Saheed Yusuf popularly known as 'Spider' has issued a warning to those who tried to kill a chieftain of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a MC Oluomo, few days ago. MC Oluomo was stabbed in the neck during a violent clash at the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) governorship flag off Campaign on Tuesday, 8th January 2019. It was claimed that MC Oluomo was stabbed twice with a poisonous knife called Makenje (which literally translates to don’t touch blood). Saheed Yusuf who showed solidarity for MC Oluomo and prayed for his quick recovery, said that God/Allah is the only person that can bring someone to life and take their soul. He also sent out a warning to the person (s) who purchased the alleged poisonous knife which was meant to 'kill' MC Oluomo at the rally as he said that they should know that what goes around would surely come around. Meanwhile, reports have it that EKO Hospital, where MC Oluomo was rushed to for treatment after the attack - has been fully secured with armed officers of the Nigeria Police Force. A high court sitting in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, sentenced a retired Colonel, Oguboyo Richard to twenty five years imprisonment without option of fine. Ogunboyo, was charged for murder; he was alleged to have murdered one Felix Esan on the 15th of December 2016. Ogunboyo, who was the head of vigilante group in Iyin-Ekiti at that time, left in company of some members of the group around 9.30PM for the compound of the deceased at No. 1 Alaafia House, Iyin to fish out a suspected thief. The convict was said to have confronted Felix of being disrespectful and thus shot him in the presence of his friends in the room. After the deceased was shot, the retired Colonel and members of the group with him allegedly ordered all other friends of the victim out of the house to a place where they were kept till the following morning for baseless offences. On getting back to the compound in the following morning after their alleged illegal detection, the friends of the deceased said he could not be found whether dead or alive. In an effort to uncover the mystery surrounding the incident, a search party led by Omo Edema was launched from Mercy-Babs Communications which led to the discovery of the decaying body of Felix about two weeks later in a pit in the bush along Awo road, Iyin-Ekiti. In his judgement, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye said the case of murder against the convict could not be substantiated, but a case of manslaughter and therefore sentenced the 81-year-old retired military man to twenty five years in jail for killing Felix Esan. “Considering his age and the discretion of the court, he is hereby sentenced to 25 years imprisonment without an option of fine,” Ogunmoye ruled. Reports have it that Dangote refinery has taken delivery of a gigantic distillation component. It is learnt that the component is one of the biggest in the world as the refinery is billed to start producing PMS and allied products later this year. The engineers received the distillation component, which has attracted attention from Lagosians in Ibeju-Lekki area. The completion of Dangote Refinery this year will mark another milestone in the Nigerian oil and gas industry as the $11 billion refinery hold the prospect of stopping of refined petroleum products by Nigeria. The Dangote Refinery will produce 650,000 barrels per day of refined petroleum products to meet all the country’s refined petroleum products needs as well as export to other countries. Dangote, the promoter, said that the refinery projects were primarily meant to diversify the resource base of Nigeria. A man who organised the gang rape of his own girlfriend in Ogun state, has been apprehended. Three of the alleged five rapist have, however, been nabbed by police detectives in Ogun State, even as a serious manhunt for the two fleeing members of the the gang, including the said boyfriend, identified as Abass Ramoni, has begun. The 22-year-old victim (name withheld), reported at Adatan Police Station that she attended a carnival on January 3, 2018 on the invitation of her boyfriend, Abass, tagged: "Glorious Guys Carnival" , held at Elega Junction in Abeokuta. However, with the carnival rounding off at about 2:00am, she decided to pass the night with the said Abass in his House No. 11, Osoba Street, Elega, unknown to her that the boyfriend had allegedly connived with four other friends of his to take turns on her. According to the victim, while they were inside, the four hoodlums stormed the apartment and took turns on her, prompting her to lodge a complaint with the the police. To this end, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, "Upon the report, the DPO, Adatan Division, CSP Oluwadare Joshua, led his detectives to the area where three out of the five hoodlums were apprehended. The victim was quickly taken to the General Hospital for medical treatment, and report actually confirmed that the victim was raped". The PPRO gave the names of the suspects as Ramoni Yusuf, 24; Abiodun Sikiru, 23 and Moses Oluwasindara, 23, adding that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, who expressed disgust on the action of the hoodlums, had ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining two suspects,and also directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution of the suspects. Villarreal of Spain fast-rising youngster, Samuel Chukwueze, was sensational during the match against Real Madrid which ended 2-2 draw. The Nigerian forward who played all 90 minutes for Villareal was not on the score sheet but provided the assist for Carzola’s first goal and constantly terrorised the defence of the European champions. Football fans took to social media to praise the 19-year-old talent for stamping his authority during the game last night at Estadio de la Cerámica. Meanwhile, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Villarreal starlet Samuel Chukwueze, according to reports. Detectives investigating an assault on a woman in Clapham High Street on New Year’s Day, have arrested and charged a man. The 23-year-old Nigerian suspect identified as Andrew Akingbaje, was charged with assault by beating against two other women during the same incident. The young man previously claimed to have spent two years in the Tottenham Hotspurs youth setup, although the club has no record of him. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. The victim, Krystal Mission, 21, was repeatedly punched in the head outside Lotus nightclub, in Clapham, south London, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Akingbaje, who wore a grey tracksuit at Camberwell Magistrates' Court, in London, was released on conditional bail until January 31, when he will next appear. Footage of the attack appears to show a male in a blue T-shirt repeatedly punching Ms Mission in the head. The untimely deaths of two best friends and namesake who were killed in a fatal accident few days ago in Lagos, have left their families and friends devastated. The young ladies identified as Gloria, were reportedly on a motorcycle on Monday, December 31st, when they were hit by an SUV, according to reports. The ladies were said to have died on the spot following the impact of the accident and injuries sustained in the process. Their corpses have since been deposited at the morgue. Friends and colleagues of the deceased have also taken to social media to mourn their loses. May their souls rest in peace. Residents of Ekiti are calling on the government to step up security in the state due to the incessant killings. The latest being the killing of an accountant who worked at Emure local government by unknown gunmen. He was said to have been trailed and shot at close range by the armed men alleged to be robbers on Wednesday, January 2, (yesterday) along Ogbese Ikere road. The corpse of the deceased has been evacuated and deposited at the mortuary. This is coming just few days after gunmen shot dead 37-year-old councilor representing Ado Ward 9 at Ado Local Government Council in Ekiti, Deji Akeredolu. Akeredolu was on his way home at the Onala area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, when the incident happened. Akeredolu and his wife were said to have alighted from a motorbike at the junction to their house at about 10pm when the gunmen struck and fired shots at him from the back. Nigerians have reacted after church members stormed a watchnight service with cutlasses following instruction by the pastor. According to reports, the pastor said that each church member should come for the cross over night with a sharp cutlass and a red cloth for serious spiritual battle. In a trending video which has gone viral online, the pastor can be seen leading his congregation in an intense prayer while the members including women used their cutlasses to probably beat the hell out of the devil - while sitting on the ground. There was a brief commotion at a traditional event held recently during the festive period in Ekwulobia area of Anambra state. A masquerade held a young boy hostage (literally) and seized him in between his legs on the ground while refusing to let him go. While this was going on, people at the event gathered to rescue the boy who was struggling and were told to give the masquerade some money to appease him. The masquerade was given N20 before he was forced to release the boy. Watch the dramatic video below. Congratulations are in order for Noo Saro Wiwa, the daughter of Ogoni matyre and environmentalist Ken Saro-Wiwa, who was named among the top 30 most influential travelers in the world in 2018. The 42-year-old Nigerian writer, Noo Saro Wiwa, was listed among other top names such as American actress Angelina Jolie, late US journalist Marie Colvin, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah from Jordan among others. The survey was done and published by the international magazine Conde Nast Traveler. Noo Saro Wiwa grew up in Surrey, England which she describes as a bountiful paradise, far removed from the heat and chaos of Nigeria.’ Her book Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria, is a brave first foray into travel literature; Noo’s father Ken Saro-Wiwa, who campaigned against government corruption, was executed by the military dictatorship of his country in 1995. Noo had spent childhood summers in Port-Harcourt on the Niger Delta but after this, she didn’t return for 10 years (except for his funeral and burial), wanting nothing more to do with the country. A worker with Médecins Sans Frontières, also known in English as Doctors Without Borders, has joined a host of other Nigerians to mourn the loss of former Nigerian president, Shehu Shagari, who died on Friday, December 28th, after a brief illness. Ibrahim Ashafura, took to Facebook to reveal that he was supposed to take care of Shehu Shagari on the day he died as he shared a picture of him looking after the ex-president. He wrote; Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun. May your gentle soul rest in paradise. I was supposed to take care of you today. I still can't believe you are gone. Shehu Usman Shagari.
