Maladaise: Chukwueze has to start against South Africa especially in the CAM role he played against Jamaica where he shined, if there's one player that always plays his best against South Africa, it's Chukwueze. Chukwueze is an inconsistent mixed bag. You never know which version of him will show up so you just pray. His performance at the AFCON final still pissess me off. |

Congrat to the boys. One game at a time. Even if they manage to win all remaining games but dont qualify OR move on to next round, they would've earned my respect. Next game with SA, everyone must go for broke. Bodies on the line. Sacrifice everything. Leave it all out on the field. |

Karlovych: Calling up poor players like Taminu, Sodiq and Iheanacho in the early stages of the qualifying games led to this, now almost everyone is a mathematician. Forget about the math cause even if we win all of our remaining encounters, theres no guarantee that we finish among the best 2nd place teams. It's over. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Ppogbae: 9:31pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
Maladaise: Take a look at the table with 3 full games to go. Gabon is likely going to finish second from their group and they already have 18 points! That is with 3 games left to play. Look at Cameroon's group. Cameroon, at second, already has 15 points with three games to play.
No second place team from Nigeria's group will get to the World Cup. Take that to the bank. It isnt happening. Moreover, let me add -- there will be multiple second placed teams that will finish no less than the 19 points that Nigeria cannot overcome even if Nigeria wins the group. The only route is to win the group and win by huge margins. South Africa already understands this and their agenda is to run up scores making South Africa v Nigeria + forfeiture forced by FIFA irrelevant. Our only path is to run up scores BIG!!
What this means is that Nigeria must win her remaining games with nothing less than 3 goals, starting from tomorrow...if it means packing the bus and scoring those goals on the counter with 25% possession, so be it. Thank you for this. What scares me most is that I highly doubt the NFF is communicating the same urgency indicated in this post to the players. We truly bleeped up. |

mrwilliams9: Unless SA is deducted 3pts, SE are not qualifying for the WC. We should just focus on winning this upcoming AFCON They should aim to be one of the best 2nd place teams at this point. NFF phucked around with managerial selection in the beginning and is now finding out |

9JAMac10: Instead of Nigerians to focus on the double header games ahead. We discussing fifa deduction of points from South Africa. Super eagles fans look before you leap. Wishing our boys maximum points in their matches this week It's about equal application of the law. We were penalized for the same thing after 2018 qualifiers. We qualified with a game to spare so it didn't affect our qualification. FIFA should hold the same line this time around |

Congrats to D'Tigers on their huge victory against Tunisia, back to back defending Champs. It seems that our basketball program has whipped themselves back into shape after a tumultuous Olympics in France. I recall that there was even a fight between different coaches of the women's team and it involved control of a social media account, etc.,
My eyes are on Angola though - they experiencing a resurgence. |

If we want to improve the NPFL, submitting a bid for AFCON wold be a great step. This will force us to renovate/build new stadia, adopt modern technologies and lay the foundational infrastructure needed for the domestic clubs. After the tournament, the new/refurbished stadia won't go to waste as the clubs will occupy them. |

At this rate, I think we should kiss the world cup goodbye and it's going to be a woeful performance at the next AFCON
Sack Eric Chelles now. Are you going to use those useless home based players as a yardstick? I knew this was going to happen |
