Crime / Re: COVID 19- 18 Prostitutes Arrested In Ondo And Isolated- PUNCH by Powerintoxicate: 7:34pm On Apr 29, 2020
Eighteen commercial sex workers have been arrested by the Ondo State Task Force on COVID-19 for violating the curfew imposed by the state government.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had announced a dusk to dawn curfew as part of efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus disease.

It was gathered that the violators were caught in a brothel at the Shasha area of Akure around 10.30pm on Sunday, while the task force was monitoring compliance with the government order.

The suspects were said to have been placed in isolation and their samples taken to ascertain their COVID-19 status.

It was also gathered that they would be in the isolation centre pending when their results would be out.

Confirming the development, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategies, Dr Doyin Odebowale, said the women were caught in a brothel in defiance of the curfew.

We caught them around 10.30pm. “We have brought the medical team to come and take their samples. The brothel has been shut. We will invite the owner,”

Odebowale urged residents of the state to always cooperate with the government by obeying instructions on how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

And they are being subsidsed from a budget of $1.9 billion. Remember that Oxford's budget for the same year is $3 billion

That means in one year, Oxford spends more than all the schools, primary, secondary and tertiatry in Nigeria.

And you are expecting miracles from Nigerian universites with lean funding to begin with?

If you were an athlete, and you had to compete in a race after fasting for seven days against someone who has eaten normally in those past seven days, you go win so?

Nigeria is a poor country. What makes it worse is the bad government and the looting.
if you know the level of corruption in our unis you won't mention Oxford. Look at jamb. Until the new do who exposed the rot in the system at jamb who would have believed JAMB would have been able to contribute 5 billion naira last year to the FG account? Truth is if Dangote's gives 10bn to v University today to research for a vaccine for covid those funds will be embezzled. Our unis have no excuse

Oxford University's budget for last year was $3.1 billion

Nigeria's budget for education as a whole for this year was $1.9 billion

Oxford University fees is $11,700 per annum

OAU Ife fees is $120-$160 dollars per annum

And you expect OAU to compete with Oxford.?

Stop expecting a bicycle to behave like a supercar.

what a joke. All federal University fees are heavily subsidised by the federal government. So the FG pays on behalf of the student so far you Nigerian. That's why the Universities receive subventions. No excuse. What are your faculties for? Why do you have professors? You promote a lecturer to professor on what basis? Our unis have become a shame. No research nothing. Just Examination centres where students write exams pass and leave with certificates. Nonsense

The question is- what will the USA do if China refuses to pay?
Foreign Affairs / Re: Trump Says US Will Bill China More Than 160 Billion Dollars for Coronavirus by Powerintoxicate: 12:02pm On Apr 28, 2020
President Donald Trump said he intends to bill China for a 'substantial' amount for damages caused by the coronavirus.

During a press conference at the White House on Monday, Trump made the threat to China after being asked whether he was considering seeking money from Beijing for its response to the pandemic.

The idea of seeking reparations from China came after a German newspaper published a mocked-up bill of a $160billion invoice for the impact shutdowns have had on the economy following the spread from Wuhan to Europe.

The president claimed he had a 'much easier' idea and claimed he was planning on obtaining much more than what the Germans were suggesting.

China's role in trying to cover up the extent of the virus when it first came to light has been used to blame the Communist country for the spread of the disease around the world and preventing other countries from being prepared.

President Trump has been one of the most vocal world leaders in attacking the authoritarian regime and has sort to shift culpability from his own administration's response to Beijing.

'We have ways of doing things a lot easier than that,' Trump told a coronavirus press briefing Monday in Washington DC.

Health / How Will Social Distancing Work In A Danfo Bus Or BRT? by Powerintoxicate: 5:52am On Apr 28, 2020
This is crazy. Now the lockdown has been relaxed. People will have to commute to work in Lagos and Abuja. Most people in these cities use public transport.

How will social distancing and proper sanitizing work in a crowded danfo or brt? And for those in Abuja how will you take your cabs or along where four passengers are jammed at the back?

Nigeria is not ready certainly for this . Pray there's no explosion of cases after one week

you are definitely clueless. The NMA has advised that the lockdown should be extended so your opinion is useless. If the shit spreads it's the doctors and nurses that will take the Frontline and not you. It's them whose lives will be in danger. Over forty medical personnel have already been infected in just a week. Italy lost over a hundred doctors so shut the hell up

Shut up. All these pseudo-intellectuals. The three afflictions of hunger, disease and conflict are equal in potency. None is superior.
Conflict is closely tied to hunger, which is why the crime rate may lead to total anarchy in the coming days if the lockdown persists. You can write this now because you have some little funds to go on for a little while, well for many others, they don't!
A smart solution is to open up the economy while enforcing needed restrictions like continuing the ban on large gatherings like parties, churches, mosques, etc. Step up testings, enforce use of facemasks and hand gloves, disinfect public places, etc.
who's a pseudo intellectual? You definitely don't know what you saying. Ghana opened up like you suggesting and did you see their numbers? This is a war situation as the difference here is we battling a disease. You guys don't understand what you all writing here. The NMA has advised for a an extension. You don't have a say in this matter. Are you a doctor or a nurse? If shit spreads can you treat anyone? Only doctors and nurses have a say here cos they'll be in the Frontline when shit hits and they've advised for an extension. So go sit down your opinion is useless
