Nairaland GeneralRe: Why The Igbo Almost Always Ends Up With The Short End Of The Stick. by pressplay411(m): 4:46am On May 12, 2023
zoedew:
Baba Chinua Achebe famously said concerning the Igbo:
“I will be the first to concede that the Igbo as a group is not without its flaws. Its success can and did carry deadly penalties: the dangers of hubris, overweening pride, and thoughtlessness, which invite envy and hatred or, even worse, than can obsess the mind with material success and dispose it to all kinds of crude showiness. There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behavior that can offend by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness.”
So long as the Igbo fail to deal with the above problem they will have problems of acceptance EVERYWHERE!
I have so much to share with the broken igbo.
It is not any tribe or nation that is fighting the igbos.
It is God himself.

It is a sad and fearful thing when God, our loving father fights some one, talk less of a nation/tribe/people.

The earlier igbos reaalise this, the earlier their salvation, deliverance and restoration.

It's painful to watch a great people suffer.
It's a similitude of watching Israel as a nation suffer.

May God Almighty have mercy and deliver us all.
Because the word of God is true and faithful- God
resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Every individual and every nation has some element of pride and we are all meant to grow in humility.
But until one comes to this knowledge, they are blinded to the fact.

May God unveil us and deliver us all in Jesus name. Amen

1. I see. There is no mention that the Holy Spirit first rested on any of the men listed before they became righteous. So, my question still stands. And Jesus Christ was not available to those of the Old Covenant since the contract He represents applies specifically to the sinners of Israel of which the OT righteous men are not a part of. Jesus Christ said this severally that He came to call the sinners to repentance and not the righteous. So, again, Scripture has it that before Jesus Christ showed up with the Kingdom of God, the following people were able to attain God's righteousness without the Holy Spirit working it for them, people like Moses, Jacob, Isaac, Joseph, Isaiah, Abraham, Abel, Noah, Job, David, Jonah, Obadiah, Anna, Zechariah( and his wife Elizabeth), Joseph(father of Jesus Christ), Joseph of Arimathea, Zaccheus, etc. So, my question to you is when you say no flesh can meet God's standard of righteousness, what exactly do you mean by that? Expound on this idea so I better understand what you are in fact driving at. undecided

2. As for the verse you quoted from Paul's epistle, I am not certain what that verse has to do with righteousness. Or can you explain why you felt it necessary to include that verse in this? undecided

Something else I noticed from your response is that you all but conclude that the Spirit Paul in fact spoke of in chapter 8 of his epistle to the Romans is the Holy Spirit but Paul never mentions the term Holy Spirit, so why assume the spirit in question is the Spirit of Truth aka the Holy Spirit? undecided
Can you mention the verse you're referring to? Is it Hebrew 6?

According to Jesus Christ, there are two Spirits. The first is the Spirit of Life aka Eternal Life also the one who sinners born of when we become born-again. Then you have the Spirit of Truth aka the Holy Spirit who only inhabits those who are Holy/Perfect vessels --- recall Jesus Christ urged His followers to become Holy even as God Himself is Holy --- worthy of God Himself. Both of them belong to God since they are the same Spirits that live inside of Jesus Christ-- the way, the Truth and the Life -- and they each serve different purposes in the life of His followers. undecided

I thought I replied this yesterday. Guess I didn't send.
To answer you question concerning the Spirit in Old testament and new testament.

In the old testament the Holy Spirit could only rest on man because Jesus was not yet glorified.

After the Crucifixion, death, Burial and Ressurection of Jesus Christ, the perfect Atonement for sin was made.

Now the Holyspirit can indwell man.

Rom.3.23-26 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Eph.1.13 - In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

1. Before we run away with your many other theories, let's consider your first claim to better understand what exactly it is you are saying here. Scripture has it that before Jesus Christ showed up with the Kingdom of God, the following people were able to attain God's righteousness without the Holy Spirit working it for them, people like Moses, Jacob, Isaac, Joseph, Isaiah, Abraham, Abel, Noah, Job, David, Jonah, Obadiah, Anna, Zechariah( and his wife Elizabeth), Joseph(father of Jesus Christ), Joseph of Arimathea, Zaccheus, etc. So, my question to you is when you say no flesh can meet God's standard of righteousness, what exactly do you mean by that? The summary of your questions is simple:

What's the difference between the Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit?

