Kobojunkie: I did not at any point imply that any of the disciples/apostles was greater than Jesus Christ. I simply stated that since they taught what Jesus Christ taught, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, then their epistles are also Word of God. What do you understand by John 16:12-14 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come." |

Dtruthspeaker: I do not agree with your premise simply because saying there's no difference between old and new covenant/testament means nothing changed after the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? And means it's pointless naming one old and the other new. 1 Like |

Kobojunkie: 1. There is only one gospel- Jesus Christ. True But before Jesus was born, there was the Old testament. Hence the old testament is important. And after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there were early disciples, some of whom became Apostles. If you had been one of these early disciples of Jesus Christ, and you preached and taught what Jesus taught you through the understanding of the Holy Spirit, would that mean that you were continuing in Gospel of the Word of God? 2. Exactly. But the 66 canonized books were carefully compiled. |

Kobojunkie: The challenge I've observed concerning you,, if I may share is that you only accept the synoptic gospels as word of God. As good as that is, you need to accept the compendium of the Bible as the Word of God. Both Old and New Testaments and Pray for the Understaning of the Holyspirit. I believe you're a vessel that will do mighty works in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. |

sonmvayina: I understand you. And you are very right. It is the same reason the Jewish leaders (Pharisees, Saducees, Scribes) rejected Jesus Christ, and still reject him till date. (Only few Jews believe in Jesus Christ.) Because searching through the scripture- Law and Prophets (Tanakh/Talmud/Torah) it was not clearly stated. And for a good reason. Truth is, it is a Mystery. It is spiritual. Had it been clearly stated, the devil would have known God's redemption plan for man. Satan would not only have ordered 2 year olds to be killed like Herod did, he would have made sure Jesus Christ never suffered or died to fulfill and accomplish His spiritual victory. To begin to see it in the Old testament is simple, Only when you believe in God and Jesus Christ his only begotten Son. That explains why a Christian believes it completely. John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. |
Religion / Re: The Mystery Of Humility by pressplay411(m): 11:37am On Jan 02, 2023 |
Humility Before God Perhaps the highest level of pride in the bible is to raise our hearts and forget God after he has blessed us. God continued to sound this note of warning vehemently in the ears of the Israelites when He delivered them from Egypt. Yet they became proud and suffered grave consequences for it for generations. Deuteronomy 8:1-19 "Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. 2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you. 6 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; 8 a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; 9 a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills. 10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. 19 If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. 20 Like the nations the Lord destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the Lord your God." But if we remain humble before God, His promises are true from generations to generations.. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." |

Kobojunkie: Your definition of religion seems quite biased. Because the knowledge of God comes through studying under a religion. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you'll have read in scripture that he practiced Judaism from childhood until he became of age in his ministry. And today, we need Christianity to know God through Jesus Christ. |

"For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17 "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Jeremiah 31:33, Hebrews 8:10-11, Hebrews 10:16-18 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them." Ezekiel 36:25-27, Joel 2:28-29 The Law Through Moses; -Deuteronomy 5:5-21 The 10 Commandments -Deuteronomy 6:5 The Law through Moses -Luke 10:25-28 Eternal Life through The Law of Moses as confirmed by Jesus Christ Grace and Truth Through Jesus Christ -John 17:3 Eternal Life through Grace and Truth through Jesus Christ "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." -John 3:1-21 Jesus explains this mystery. Being born of Water and of Spirit. There is no condemnation for all who believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. These Promises and Prophecies were fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost. "When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:1-4 God fulfilled His Promise through the Victory of Jesus Christ on the Cross. We now have Victory in the name of Christ over sin, death and Satan. All we have to do is come into the knowledge of God through Jesus Christ. "Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." Acts 2:38-40 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." Romans 8:1-4 What then is the conclusion? You can either remain in the Law, struggling to fulfill the requirements of the Law, by which no flesh can be justified. Or you can accept the Grace and Truth that is in Christ Jesus, by which we have Liberty as we Walk not according to the flesh but Walk according to the Spirit. It is important to know that Abraham did not live by the laws of Moses, God imputed Righteousness on him, simply because he believed on God. Genesis 15:6. Romans 4:3 Of a Truth, Walking in the Spirit, Living by Faith upholds the Law. Romans 3:31 As Grace is simply the Law being programmed into our hearts without the sacrificial requirements of the Law. The Mystery therefore is that God does not condemn us when we commit sin in Christ, because Christ lived on earth and knows our weaknesses and strengths and He makes intercessions for us daily before the Father. He has also given us the Holy Spirit to Comfort us and Help us grow, shaping us through the Power of His Word and True Ministers into His image and likeness, according to our repentance, willingness and revelation of His love for us and for creation. The New Covenant is a Covenant of the Spirit. We do not simply walk by sight or dictates of the law. We can only truly know God's will according to the Holy Spirit and Word of God when we have been born of Water and Spirit. Truly, Creation awaits the manifestation of the sons of God. "For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now." Romans 8:19-22 |

