BusinessRe: Sanusi Incompetent To Manage CBN? by prettyG: 9:03am On Dec 12, 2009
Sam7:
Nigerians sometimes don't look at issues objectively. The man SLS just has a first degree in Economics and a masters degree in islamic studies and the likes. Check his profile and you will not be able to place your hand on a single masters degree in Economics! It is not enough for someone to have experience in credit risk management alone and then make him the CBN governor. Banking and running the economy is not just about credit risk. it is more than that. If you even pay close attention to how the cr4edit risk departments of Nigerian banks are being run, you will realise that they just do some set of routines adn nothing more. To manage the economy of a country, you need ingenuity. See the academic profile of Ben Shalom Bernanke of the US Fed Res Bank or even Timothy Geithner of the US Treasury and you will realise these men have what it takes. Ben's highest qualification is a PhD in Economics but SLS's highest is a basic first degree from ABU in Economics. Ia m sure you won't compare a Havard graduate with an Ahmadu Bello University graduate. SLS is just not qualified to run our economy. Little wonder he runs his mouth with no understanding. He doesn't know banking, Yaradua just put in someone from the north! Simple! Anyway, I cannot blame Yaradua since he is also of the same feather.

Let us all go and check out the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the UK and see what his qualifications are as well as his experience. These people are top notch braniacs. Those that govern our country are just plain mediocres. Only an unpriviledged few have the stuff we need to move this nation forward. America is where it is today because they had and will always have sound men leading every aspect of their economic and social life.
The beauty of life is that everything is easy to check out so that liars like you can always be called out. The Chancellor of the Exchequer in Britain is Alastair Darling, and he has a degree in Law, not Economics.

Look at the pro-Sanusi folks here . . . speaks volumes as to why they "support" Sanusi no?  grin Talk of hypocrisy.
Religion is no issue as far as i'm concerned but i would rather someone from the south BEFORE anyone from the North. I've taught for a few months in the north . . . i know how hopeless the educational system is there.
Goodluck having a sharia graduate as your primary care physician . . .

Err Sudan-trained in what exactly? I see Nigerians here at Harvard, i know 2 cousins to a friend who are Wharton BS graduates . . . and we have a sharia graduate as head of our financial system? No wonder no one takes us seriously.
how typically arrogant. i have lived in the uk for years. i have a first class in computer science and a masters in same from kings college. my boss did not go to university but answer to him. why is that? because experience is a better teacher than any classroom. and looking at sanusi's cv, he has tons of that.

PoliticsRe: Lets Talk About Ngige by prettyG: 12:56am On Nov 13, 2009
noblezone:
Let us put some records straight>

1. Ngige did not steal the mandate, but was a beneficiary to a stolen mandate. Ngige did not have the might to steal the mandate, rather the mandate was stolen by the Ubasanjo mafia with the INEC as the executioner. Then they handed the mandate to the Ngige who simply used the mandate to work for Anambra people. Furthermore, I dont know where this writer came from, but the Supreme Court as he quoted had nothing whatsoever to do with that case. The case stopped at the Apeal Court.

2. If Ngige did not go to that shrine, he would never had become governor. The Ubasanjo would had put in their kind who will do their bidding. APGA's case at the tribunal would had been thrown out and Obi would never had become governor. And Anambra would not had made any progress. When he used the mandate to restore some dignity to our state, we had come to trust him.

3. Ngige did not give Uba any Ireevocable Standing Order of payment, rather Ngige stoped the one given to Uba by Mbadiniju imidiately he (Ngige) came to power. It was among the things Ngige did to become a "bad guy" in the PDP camp.

Ngige doing Ubas bidding? If he was doing his bidding, why was Uba angry with him? On the contrary, Ngige upon becoming governor, refused to do any of Uba's biddings and that was the cause of the whole trouble.

4. I am suprised at the above comments; it is either the writer is commpletely ignorant of the facts or is simply being misshievious. I could remember that Ngige's input in education resulted incase where UniZik was the only University in Nigeria that had all her courses acredited by the NUC (as at then). Yet, before Ngige, Ananmbra had no feel of government.

Finally, Ngige had nothing to loose if he did the biddings of the Ubasanjo, today he would had been among the Iboris, the Odilis, and their likes. That guy is a hero in Anambra State for he wresttled the state out of the hands of our enemies both internal and external.
Oga sir, Chris Uba was not Mbadinuju's godfather it was Emeka Offor. All of these people that come online to defend criminals sef na wa for una. Ngige only began to 'work' for Anambra people when he was left naked and was hoping to find locus standi with which to win an election.

any of you that is criticising Sanusi for taking tough action against bankers must be on something strong. This is the result of the UK government being soft on people like Fred Goodwyn. The recession is not over and they have already started awarding themselves huge bonuses.

The age of the City mega-bonus really is back, according to a survey of bankers which found almost two thirds expect their payout to match or beat last year's package, with one in ten predicting a record windfall.

Having survived the biggest economic downturn since the 1930s, a third of all traders, analysts and fund managers in the City and elsewhere in Europe said they expect a fatter bonus this year, according to a quarterly poll by Bloomberg.

By comparison 40% of Asia's moneymen expect a bigger pay out, while only 30% of American bankers believe their 2009 bonus would be higher than last year.

That suggests President Obama's pay czar Ken Feinberg — who has the job of approving pay rates for executives at bailed out firms — is having some success in his remit of slashing massive pay-outs.

Feinberg claims he had cut overall pay by half and slashed bonuses by 90% for the top 25 executives at state-aided firms including AIG, Citigroup, Bank of America, GM and Chrysler.

The survey of banker attitudes also found that almost half of European financiers believe government attempts to limit compensation will help control financial risk-taking.

By contrast, only 27% of US respondants said that pay cuts would have the desired effect.
