Op, with the recent Fulani menace in almost every part of the country, I doubt majority of southerners(SW, SE, SS) will again make the mistake of supporting northerners for presidency again irrespective of their party affiliation. Your prediction would have been possible months back but with current events, if there will be an election come 2023, any northern candidate of Fulani extraction from any of the two parties will be a failed project in the south. Wike is the most tribalistic governor in Nigeria. He doesn't regard any people not ikwerre. Rather he will find means to subdue them. Even Rivers indigenes are not left out. He awarded contract to Julius Berger and mandated them to use Rivers indigenes, he shared covid-19 palliatives to indigenes alone, he is proposing to recruit 5k teachers of only Rivers indigenes. Slaughter markets and Oil mil markets have all been closed cos it's mainly populated by Hausa and Igbos respectively. Reports have it that he wants to buy those markets from their communities. ikokwu spares parts populated by Igbos was closed down throughout and beyond the period of covid-19. He opened it just few months ago only to close them down. All the projects he's been executing have all been in two LGAs(obio akpor and Phc) out of the 23 LGAS in Rivers state. The reason covid-19 palliatives were not hoard in Rivers state was simply cos of his ego. He refused to retrieve Rivers state share of palliatives sent to Cross River by FG. |

The Sun Nigeria HomepageNational Rapheal in CoverNational I never ordered attack on Yoruba assets -IPOB leader Magnus Eze, Enugu Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has denied that he ordered the destruction of economic assets of Yoruba people in Lagos State. He said that agents of the Federal Government carefully twisted parts of his recent broadcast to create impression that he had turned the EndSARS protests against Yoruba. He spoke Thursday afternoon, in an emergency Zoom meeting on the topic: “#EndSARS is not an ethnic protest, stop the propaganda to make it one”, organised by Njenje Media TV on the ethnicization of the #ENDSARS movement. The event, moderated by Maazi Ezeoke also featured former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode. Kanu stated that those who caused division between Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe during their time were bent on pitching Ndigbo and Yoruba against themselves. He was emphatic that Britain was trying to divide Southern again for the North to conquer but that they had failed. He asked people to ignore any divisive statements regarding Yoruba or any other ethnic group in Nigeria, credited to him, urging that to really situate what he said, one must listen to the about 2hour broadcast. He said: “I made a broadcast a few days ago when young people were being slaughtered at Lekki Tollgate. In that very speech, I was very clear and unambiguous but the people who cut and paste and put the clips together were trying to be very mischievous. Their intension was to infuse an element of tribalism or ethnicity in the ongoing campaign of young people to free themselves from the bondage they have found themselves in Nigeria. And that intension I believe, failed woefully. At no time did I insinuate or say anything conveying the erroneous impression that they are now peddling that we were going to take over or control Lagos State… “My stand is that I support our young people, I support the protesters, I also support the right of people to express their views without being distorted. As I said before, they cut out what I said and then quoted me out of context. If you want to know what I said, and the context I made the statements, you have to listen to the whole perspective (broadcast)”. |
it's high time our southern brothers wake up from sleep. We are fighting the wrong enemies. |
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has asked the federal government to stop pretending that it was sincere about meeting the demands of EndSARS protesters to end police brutality in the country. Governor Wike accused the federal government of paying lip service to the demands of the #EndSARS protesters by directing state governors to set up judicial panels of enquiry to investigate and identify erring police officers for prosecution. The governor spoke in a live interview that was aired by AIT from Port Harcourt, the rivers state capital, on Friday. The National Executive Council (NEC), which issued the directive to state governors, had said the that panels were expected to conclude the investigation within six months and report back to the federal government. “What judicial panel of enquiry are you talking about?” Wike had said when asked to speak on it. The governor recalled that a panel he set up two years ago to investigate SARS in Rivers State had allegedly indicted several operatives of the defunct police unit, but that the police and federal government failed to act on it because they were “playing politics”. Wike said, “The Rivers State Government had set up a judicial panel of enquiry…most officers of SARS were indicted. We sent it to the police. Have they implemented it? “Why? Because they were playing politics with it. Now you’re directing me again to go and set up judicial enquiry. Who is going to pay for that? Go and implement the one that was set up before…tell your police to implement the one that was set up before that indicted some of these officers. “I don’t need to be directed. I know my job and I’ve done it two years ago, but you refused to implement it simply because you believed that SARS was working for you.” Wike also dismissed NEC’s directive that state governors should supervise the new tactical squad that is being set up by the police to replace the defunct SARS. He said, “You’re telling me now that governors should supervise the tactical units. When did governors become so powerful to control the police? To now begin to supervise the tactical units? “Is it not the same governors you said would use [them] for politics that you are now telling to supervise? I did not appoint the people; the Commissioner of Police is not under me. How do I supervise.” Wike further called on the federal government to be sincere with Nigerians if truly wants to solve the complaints about police brutality in the country. He said, “Don’t make the public believe that you’re trying to solve the problem when you know sincerely that you’re not solving any problem. So, I cannot begin to jump up as a state governor because we have been told to do so when we know it would not work.” https://thewhistler.ng/wike-to-fg-stop-deceiving-endsars-protestersyoure-not-sincere-about-solving-any-problem/amp/ Seun mynd44 |