1. The Father Himself is the one who determines if one has attained His standard of righteousness and when. To qualify one must be born-again and have the proof that Jesus Christ said all who are would have. Afterward, one is then to seek first the Kingdom of God(Holiness) and then God's righteousness. Both are attained by continuing to live one's life in submission and obedience of the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ- John 8 vs 31 - 36 & John 14 vs 15 - 23 & John 15 vs 7 - 11. undecided

2. God notifies those who Have Him living on the inside of them of His decision. undecided
You've spoken well. However, you have spoken as if a Pharisee.
By this your standard, God will only answer the prayer of Jesus Christ alone and no other human being.

But for the benefit of those who will read this and whose motive is truly right, let me explain.

1. No flesh can meet God's standard of righteousness which is why you're half right. However half truth can also be a lie.

This is why a believer has the gift of the Holyspirit.
Rom.8.26 - Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

2. There are two levels of righteousness.
- Imputed righteousness which is what every believer has simply by believing God. From the moment you repent and accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior, you have become righteous before God.
In fact this is how the bible describes us in 2Cor.5.21 -
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

-Righteousness by Sanctification
This comes as we walk with God in Obedience to the leading of the Holyspirit and the Word of God.

This second level is where you may have been referring to. And yes, it is necessary for every believer to grow from imputed righteousness to living righteously as we come to know Christ, as we come to know the likes and dislikes, loves and hates of God.
As we come to know who we are in Christ. (Hebrew 6:1-6)

When a true believer reaches this level, that is where Jesus said, up till now we have not asked him in his name.

John.16.24 - Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

In conclusion, the best prayers for a believer are speaking in tongues and the Lord's prayer, and as led.

Eph.6.18 - praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

The Walk of a Christian is a growth process- from Believer to Disciple to Christian. God help us all in this Walk in Jesus name. Amen

Kobojunkie:
Scripture states that God does not answer the prayers of the unrighteous; the pleas and requests and every petition of the unrighteous are tainted by their sins(disobedience/unholiness) and are hence an abomination to God. So, what is definite is that even your many pleas for the forgiveness of sins are not answered by God given that God made no special exemptions for that kind of pleas. No amount of praying can cause God to change His mind regarding that which concerns the unrighteous by the way. So if you are thinking of prescribing more prayers that only means you really don't understand or know God at all. undecided

God, however, openly bragged about how He only answers the prayers of the righteous; He delights in granting them the desires of their heart meaning that they are those who are loved by Him. For this very reason, Jesus Christ urged His followers to seek first the Kingdom of God and God's Righteousness in order that all things— the blessings and rewards of the Kingdom of God(holiness), answers to prayers included—shall be added on to them. And as Jesus Christ explained in His Gospel, the only way to become Holy, and then also Righteous, is by way of continuous submission and obedience to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ, god's Truth and Law in the Kingdom of god - John 8 vs 31 - 36 & John 14 vs 15 - 23. Jesus Christ is the only way. Obedience to the Truth of God is the one and only path to righteousness. No amount of praying and other religious rituals can accomplish that. undecided

You need to understand the meaning of the word "amiss" in order to realize what James was instead trying to tell you in that verse that you pulled from his epistle. If you consult Webster's dictionary, you will find that the word means to be in an imperfect state, a state that is not in the right order aka unrighteous. What James was saying in that verse is that the reason you do not receive from God is that you are asking in an unrighteous state—a state that is not in accordance with God's mandate of righteousness. So, clearly, you cannot benefit anything from remaining in an unrighteous state as far as God is concerned. That is what God said, and James reiterated it in that verse there. undecided
What qualifies someone as righteous?
At what stage can you call yourself righteous?
Nairaland GeneralPower Of Influence In The Life Of A Christian by pressplay411(op): 6:06am On May 05, 2023
Today's Message: Power Of Influence In The Life Of A Christian
By Pastor Segun Keku

In other words- How to know if someone is sent from God or from the devil.

The people around you that you spend time with will either influence you positively or negatively.
We get better by godly influence. And worse by bad influences.

When you give your life to Christ, it is expected that your circle of friends should change.

1Cor.11.1 - Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

Choose your friends by their values. Is it godly or worldly?

Some people are sent into your life by the Holy Spirit to help you live righteously.
These are Friends that will tell you the consequences of going into sin.
They encourage you to pray and fast.
The encourage you in spiritual exercise.
Not friends that will tell you about football or betting, or bad habits etc.