Nazgul: If you run a loan coy or work in one, you'll understand why some of them go to this extent. Though some of this is quite extreme. A lot of Nigerians take loans without intention to pay back. And are serial borrowers taking loan from every new loan app that surfaces. I used to work as a credit officer in an MFI, I can tell you what I faced. it was not a funny experience. My advice, if you have no intention of paying back, then don't go and take loans. Loans are not charity or give-aways. Cos people's jobs are on the line when people default on loans. And some coys end up folding up when their bad loans are too much, and run them bankrupt. 1 Like |

hoopernikao: I intentionally avoided this discourse for the simple fact that it is one of those that I have termed inconclusive arguments. While we can't find the mention of the trinity of God is the bible, yet it can be inferred. The same can be said of Jesus being Archangel Michael. By definition the word Angel means a messenger from God. And Archangel means the Primary messenger from God. By inference the title and position would seem only suitable to the person of Jesus Christ. I think DappaD has done justice with the scriptural references to support this. However like other spiritual affairs, it is subject to personal revelation. |

Religion / Why Is Christianity So Divided? by pressplay411(m): 8:25am On Jun 07, 2020 |
Like a lot of Nigerians, I was born into a Christian home but later personally rededicated myself to Christ. It was a great experience for me personally choosing to follow Christ. I felt his love, the presence of the Holyspirit and so I decided to be discipled. However, I realised that the body of Christ is divided, even as a local assembly where I worshipped. Denominationalism is probably the greatest scourge of the church. I remember whenever we went for evangelism it was basically to get people to leave their church and start fellowshiping with us. In fact you're not really a Christian until you fellowshiped with us. I also joined a few interdenominational fellowships, most notably Discipleship classes by Bro Gbile. In this fellowship I realised they condemned most church denominations. If you've not been in their Discipleship class you're not yet a Christian. I know of churches where they don't even allow marriages outside their denomination. It makes me wonder how did we get here since God is not an author of confusion. We are supposed to be united if indeed we believe in the same Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many. This scripture makes me question what the body of Christ has become. 1 Like |

MuttleyLaff: That is just an opinion, which is contradicted by other opinions in the commentary. He claimed Angels made inaudible sounds, how then do we explain angels sing Holy Holy in heaven? How them does Angel Gabriel deliver good tidings? Another opinion in the commentary below contradicts that position and seems more plausible as it agrees with other scriptures. i. In Paul’s day, many Jews believed angels had their own language, and by the Spirit, one could speak it. The reference to tongues of… angels shows that though the genuine gift of tongues is a legitimate language, it may not be a “living” human language, or may not be a human language at all. Apparently, there are angelic languages men can speak by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. |
Religion / Re: I Should Speak In Tongues, Right? by pressplay411(m): 8:53am On May 24, 2020 |
Bible Commentaries Enduring Word. 1 Corinthians 13: 1-2 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. a. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels: The Corinthians were enamored with spiritual gifts, particularly the gift of tongues. Paul reminds them even the gift of tongues is meaningless without love. Without love, a person may speak with the gift of tongues, but it is as meaningless as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. It is nothing but empty noise. i. “People of little religion are always noisy; he who has not the love of God and man filling his heart is like an empty wagon coming violently down a hill: it makes a great noise, because there is nothing in it.” (Josiah Gregory, cited in Clarke) b. Tongues of men and of angels: The ancient Greek word translated tongues has the simple idea of “languages” in some places (Acts 2:11 and Revelation 5:9). This has led some to say the gift of tongues is simply the ability to communicate the gospel in other languages, or it is the capability of learning languages quickly. But the way tongues is used here shows it can, and usually does, refer to a supernatural language by which a believer communicates to God. There is no other way to understand the reference to tongues of… angels. i. In Paul’s day, many Jews believed angels had their own language, and by the Spirit, one could speak it. The reference to tongues of… angels shows that though the genuine gift of tongues is a legitimate language, it may not be a “living” human language, or may not be a human language at all. Apparently, there are angelic languages men can speak by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. ii. Poole has a fascinating comment, suggesting that the tongues of… angelsdescribes how God may speak to us in a non-verbal way: “Angels have no tongues, nor make any articulate audible sounds, by which they understand one another; but yet there is certainly a society or intercourse among angels, which could not be upheld without some way amongst them to communicate their minds and wills to each other. How this is we cannot tell: some of the schoolmen say, it is by way of impression: that way God, indeed, communicates his mind sometimes to his people, making secret impressions of his will upon their minds and understandings.” 1 Like |
