& bad news for Tottenham

Who will be Real Madrid’s next
manager?
Huge news have broken in Spain on Thursday.
Days after Real Madrid beat Liverpool to win the
Champions League for a historic third successive
season, Zinedine Zidane has quit as manager.
Zidane’s record with Real Madrid reads as follows:
149 games. 104 wins. 3 Champions League trophies. 1
La Liga. 0 European knock-out defeats.
But now all attention switches to who will be the next
Real Madrid manager. The bookies have been quick to
price up their odds.
Paddy Power: Next Real Madrid manager odds
Arsene Wenger is the favourite
Arsene Wenger is the favourite with Paddy Power to
become Real Madrid’s next boss.
Obviously Wenger is easily attainable now that he’s
left Arsenal after 22-years at the club.
Real Madrid manager tip: Wenger is 5/2

Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino
Spurs fans will no doubt be worried.
The bookies have price Tottenham’s Mauricio
Pochettino as the second favourite for the Real Madrid
post.
Last week Pochettino signed a new five-year contract
with Tottenham that ties his future down until 2023.
Yet rumours have been swirling that Pochettino has a
get-out clause in that deal which could allow him to
move to Real Madrid.
Pochettino has been talked up as a possible successor
to Zidane ever since Spurs beat Madrid in last year’s
Champions League.
Real Madrid manager tip: Pochettino is 3/1
with Paddy Power
Chelsea’s Antonio Conte
Third favourites for the bookies is Chelsea boss
Antonio Conte.
While Conte remains under contract at Chelsea until
2019, most understand that the Blues would like to
appoint Maurizio Sarri instead.
If Conte could join Real Madrid, Chelsea would be free
to sign the former Napoli coach.
Real Madrid manager tip: Conte is 7/1 with

Jose Mourinho & Unai Emery
Looking at the rest of the names being bandied about,
former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is 30/1 to
move back to Los Blancos.
Unai Emery, having just joined Arenal, is 50/1. While
near the bottom of the list is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is
priced at 66/1 to be the next Real Madrid manager.

Zinedine Zidane has announced that he is
leaving Real Madrid this summer. The
Frenchman has enjoyed an unprecedented
level of success during his three years at
the Santiago Bernabéu, and his unexpected
departure has caused arguably the biggest
vacancy in world football.
There are a number of contenders for the
role, as Real attempt to find a manager as
successful as Zidane, who won three
Champions League trophies since taking
over from Rafael Benitez in January 2016
as well as a league title in 2016/17.
Germany national team manager Joachim
Loew has emerged as the early favourite,
while youth-team manager and former
player Guti is also likely to be in the
frame.
Real may also decide to attempt to poach a
successful Premier League manager. They
likely wouldn’t encounter much resistance
if they tried to recruit Antonio Conte from
Chelsea , although tempting Mauricio
Pochettino to the club from Tottenham
Hotspur could prove difficult. The
Argentinian signed a new five-year deal
with the north London club last week.

It is not yet clear why Zidane will be leaving, but it
may be that he’s keen to go out on a high at the
Bernabeu after so much instant success at the start
of his management career.
Known for being one of the best players in the world
during his playing days, he has already won more
Champions League titles than big names like Jose
Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.
One imagines a number of top clubs could be
queuing up for him as he becomes available.

The Portuguese forward has hinted at a summer
switch away from the Spanish capital, but will he
follow the advice of a his family if a deal is done?
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted at a summer move
away from Real Madrid and his mother would
prefer a return to Manchester United over a switch
to Paris Saint-Germain .
Having helped the Blancos to a third successive
Champions League crown, the Portuguese went on
to refer to his time at the Santiago Bernabeu in the
past tense .
Transfer talk was immediately sparked, with
Ronaldo offering contradictory messages regarding
his future since then to keep the rumour mill ticking
over .

Few clubs would be willing to put a deal in place
were the exit doors to be opened in Spain, with
only those with the deepest pockets capable of
pulling off such a coup.
United and PSG would form part of that exclusive
club and Dolores Aveiro has suggested to her son
that a second stint at Old Trafford should be taken
in if he really does want a fresh start.
She told SFR Sport prior to Ronaldo’s exit hint in
Kiev: “I like Paris. I go there now and again.
“The last time was with my son when he won the
Ballon D'Or. I felt very proud.
“Every time I go to Paris, everyone treats me very
well.
“If I'm telling you the truth, I wouldn't mind, but I
would prefer him to return to Manchester.”
Ronaldo told reporters after helping Madrid to a 3-1
victory over Liverpool when quizzed on where he
will be for the 2018-19 campaign : “Money is not
the problem.
“I have won five Champions Leagues and five
Ballons d'Or. I had already made history, but now
even more.
“I cannot guarantee anything. I'm not going to hide,
in the next few days I'll talk... Life is not just about
glory.”
A day later, as the Blancos paraded their
Champions League crown through the streets of
Madrid, Ronaldo appeared to have performed a U-
turn as he told revellers: “It's a happy moment and
we are very happy, too. Hala Madrid and nothing
else!
“Thank you, guys. Until next year...”
Ronaldo’s Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale also
revealed after claiming another major title that he
will be weighing up his options this summer , with
the Wales international another of those to have
been linked with a move to United for some time.
Neither star turn has made a decision as yet,
though, so the rumours appear set to rumble on
until a definitive statement is made or a big-money
bid tabled. |