The world has Influencers.
The Holy spirit is the influencer of the Believer.

And He will use people to influence you.
Such Good Friends are not many.

Friends sent by the devil will encourage you to do evil and discourage you when you want to do the right thing.

They are the ones that will tell you the latest joints, clubs, etc.
If you dont wake up, the damage they would have caused would be irreparable.

They will make you worse than you were.
They are friends that spend their time gossiping.

There are some people you don't have business with even in your family.
If someone encourages you to lie, drink, smoke, consult oracles for power, do divination, consult astrology, commit fornication/adultery, etc, avoid them.

Beware of Spiritual manipulation.
It is important to have the Spirit of the LORD. The Holyspirit will cancel their evil manipulations easily.
Beware of fast trackers. What you get too quick will also go quickly.

We are at the end times. Evil, death, terrible things will be on the increase. Teenagers will be rebellious. But our teenagers will not be among them in Jesus name.

Do not open your self to attack. The moment you go to see a seer and he has spoken, you have opened the door of your life to them for manipulations.

This morning whoever the devil may have sent to your life, the LORD will drive them out in Jesus name. Amen.

1Kgs.21.25 - But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up.

Jezebel was sent by the devil to Ahab.
Likewise Job's wife.
It is possible that a wife/husband is sent by the devil into the life of a husband.
When devil sends someone on a mission, they are targeting your neck, how to destroy you.

Ahab listened to Jezebel and was destroyed.
Job did not listen to his wife and he lived.

Be sensitive who you listen to.
Do you only listen to the rich?
Do you listen to prophets?

1 Kjngs 13:11-25
Even though the young prophet was strong not to listen to the King but he listened to the old prophet against God's instruction and he died.

Are you sure God sent that person or the devil?

Any thing your pastor tells you, if it is not in the bible, don't do it.
Pastors will be judged. Everyone will be judged. But do not let them destroy your life.

When you listen to bad influences over good influences you will lose God's Presence.
There are things can you do that will drive the Holy Spirit away from you.

Who is the person the devil has sent into your life?

Do not believe the lies that
"I can hang around people and not be influenced by them."
Or "I can't fall for their Pressure."

It is not possible.
There is no spiritual Superman.
There's no relationship between Light and Darkness.
No matter how righteous you are, if you find yourself alone with a woman, flee!!!
The demon inside them is greater than them.

How can a pastor still have a prophet outside his organisation?
There should be no middle man between You and God. God wants to speak and deal with you directly.

Avoid pessimistic people who always have something negative to say, without faith.

1Thess.5.14 - Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.

It is greed when you want to amass what God did not give you.
Be okay with what God gives you.
Why do we forget easily?
Remember how God has helped you.
Do you Trust God to still help you?
"I urge you. In every situation, Wait on the LORD."

Anyone that brings you down or makes you lose hope is from the devil. Avoid them.
Be careful what people say to you before you believe.

A good prophet/pastor has the Word of Hope.
Like Moses, when there was no way forward for the Israelites, he heard from God, "Move Forward."

Job.14.7 - "For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease.

Be sensitive of those who bring division in a gathering.

Check the Fruit they bear.
Matt.7.15-18 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

It takes some body that is walking and producing the Fruit of the Spirit to walk and produce the Fruit of the Spirit.
Look out for Character and Virtue.
Don't relate with people based on tribe or riches, status.
You can only be my Friend if you know Chriist and you Fear God. Not by how much money you have.
I prefer to be poor and know God.
Yet, to have money and still have the fear of God is better.

May the LORD separate you from every demonic and satanic influence in Jesus name. Holy Spirit will block them in Jesus name. Amen.
Christianity EtcWalking In The Path Of The Cross by pressplay411(op): 4:59am On May 05, 2023
The topic before us is- Walking in the Path of the Cross.

I am way too inadequate to teach on this.
But I thank the ministers who have been praying.
And I know we serve a God that answers prayers.
I will like to remind us what this is all about.
Our theme remains:
Understanding Glory and Virtue

What correlation exists between Walking in the Path of the Cross and Understanding Glory and Virtue?

Since the first day we decided to Understand Glory and Virtue, some thing happened.
WE TOUCHED GOD'S HEART.

And he has answered us. Just as he answered Daniel.
Just as he answered Solomon.

And He has by His Precious Holy Spirit led us on this journey of Understanding Glory and Virtue.
This is why I had to specially recognise and honor the Ministers who have been mightily used for this herculean task.
Yet by the Holy Spirit, it has seemed effortless.
Simply because they yielded.

