if de name matches the name on the documents, if nt convinced, go to FRSC wit the car registration details to ascertain the real name dat de car is registered with in thier system. Hope this helps Front page? That is for the kids. Thanks anyway. |

I want to buy a car through this forum and I have spent quite number of hours following some car adverts. However, I am scared I might be an easy prey to a stolen car or I might be scammed of my hard earned money . I have searched for "how not to buy a stolen car" or "how not to fall into the hands of scammers", but I couldn't find any of such information . For instance, most cars from Port Harcourt are "cheap", but something tells me to be careful. Can anyone suggest how to go about this without regretting my action in the end? cc: Seun Auto moderator |

The man is obviously doing well and he is the generous type. pls I don't want to die in silence am tempted to ask him myself. pls advice me. You think your rich family friend does not that your husband is not doing well financially? That doesn't need a rocket science. If your so called generous rich family friend cannot take the first step and ask your husband how he could be of help, it will be better to maintain the status quo and continue to earn your respect. |

rasojie: I am in my early early twenties. Heavily built but not 'fat' BMI is not the true representation of your body fat because it depends on both fat, free fat mass , muscle mass and height. Most athletes have BMI above 25 and can't be said they are fat. The accurate measure of body fat is body fat percent which separates body fat from muscle mass. There are different methods of estimating your body fat percent and it includes skin fold measurement. You can visit a nearest gym in your area and either speak to a sport scientist or biokineticist for advice. Like everyone said, you need to be physically active and watch what you eat (fruits and vegetables are your best meal) |

onatisi: so he should be obsessed with failure and disappointments ,abi ?? I am hearing something new . No, that is not what I meant. You can be obsessed with your own success. Arsenal just won two FA cups and community shields in the last two sessions and your boss said today that AW is a failure. Benitez won Europe league cup in his only session, your boss said he would prefer to win domestic league than winning a mere cup. The same Moanrinho was quick to say he was a special one because he won PFL and two FAs. Your boss has never seen anything good in Pep Guadiola because he cannot handle the rivalry. When Moanrinho was in Madrid, CR7 was the best player in the world. Few days after he lost his job, he mocked the same CR7 as not the real Ronaldo. He thinks his achievements are unparalleled and can't be matched by anyone. This is my definition of being obsessed with his own successes. |
Sports › Re: Jose Mourinho Hit Hard On Arsene Wenger Again by Potch: 3:54pm On Sep 25, 2015 |
The only person moaning here is Moanrinho himself. He is so obsessed with success and in the process lost the true meaning of what success is. If a man wins back to back FA cups and has not dropped out of the Champions League in the last 18 years while maintaining a healthy financial status for the club, if that is not a success, I think Mr Moanrinho should keep quiet. |

It only shows the level of animalistic behavior some people have if they can start stoning the senate President just because he's being tried in court and has not even be found guilty yet. Even animals respect their leaders so why can't we just for the mean time respect ours. Kindly Google Saraki assets and pay a visit to Kwara state, and come back and let me know if Saraki deserves to be a leader let alone leading the esteem upper legislative house. |

Hello Bros. I bought a MacBook Apple laptop while studying in SA. Having returned to Nigeria, it was extremely slow. I tried to fix it here, no one could assist me with the problem, so I sent it to SA for a repair. I was told the hard drive is faulty and needed to replace the battery as well. What they wanted to charge me is enough to get a new laptop. I am wondering if you could assist with the repair? |

I sent the laptop to SA, was told hard drive is faulty and needed a new battery. Everything will cost around 80k!!! That amount can buy a new laptop and wouldn't want to let go of it, it cost me a fortune. Kindly suggest a place where I can get a cheaper price for repair? |

eleven: And the embarrassments continues...we are being embarrassed on a daily basis because the ruling party in its rush to sustain the lies that brought it to power is taking common sense for granted. Making useless allegations without simple fact check.
How could President Buhari, the perm sec and the whole of APC not know that the Chinese loan for Lagos-Kano rail was not given? Very simple check would have solved this. Time and time again, they keep underestimating the intellectual prowess of NOI and again she keeps educating them on very simple basic things.
Since the president & APC are very desperate to indict her, him and his team should at least take their time to do a thorough job and save us from further embarrassment. They have all the tools, datas and powers to audit and indict her since it's a must. At least be or pretend to be professional. It's a shame really. Too shameful for Nigeria as a serious country. Did you read where it says $500 millions were disbursed for the expansion of four airports? How much will it cost to build new four airports? I don't know the last time you passed through MMT? These people should be behind bars. |

Tightguy: When you lie , u need several more lies to cover the initial lie u had lied. I recently listened to Mr LAIer Mohammed explain on Channels television how to the USA govt gave them the names and documents of those who have been stealing our resources following the last visit of PMB to president Obama at the white house. Now I really wonder who is telling the truth. U hear one thing today and another tomorrow . Make no mistakes , I , like many other good Nigerians want all those culpable in crude oil embezzlement and diversions to be brought to justice. Because you read Punch's side of the story and that unilaterally refutes the government position on any alleged list that could have been released by the US? Anything given in confidence is treated as confidential and why would any sane US diplomat divulge such information to media? Have you ever read the "danger of a single story" by Ms Chimanda? You and I aren't in government and we can't be sure what goes on behind the scene. If you must know, one Mrs Duke Abiola from Niger Delta has come out to verify the government's position and she even said APC lied about $6 billion that was credited to a former minister in Jonathan government, she said it was $9.3 billion because she was there. The question is who do we believe? APC and Mrs Duke or Punch? |

What do Fresh PhDs currently earn? and what is the duration of promotion if one meets all the required criteria?
Thanks As a fresh doctorate degree holder, you are most likely to start from lecturer II. Divide the starting salary of L.II by 12 (CONUASS III: N1.67 M per annum), you are likely to get N137, 000 before deductions of tax and other allowances. |

Time2Smile: The post is correct as far as I know(and I should know) However that is the Base salary, there are other allowances such as housing allowance, but at the end of the day An Assistant lecturer, with Master degree and on a PhD programme, will earn about 130,000 monthly. I know this might not be much to some people but this just illustrates how poor public service pay is in Nigeria.A Typical Civil Servant in most Southwest states will not make up to 130,000 after working for up to 20 years. That's were corruption in the civil service comes in. Most civil servant survive by stealing government money. To be continued You misrepresented some facts here. I am in the system and this is coming from the horse's mouth. CONUASS is a Consolidated Salary, which includes basic salary, peculiar allowance and rent subsidy for university lecturers in all the federal universities. Although, some states pay more or less and this depends on some intrinsic and extrinsic factors. For instance, lecturers from LASU claim they receive higher salaries compared to UNILAG (anecdotal). Professors do not earn 800k/month except professors of Medicine who get double salaries (university and teaching hospitals). |
