Check out convre.com

It is a discussion platform for Africans.

What can you do on Convre?
1. Create a community
2. Search for communities to join
3. Each community has their own moderators that set the guidelines that all members of the community can follow.

And much more.
We're running the beta testing, and given the ban on Twitter, Nigerians need an alternative to have modularized and meaningful discussions.

Hop in, your communities await you.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Twitter To Recruit Experts Of Nigerian Languages For Its Operations In Ghana by PrinceCEE(m): 6:34pm On Apr 13, 2021
CSTRR:
That is what I have been saying.
Nigeria should be getting Twitter HQ by default.

We have everything. The market, the skilled manpower.
Everything Twitter needs.
Jack Dorsey himself was in Lagos sometime ago.

Unfortunately what we lacked was a decent FG.
Agents of the Buhari govt threatening Twitter.
Free speech and freedom looking like a suggestion under the weight of the incoming social media bill.

Jack Dorsey had to make an alternate.
Move to ghana, while still playing in the Nigerian tech market.

A win for Ghana, A win for Twitter but a lose to Nigeria.

You get the drift.

The positioning was also strategic, Ghana being very close to Nigeria. Their main target market is Nigeria, but because of the bad policies et al, they had to put the HQ in Ghana.

What do you think of a better discussion platform for Africans and those interested in Africa?

Well my own take is what's so special about the hijab?

The christian Roman Catholic Reverend Sisters as all know and always seen at all times are always adorning their head with a veil (that's equivalent of Hijab) all the time,so what's the fuse about the Muslims following their religious teachings by always covering their head. I believe that every open minded individual knows there are several bible verses that talk about covering of hair for the women.

I bet you didn't understand what you read!

Nobody is against Muslim girls wearing hijab. But what they're against is them wearing the hijabs in environments they're not accepted.

There is everything wrong with their business model.

Google has unfair advantage, google dorminate the search engine market because of many monopolistic things they do.

Google is american, how will an American company be dominating everything in The world.

How will home startup grow if 90% of the traffic goes to google, no varieties for consumers

Damn!! This is funny.

America started the Internet revolution.

Google has an indirect monopoly over search engine business, same monopoly that Yahoo, an American company enjoyed. See guy, don't make this an American stuff. Google is good with their craft, just as much as every other Tech giant like Microsoft, Amazon etc.

It's business.

The way tech giants force ads on us is too much.

I wish social media regulation would mean thesame thing here in Nigeria.

If you're not ready to see the ads, are you willing to pay for using their platform?

thebosstrevor1:
How i wish Nigeria can implement this type of law, it will be nice.

Google especially has an unfair advantage especially in advertising of their subsidiaries, no other companies can compete with them on search engine.

For example, Google has a subsidiary called YouTube, if a small competitor wants to do similar video sharing as YouTube, that startup wont get traffic at all because once a user type in any keyword relating to video, the search results shows all videos from YouTube on the first page. That is bad and unfair..Google with their search engine kills small businesses.

With Google search engine, Google acts like a very big global monopoly that wont allow small competitor to survive because they want advertising money for only themselves

And you think that Google just had to put Youtube there and not because of SEO, the youtube videos were shown on first search?

Javascript and Python

Javascript is the only programming language that gives python a run for it's money.. Most programmers don't see javascript as a very good language but why I find javascript so impressive is cos it is the language of web browsers so demand for it will remain high for the foreseeable future!
The disadvantage is it can only be used in Web development.

Python on the other hand is the fastest growing programming language in the world....It is very flexible .The only disadvantage I see in Python is you can't use it for front-end web development or front-end app development..

Lols... People will just write what they don't know.

So you know, JavaScript is being used outside the scope of web development, and you can use Python to write front-end apps.

You know already , why do you want to clarify ?

I wonder why a kid like you would have so much vile against the male folks.

Having stumbled on your posts too many times, I wouldn't but imagine why you've so much hate at such a young age. Just 16!!!

It baffled me after getting to know that you're preparing for Jamb.

I'd advise you subdue such hatred. Nairaland ain't a life. If nairaland is affecting you in any way, I'd advise you just as I'd advise my younger sister, stay away from here, so as to restore your sanity.

I had to write too many words because it pains me seeing a young girl like you in this state.

Replying those uncultured set of generation from a certain tiny region in Nigeria makes you look like them. I was privileged to do my NYSC in their region and God made me to see the rottenness in their culture. Since then, no amount of uncultured statement i get from them, i quickly reflect on those ugly experiences. Please, don't be moved, that is their culture, nothing like respect for anyone even their parents. The earlier you understand this, the better you tolerate them.

So, i am not surprised. I even expect the worst adjectives from them them.

I'm sorry sir...

But you too are ridiculously stupid.

I'm fully aware you're referring to the Igbos. I'm an Igbo guy and I school in the West, so I've met a number of Yoruba people. I've encountered the good ones and also the bad ones, but will I for the sake of the bad ones generalise that the Yorubas are bad? That's quite stereotypical!

I ask myself, why on earth would you guys turn nairaland to some crazy den of ethnic wars?

You're clearly not different from the other guy I quoted because you guys bear the same stereotype against each regions. That's quite bad!

Also, the initial value of i cannot be 1, as any number % 1 = 0. This means no number will pass the test. Therefore, i should be initialized to 2 at the start of the loop.

Yeah! This is a bug... I never run the code.

You're supposed to assume the number to be prime initially, with isPrime = true.
Then inside the if statement, if a factor is found, you set isPrime to false.

What efficiency does it bring by doing it your way?

Did you run the code and it produced a wrong answer?

I never ran it anyway, I typed with my phone, but that code doesn't have a bug!

Welcome to the family!

If you need proper quotation for a standard solar setup, always do your home work first by calculating your load total and run time.
Except you're ready to a pay a pro that would just look at the listed load and give you a quote for oversized system which will pay you but more expensive.

Load wattage and run time always make a big difference in a solar setup and I believe you're here to get the best at a reasonable cost.

You can start by getting the wattage of all the load and the hours they will run during the day and night.

Thanks for replying.

I've settled to remove the AC and fridge from the consumption, so as to maximise the power.

My total load would be 535W if I remove the AC and fridge.

So, I'd be glad if you and others would suggest the best configuration that would enable I have a minimum of 20hrs of light per day, even if phcn fails.

Another question: I've been using a 1kva inverter since April, last two years. I only use a 15w bulb, a laptop and a fan. When I started using it, I could use it for 3 days, although nepa do bring light in between and I use the laptop and fan at the same time. But some time last year, I used a soldering iron on it, as I wanted to solder one of my appliances. Since then, I hardly get up to 10hrs straight just on using my laptop and no fan some times, it's less than 6hrs. If I use the fan, I doubt it'd sustain up to 4hrs. What could likely be the problem? Is it the battery or the inverter itself?