Yielding to the Holy Spirit is simply what it's all about.
Walking in the Path of the Cross is a test of our Yieldedness.
A test of our Faith.
A test of our Trust.
A test we MUST pass.

The question becomes.
What does it mean to be yielded?
What does it mean to yield?

Yield
1. To give way; to allow another to pass first.
2. To give as required; to surrender, relinquish or capitulate.
3. To give way; to succumb to a force.
4. To produce as return, as from an investment.
5. To produce as a result.

Our will is all we have to yield.
I repeat, Our will is all we have to yield

I asked a question the previous time.

Is it not curious that Our LORD and Saviour has finished the works, finished the promise,
He has corrected the error of the First Adam,
He has done all the hard work,
He has fulfilled His ministry, been crucified, died, been buried and ressurected,
He has conquered Satan and all his wisdom,
He has restored all the Authority in Heaven and Earth.
He has begged the Father to give us the Holy Spirit,
He has given us the Apostles and the Ministry Gifts,
He has Given us the Bible through Missionaries,
He has endured such long suffering and patience,

Yet, only very few in the annals of the kingdom have seen the manifest presence of this restored glory?

We should ask ourselves questions.
We should burn with Holy Anger.
We should not want another day go by with us living short of the glory of God.
We should ask what is responsible.
God loves it when we ask Him questions.
He wants us to reason with Him.

Which Father is not happy to see his son curious about everything he has put in place for him?

Which Teacher is not happy to meet students who desire to be the best at their studies?

Which Boss is not Happy to see staff who align with the goals and objectives of the organisation?

God is not the problem. He has done all that needs to be done.
What then is the problem?
The enemy has done this.
And unfortunately, we partnered with him. Albeit, ignorantly.

Satan is the enemy. We must never forget this.
Satan hates you and I unconditionally.
Satan is the father of lies.
We must never forget this.
We must always remember this.
Satan will mislead us and then deny us. Push all the blame on us.

Why?
Because his weapon is simple.
His weapon is our lusts.

Lust of the eyes.
Lust of the flesh.
Pride of life.

As long as we have these 3. We cannot walk into the Glory

The journey in the Path of the Cross is to exfoliate this lusts. This evil passions. This vain desires.

The irony is some of us are already offended about the idea of losing our lusts and desires.

Who has bewitched us?
I was a heavy drinker.
Sexually perverse.
Coarsely vulgar.
Proud of my uniqueness.
I wanted to be the best musician/rapper in the world.
I admired so much the glory of the world.
This made me selfish.
Made me easily envious
Made me greedy.
Made me want to sleep with the hottest girl in the room. Just for the fun of it.
It was so bad that even married women would want to sleep with me cos in the Spirit realm, I belonged to Satan.

So we attracted one another.
Just the same way Christians born of the Spirit attract one another.

We need to know that our lusts are destructive.
Until we know this, we will hold on to them with our dear lives.

Yet this is what is keeping us from the Truth. From Eternal Life. From Glory.

All we need is Humility.
We need to let God teach us humility as we yield to His leading.
Following Christ is why we are saved.

The early disciples had Jesus Christ.
We have the Holy Spirit.

We must train ourselves to learn how to know the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Following the Leading of the Holy Spirit is how we Follow Christ.

The Glorified Christ is the Person of the Holy Spirit.
How do we train ourselves to know the leading of the Holy Spirit?

Through adequate Discipleship.

We need to know who the Holy Spirit leads us to.

Which Local assembly (church) should we worship in.

If there's a foundation class there- we need to humble ourselves to learn afresh as if we are hearing of Christ for the first time.

We need to know what this decision will cost us.
Because we will lose friends.
We will be antagonised by many.
We will face persecutions.
We will change our ways.

All this is not going to be by our own efforts.
We simply have to obey His leadings.

We simply have to be humble and obedient, trusting God with our wholeheart.

When we Trust God. That is the first level of Faith.
When God can Trust us, that is the true height of  Faith.

The Walk in the Cross is how God will test our Faith to know if it is genuine or conditional, or pretense, or selfish, or materialistic, etc.

I conclude with this.

1. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior did not keep us in the dark about this.
The template is there in Matthew 5. The Beatitudes.

2. The end result is likewise there. In Galatians 5. The Fruit of the Spirit. And Gifts as we grow.

We have to allow ourselves to grow. And this is where Patience is.

