More details have emerged concerning the man who committed suicide few days ago by setting himself on fire after reportedly butchering his wife in Abia state. It was gathered that the late mechanic simply identified only as Ejike, had a misunderstanding with his wife so he allegedly used a machete to hack her in Ezere, in the Isiukwuato local government area of Abia state. Report had it that Ejike, fearing that his wife may not survive the attack, went into his car where there was a container of fuel, poured it on himself and set himself on fire with a match. A friend of the deceased took to social media to reveal the supposed cause of the couple's misunderstanding before the tragic incident. The friend wrote on Facebook; EJIKE WHY? ON SATURDAY, 15TH OF DECEMBER, 2018, I WAS IN YOUR WORK SHOP AT AKARA JUNCTION TO SERVICE MY ACURA MDX. IN YOUR USUAL COOL AND AMIABLE WAY, YOU ATTENDED TO ME WITH DISPATCH AND BID ME FAREWELL. THIS WAS AROUND 6PM. ON MY WAY BACK TO ABA THE NEXT DAY SUNDAY, 16TH, AROUND 9PM, I GOT A CALL FROM HOME THAT MY MECHANIC, EJIKE HAS BURNT HIMSELF ALIVE INSIDE HIS JEEP. STORY IS THAT WHILE HE WAS ENJOYING HIMSELF WITH HIS FRIENDS IN A BAR THAT SUNDAY AFTERNOON, A FRIEND CALLED HIM THAT HIS WIFE WAS SEEN INSIDE ANOTHER MANS PICK UP VAN. THAT'S ALL. MY GOOD FRIEND, THE HUMBLEST AND MOST HONEST AUTO MECHANIC I HAVE KNOWN IN MY LIFE ABANDONED HIS DRINKS AND RAN HOME. WITHOUT VERIFYING THE INFORMATION, STARTED BEATING HIS WIFE WHO THEY CLAIM HAS NOT BEEN LIVING IN PEACE WITH HIM. HE BROUGHT OUT THE WIFE'S MARKET GOODS (STOCK FISH ) AND SET THEM ABLAZE. ATTACKED HIS WIFE WITH A MACHETE SEVERALLY BEFORE THE WIFE WAS ABLE TO RUN AWAY WITH SEVERE CUTS. MY FRIEND THEN BROUGHT OUT HIS PHONE AND OVER N20, 000 IN CASH AND HANDED OVER TO HIS 13 YEARS OLD SON. RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS SON AND TWO OTHER SIBLINGS, HE CARRIED A 25 LITRS PLASTIC BUCKET OF FUEL AND POUR ON HIMSELF. RAN INTO HIS CAR, LOCKED THE DOORS AND SET HIMSELF ABLAZE AND ENDED IT.....I am sad because I never suspect that Ejike is capable of this behavior. If marriage is no longer enjoyable, why not separate it in peace and remain useful to yourself and family? Why must we remain in a for better for worse marriage until one person dies? We must know that there is abundant life after marriage.. My sympathy goes to the children and his family and all those my fellow customers who will miss his humble services this Christmas..EJIKE, You missed it. Whatever is your reason, you should have considered other options. At least for the sake of this lovely kids God gave you. You are no more with us. It is your choice. And we cannot question God. .With tears in my eyes..., I can only say "REST IN PEACE" Credit; Sarah Eke.
