South African artist Ayanda Mabulu is trending on Twitter as people there react to his latest controversial art work showing President Jacob Zuma having sex with Nelson Mandela. The Nelson Mandela Foundation has issued a statement saying that though it respects the right to freedom of expression it finds the "painting distasteful".

The governing ANC says it finds the work "grotesque, inflammatory and of bad taste - but the party also defends the right for the artist to express himself.

Mabulu has in the past drawn a number of pictures showing the president in sexually explicit positions.

Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade has described as tragic and horrifying the loss of several lives at a viewing centre in Calabar, the state capital. A horrified Ayade said it was heartwrenching that the lives of the young men were lost in such a gripping manner through electrocution.

The governor, according to a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press, Mr Christian Ita, said the incident marks a dark chapter in the life of the state.

While commiserating with the families of the victims of the tragedy, the governor promised that the state government will look into the likely cause of the incident with a view to preventing a reccurence.

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II on Wednesday played host to the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Sanusi Muhammadu Sanusi. The Emir accompanied by senior members of Kano Emirate Council said he was in Ile-Ife to formally congratulate Ooni on His ascension to the throne of his forefathers and to appreciate him for his fatherly role sequel to the recent Hausa/Fulani crisis in Ile-Ife.

The Emir thanked Ooni and the people of Ife for the warm reception given to him and prayed for the robust continued relationship between Kano Emirate and Ife Kingdom.

After presenting the Emir with an artwork gift representing the cultural diversity in Nigeria and the unity of the people, Ooni Ogunwusi and his chiefs led the Emir and his entourage on a visit to the Hausa community at the Sabo area of the town where they both had a brief meeting with Seriki Hausa and his people.

..A man who identified himself as Moses Edwin, a prophet in one of the orthodox churches in Lagos was on Friday arrested by men of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command for stealing $500 belonging to a customer while trying to convert $5,000 into Naira.

Edwin, 50, a bureau de change operator and his gang member, Daniel Ebhohimen, were arrested beside Airport Hotel, Ikeja three days after stealing $500 from $5,000 bills presented to them by one Bayo Lookman for conversion into naira.


The two suspect had in exchanging $5,000 for Bayo Lookman, a member the National Youth Service Corp serving in Lagos, surreptitiously removed $500 from the notes presented to them for confirmation opposite Airport Hotel, Ikeja.


Edwin had promised an exchange rate of N387 to a dollar while negotiating with Bayo. He thereafter invited another member of his gang, Ebhohimen who together while confirming the dollars removed $500 before handing over $4500 back to unsuspecting Bayo in his car.


According to Bayo, “I was trying to help my mum change the $5,000. I got to Airport Hotel and I met these men. After negotiating back and forth, they offered me N387 to a dollar.


They took my details on the ground that the transaction was going to be online. Edwin requested that I surrender the $5,000 bills for them to confirm. Reluctantly, I gave them but I was monitoring them and I was counting along with them in my car”.

He went further, “they were mid-way into the counting when another member of the gang distracted me from the driver side of my car.


Thereafter, they handed back the money to me that it was complete. They told me to keep it in order for their colleagues not to see us and we headed to one of the banks in Opebi.


We entered the bank. All along they prevented me from counting the money. At the bank, they told me the rate they gave me was no longer possible and that they were backing out but I offered for a renegotiation.


I told them to excuse me and I went into the gent to confirm the money. I counted it and $500 was missing. Before I could come out they had ran away. The door attendants told me he saw them rushing out of the bank.


I went to where I met them but I couldn’t see them. It was the third day that I saw Edwin and I invited the police”.


Edwin in his statement to the police, acknowledged the crime. He stated he never followed the gang to bank, adding that he only ordered his other gang members to finish up the transaction. He added that he was given N10, 000 when they came back from the bank.


Edwin there after assured the police that his gang was ready for amicable settlement by paying back the missing $500.

Sources revealed that Edwin and Ebhohimen are part of the fraudsters turned bureau de change operators lurking around Airport Hotel, Ikeja; Alade Market in Allen Avenue; Olugbede Market, Egbeda; Opposite BRT Terminal in Igando engaging in various kinds of dollar related crime.

The two suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.

This is very unfortunate. The little daughter of a traditional ruler in Dass local government area in Bauchi state -was gruesomely murdered by suspected ritualists who gouged out her eyes in the process. According to Dauda Ibrahim Sarki, the sad incident happened on Saturday, 15/4/2017 as the girl's corpse was dumped at an uncompleted building.

A woman whose heart is filled with thankfulness has shared her unfortunate story to celebrate exactly one year after surviving a fire mishap in her home. Read below what was shared by Chioke Adaobi on Facebook.

God over do for me ooo. Exactly one year today 14/4/2016 at about 11pm that God delivered me from the hands of death. If not God, where would I have been maybe at the graveyard but God says is not yet time that I have not completed my mission here on earth.

Brethren, U may be asking what happen cos some don't know the story" now listen I asked my house help to bring kerosene for me to top up my stove and there was already fire in one of the stoves and because I was in a hurry, I decided not to quench the stove.

I just open the kero and pour it into the stove without knowing it was fuel what I saw was blaze of fire all over my cloth and everywhere. I said to myself that I will not die but started shouting help, help help before my neighbour s could come I HV torn my cloth and was complete naked. We are struggle to get rid of the kitchen fire but to God's glory we succeeded and that was when I remembered that my body was burnt.

I was rush to hospital and stayed there for weeks only God knows what I passed through. To cut the story short I am alive testifying with my mouth in the land of living.

Many had this type of experience but lost their lives. I know of husband, wife and house help that could not survive it and so many. Pals join me in thanking God cos His mercies endures forever and ever. Praise God cos is not by my making but because God Win oooooooo