James.1.2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

May we truly come to be Perfect and Complete in Christ.
Thank you all and God help us in this walk.

A DAY IS COMING
Anchor verse:
Mal.4.1 - "For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up," Says the LORD of hosts, "That will leave them neither root nor branch.

A day we should be afraid of or be glad to see.
To some a day of sorrow, crying, loss of properties, regret. death, end of everything.
To some a day of joy, laughter, Victory, vindication, eternal life, beginning of new life..

Ps.90.12 - So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

2 Cor 4:7-18 Earthly vs Eternal.
2Cor.4.17-18 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Muslims are ready to die for the eternal. But the average modern Christian is more concerned about material possessions.

Two Most important days we should be conscious of;
-The day you will die.
-The day Christ will come.

Matt.6.33 - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

What the Pastor is teaching, does it make you see Jesus or the beauty of the pastor and the church?

Mal.3.2 - "But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire And like launderers' soap.

Joel.2.31-32 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

2Pet.3.7-8 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

What are pastors preaching in the church?
Can the earthly powers see the Power of God in your church?
Are you taking your Christian Life seriously?

Whatever sin you engage in you will wish that day never came.
If you live in Christ, you will rejoice on the Day.

Do not let the death of Christ be in vain over your life.
He has paid all the price for you.
There's still room for you to repent.
Don't let the devil deceive you.
Come to the Lord and say you're sorry, before it is too late.

God will give you every good thing at his own time. But more importantly God wants to give you heaven.

A day is coming that your name will change to- Dead Body.

Mark.8.36 - For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Are you ready for that Day?
There's no way you can be ready if you're in sin.
Pray "LORD, haave Mercy."

Don't be deceived, earth is not our home.
Devil uses forgetfulness. Never forget there was a time you were a baby.

Where will you go with your unforgiveness?
Churches should prepare people for eternity.
Imagine someone stealing from the bank to pay tithe.
Tithe is willingly, not by force.
Blessed are the Cheerful givers.
Give to God and Give to man cheerfully

Pray "Father help me, prepare me for the Day of reckoning. Change my heart."

The Day of damnation and sorrow to some is going to be The Day of Joy for some others.

Before death, your eyes will open. But by then it will be too late to pray.

There's Time for everything, money can't help you.
As a believer, if you want your prayers to be answered, have the Fear of God.

A Day is coming.
Do not forget the ancient gospel of the disciples that made believers ready to die for the kingdom of God.

The LORD will help us.
That Day will be a day of joy and happiness for you and I. And not be a day of sadness or regret in Jesus name. Amen.

This is nothing but the truth. Wether Nigerians like it or not, an Igbo Presidency is the only way forward for Nigeria to witness a 360° turn around. Wether igbos rule Nigeria or not, they have absolutely nothing to lose and will continue to remain above other region in education, business, wealthy and lot more.
It is statements like this that makes his observation correct.

You can't be claiming to be better than the rest and making others feel inferior and then expect them to extend open and friendly arms to you.

If Ndigbo truly are the best, prove it by making your states/region better than the rest.of Nigeria. Then you would have validated your proud position and assertion.

Until then, be humble and learn how to play good politics and other regions will stop resisting you.
Cos truly, no one can deny the grace for business and wealth that God has naturally endowed Ndigbo with.

All the regions of Nigeria have their God-given Grace.
That's why we will truly be the Giant of Africa when we unite in peace, love and mutual respect for one another.

God bless Nigeria
God bless us Nigerians.
God bless our Generation.

Used to Think “Bianca” and “Biafra” Were Igbo Words!
By Farooq Kperogi

Twitter: @farooqkperogi

Don’t laugh too hard at my ignorance, but until fairly recently, I used to think Bianca was an Igbo name and thought any non-Igbo person who bore the name did so out of (benign) appellative appropriation—such as many Black Americans who bear African names.

Don’t blame me: the first person I ever knew to bear the name was Bianca Onuh Ojukwu, the former beauty queen who became former Biafra warlord Emeka Ojukwu’s wife. Through the logic of false attraction, I thought the “bia” in Bianca was derived from the Igbo “bia” that means “come.”

This notion was congealed in my mind because “bia” is probably Igbo language’s single most recognized word to other non-Igbo Nigerians. “Bia” is lexically frozen in my imagination in the trinitarian alternative indigenous name for Nigeria called WAZOBIA, which is formed from the Yoruba “wa,” the Hausa “zo” and the Igbo “bia,” which all mean “come” in English.

