Congrats to D'Tigers on their huge victory against Tunisia, back to back defending Champs. It seems that our basketball program has whipped themselves back into shape after a tumultuous Olympics in France. I recall that there was even a fight between different coaches of the women's team and it involved control of a social media account, etc.,
My eyes are on Angola though - they experiencing a resurgence. |

If we want to improve the NPFL, submitting a bid for AFCON wold be a great step. This will force us to renovate/build new stadia, adopt modern technologies and lay the foundational infrastructure needed for the domestic clubs. After the tournament, the new/refurbished stadia won't go to waste as the clubs will occupy them. |

lloydtruth: Questions we need to ask: How did Eric Chelle get appointed as the Super Eagles coach? What was his record? How does he choose his players?
At this rate, I think we should kiss the world cup goodbye and it's going to be a woeful performance at the next AFCON
Sack Eric Chelles now. Are you going to use those useless home based players as a yardstick? I knew this was going to happen |

PDPGuy: In hindsight, the best chances for African teams to win the World Cup were 1994, 1998 (Nigeria); 1990 and 2002 (Cameroon).
Those teams were stacked with quality players who were playing in the top European leagues, and played robust attacking football I believe Africa's performances in the 90s and early 2000s scared Europe and prompted the huge gap in quality between the two regions thereafter until Morrocco's Cinderella run in 2022. Looking back, there was much more parity between CAF and UEFA in the 90s. |

Odunayaw: You're only buttressing the point of selectively honoring.
I could ask the same about women's football in Nigeria. This win is popular because of the drama of the final. Don't talk like women's football is in national conscientiousness.
Finally, your examples don't follow too. The point is not salaries. It is honor We can agree to disagree. Considering D'Tigress track record, your point in honor is valid. Hopefully the girls will be honored accordingly. |

Odunayaw: Sorry this doesn't follow. You don't win 5 titles in a row to be told this kind of thing. Go speak to the US or Canadian Women's national soccer team. Perceived value trumps accolades. Honestly speaking, how big is D'Tigress as a brand in Nigeria? How many of our media houses are even covering them? How many Nigerians even know that we have a women's basketball program? |

I hope the team soars high when it really matters. Meanwhile how we go watch the games? Lol. They will end up sinking our FIFA ranking as usual. |