In addition, Biafra, the name Igbo people chose for their homeland when they seceded from Nigeria and which new secessionists still cherish and embrace, begins with “bia.” In fact, an Igbo friend and classmate of mine in high school by the name of John Chukwu convinced me that “Biafra” was short for “bia fara,” which he said literally meant “come take” in Igbo.

You can imagine my shock when I discovered that even Biafra that I’d invoked as the lexical evidence for associating “Igboness” to the name Bianca and which my friend told me meant “come take,” isn’t even an Igbo word! It’s a Portuguese word—like Lagos is, by the way.

Well, maybe it’s incorrect to say Biafra is a Portuguese word since it really doesn’t mean anything in Portuguese—like Lagos does in the language. (Lagos is the Portuguese word for lakes.) We do know, however, that Biafra was singlehandedly invented by Portuguese explorers and cartographers to refer to “the Gulf of Guinea stretching from the Niger River delta to northern Gabon.”

But why would people want to escape an odious colonial name like “Nigeria” for another colonial exonym like “Biafra”? If Biafra would be an ethno-state, what’s hard about coming up with an Igbo name for it? Are we that mentally damaged by colonial subjugation that we can’t even name ourselves by our names in our dream ethno-states?

Back to Bianca. I learned that Bianca is actually an Italian name that means “white.” How interesting! If I had taken literature in high school, I probably would have encountered the name in Shakespeare’s “Othello” and “The Taming of the Shrew.”

Divine Access Through Humility

Humility is the key to His Kingdom.
By Humility it was established and only By Humility can it be accessed and entered.

If God, our Creator could Humbly become Flesh as Jesus Christ his only begotten Son to endure and bear our sin and shame, curse and pain, our life and death on earth.
He could endure the insults and lauding of His earthly masters just to teach us servitude and patience.

If as much as he detests Sin, as irritating as sin is to God, the opposite of Sin. Him being Righteousness yet He could confine himself to endure sin for over 33 years.
Can you even lock yourself inside LAWMA truck for 33 seconds??

Yet he endured this for over 33 years! He endured us in the stench and foulness of our sinfulness.

Please if for nothing else but For this God, Be Humble!!!

Only Humility can make you turn to God for Help.
Only Humility can make you acknowledge that sin has destroyed your life or is destroying your life.
Only Humility can make you acknowledge that you (a believer or religious leader) has fallen from Grace and need to rededicate your life to God.
Only Humility can make you set aside your differences and grievances with others and focus on what matters most- God.

Only Humility before God can make you shameless before men. Dancing and Praising and Worshipping him the way you know he is worthy to be Praised!
King David could not contain himself before the Ark of God.

Only Humility can make you care less about what people will say but what God says. God says Forgive, why not Forgive yourselves and live in love and peace.

Only Humility can make you know that you know too little about God, about every thing. Only Humility can make you seek Knowledge from God and any one who knows even if it is your subordinate, younger ones or nor-so-friendly neighbour.

Humility can not be over emphasized. It is the secret to life, the Kingdom of God, accessing deeper things of God through the Holyspirit and eternal life!

Be Humble.
James 4:10
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Christianity EtcRe: Walking In Obedience by pressplay411(op):
We are saved to be restored to Glory.

Adam was the first son of God.
Due to his disobedience. We all lost the glory of God.

Jesus Christ is the Second Adam. With a Greater Glory than Adam.
And due to his righteousness, we are all redeemed into the greater glory Adam never got to experience.

Even Jesus Christ never fully manifested the Greater Glory here while in flesh. Selah

Which is why he said to His disciples (You and I)
That we will do greater works.

Let us not be discouraged.
Let us not despair.

We are exactly where the God knows we will be at the very moment in existence.

God works with time.

He has exercised long suffering for centuries and even millennia.

All he wants is for us to be perfected and to prove ourselves faithful for him to commit such greater works into our hands.

In conclusion, we should not attempt to finish by the flesh, all we must do is cry to God to increase our faith according to His will.

We need to count as rubbish everything we have counted as glorious.

For only God can put in our hearts the ability and Grace to be obedient and faithful.

Galatians 5:16-18
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Phillipians 2:13
For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

My prayer for us all, is that we will Become.
We will Manifest.
We will walk in Obedience to the will of God.
And we will receive the Faith, Humility, Patience and Love that is required in Jesus name. Amen
Christianity EtcWalking In Obedience by pressplay411(op):
WALKING IN OBEDIENCE

Before I begin, I will like us to share the same understanding of the title by giving the basic definition of the component words.
Walk:
1. To be in motion; to act; to move.
2. To take for a walk or accompany on a walk.

Walking:
1. Characterized by or suitable for walking.

I only just now discovered a new definition for Walking. Which I want us to pay a closer attention to;
Walking:
Incarnate as a human; living.
E.g. Pastor James is a walking epistle. Selah

Let's prepare our questions, if any.

Obey:
To do as one is told.
Obedient::
Willing to comply with the commands, orders, or instructions of those in authority.
Obedience:
The quality of being obedient.

Juxtaposing these together;
Walking In Obedience can be translated to mean;
Living a Life Of Following Instructions.

We all follow instructions everyday.
The question is whose instructions are we following?
Are we following?

The Life and Entirety of Our Existence is hinged on Obedience or Disobedience.
Which brings me to the anchor verse of this message.

Isaiah 1;19-20
If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;

But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword”;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Instruction is central to any organisation.
Instruction is crucial to any product.
Instruction is therefore central to the most important creation of God- Man.

Thanks to Myles Monroe, I found that God's Instruction/Manual to man is the Bible.
Even more appropriately- His Word.
His Revelation.

When we are born, we naturally inherit the rebellious, disobedient spirit of the fallen man, Adam.

Ps.51.5 - Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

This is why we all struggle with Obedience and naturally hate instruction and correction.

The moment you tell a child, don't do this.
In that very moment, he will start doing it.

Let's not be quick to judge the child.

Even as adults, we have not broken-forth into our
dreams, manifestations and divine promises simply because of our attitude to instruction.

Romans 7:15
For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

For this cause, God knew only He could save us from our rebellious and disobedient spirit.

1 Tim 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.

What the Scripture calls a Mystery, is a secret that cannot be understood until God breaks the seal of our understanding.
And even then, we understand in part.

Jesus Christ is the Mystery of Godliness. Selah

Only Jesus Christ could break us from the yoke and bondage of Disobedience and Rebellion.

Is it not curious, that even when our LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ has delivered us and finished the works, we are still struggling with Disobedience?

Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, walked among us.
Walked closely with his disciples for over 3 years.
Yet, they were still struggling with Unbelief, Fear, Disobedience.

He had to beg the father to send the Holy Spirit.

John.16.7 - Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

As a Born-again, New Creation, Spirit and Fire Filled, is it not curious that we still struggling with Disobedience?

It is simply because we are so strong-willed.

Some of us love our personalities more than we love Christ.
For some it is witchcraft.

Galatians 3:1-3
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?
This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

I wish I could expound more. But I trust the Holy Spirit to perfect all that is concerning our Obedience through the ministers.

The Goal of the Life of a Christian is to be Like Christ.
Not like our selves.
Not like our pastors.
Not like our idols.

The Holyspirit will use our personalities before Christ to minister to others, but that is not who we are called to be.

We are to become, Like Christ.

In conclusion,
God went to a great length to save us, not for us to continue to be the way we are.
Not for us to continue to struggle with sin.
Not for us to continue to live like mere men.
Not for us to want to be the best among our peers.
Not even for us to the best pastors.

Persephone1:
"Marry a typical Nigerian Man at your own peril"

When I type these words, it's not from a place of hate towards men ( I don't hate anybody) It is from careful analysis of marriages to Nigerian Men which mostly lack genuine love, empathy and kindness. Nigerian Marriages are mostly driven by "needs" and "means" to an end. Too systematic and unnatural and the one with the highest bargaining chip gets the most benefit.

Our mothers didn't teach us enough about Men. They didn't know either until they got married, unfortunately they are still learning about Men too. That is why the popular saying "Ile oko ile eko ni" (Your husband house is a school) is usually the soothing balm to unfavourable experiences a wife has with her husband. One question I always ask myself when I hear these words as parting words of advice for young wife is. Does that mean she is getting married into a strange, unknown and possibly unfavourable world? Why represent her husband as an unending course? And will she ever graduate and be relieved of painful lessons?. Ask these women these questions and they will shake their heads in mockery but the truth is, They weren't taught enough about the Men they are getting married to. How would they when they didn't know who they are either. To understand another person there must be a certain level of self awareness you have reached yourself. This way you have enough level of intelligence to be a perfect judge of character. But when a woman believe all she needs to be is a good cook and good konji reliever then all she will seek is a man who has Kitchen and bed.

Men are the worst in this joke of an institution. Configured to believe all they need to posses is Financial ability to provide. The upbringing of the typical Nigerian Man is very very wrong. Trained with little to no empathy, kindness, self care, sense of belonging, self love but burdened with sense of responsibility brought up like a robot to "provide" only. Most Nigerian men are robotic minded, unable to connect emotionally without aide yet this men are expected to naturally see their brides as a part of themselves. Wishful thinking if you ask me. And when some men luckily achieve this, the society (Men and Women) mock him. Aside this, they don't readily know what they want and are easily tossed by the society.

We create a society devoid of emotional engagement but want the benefits emotions birth. Compassion and affections brings liberty, a man who lacks these will see his wife as his slave and property, he gets to do with her what he seem best and not what is good for her. We really have a long way to go as a Society.

We all want to reach greater heights in life, we all want to be rich... No one wished to be born poor or to die poor, no one desires to do that “dirty” work, everyone wishes to be his or her own boss. No one wants to feel inferior to the other. No one wished to be looked down upon.. but come to think of this...

As the popular saying or slang goes, "This Life Nor Balance"... Yeah, it is true, it isn't balance. we are not born equally.. some people have opportunities than others.. some people met luck on the way, some people are way more privileged than the other.. some people have never known suffering throughout their life, some people were born with very good genes... and sadly, we have people on the other part as well...

If you're lucky to be born privileged, count yourself lucky... you're not wise, you're not smart, you were just lucky... give thanks to Jah..

You have a role to play, if you're were lucky to be born in the first part and also the second.. if everyone were rich, who will be driving commercial buses (danfo) or riding okada? or does everyone has the power to afford Uber or get their own car? especially in an economy that isn't favourable to most people? who will take out the thrash if everyone were rich? who will repair the soakaway or flush the septic tank? who will engage in hard labour on site to build all these structures for the “privileged? who will do all the “dirty” works you think you're too big for? who will do the maid or security works? is it the so called rich or powerful people? Respect everyone! we were made for each other to make life easy.. help people while you can, sometimes don't have any reason to render help if you have the power... just do it!

You were lucky to be born where opportunities will meet you faster.. some work very hard from scratch to get to where they are... some were not born lucky, some were born poor and will also die poor no matter how hard they work.. most people when they get successful in life, they think, this is because of the kind of school I read, or the exposure I got, or how smart I am, they forgot to mention the opportunities they had, the connections they had, the kind of people they were privileged to stay or work it... they think they were all that power and might to pull it off themselves easily...

You're not smart, you're just lucky...

I have accepted my fate okay. I hate that someone would love to have a family and you tag me as desperate. Everyone is thinking I'm desperate. But when I go ahead to have kids on my own because noone would take me seriously, I know the new names I will be called. And if I decide to be by myself, I will still be called names.
It's OK to own up to being desperate.
Our desperation is an access key.
Only the desperate can really see God's intervention.

Amos.6.1 - Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, And trust in Mount Samaria, Notable persons in the chief nation, To whom the house of Israel comes!

Read it from 1-14 and you'll see why.
Not acknowledging our desperation before God and some times before man is a communication of pride of the heart. Its a subtle kind of pride but very dangerouss all the same.

This is why Jesus Christ himself confirm this. We have to be desperate and hungry to contend for our spiritual inheritance. Cos only when you suffer for it will you value it.

Matt.11.12 - And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

It's the reason God says he hates Esau but Loves Jacob.
He knew afore-time that Esau did not care for his spiritual inheritance. But Jacob knew its worth and was even ready to trick his father for it. Even though God doesn't support trickery.
Imagine selling God's special gift for food just cos you're hungry? No matter how hungry you may be for material things, your hunger for the God and your spiritual inheritance should be more important.
Thats why God tests our seriousness with fasting.

Jesus Christ concludes thus;

John.4.34 - Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

I hope you've picked a thing or two.
I'm only communicating thus cos you are a worker. You should discern this.

In summary, more important than getting married and raising a family is seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Grow and have a balance spiritual, professional, academical, emotional, mental, etc life.
Know how God speaks to you and be willing to Obey.

Grace, Peace and Joy multiplied to you Amen.
