They would have shown hunger but you will be thrashed 4-0 3-0 2-1

You don't take quacks to WC. That is the pinnacle of football.
What makes you think they would have been thrashed? You have to realize that I seriously question the true age of our U-17, and at least they would have been more agile. I would mix them with Kalu, Martins, Osaze, Yakubu, Victor Anichebe, Haruna, and find some reliable defenders from the local league. It would have been a good mix of youth and experience, without compromising fitness. I would worry about fitness more than these our so called seasoned guys. I will NEVER pick a player who does not play regularly, or who has not played at all, for his club.

HOnestly, I don't think Siasia would have taken the majority of guys on this team. I mean why is Danny Shittu on this team? Why is Yobo? Why is Nsofor? Why is Kanu on the team?

Stanley Okoro would have helped; at least I don't think he will be scared of Messi

You are retarded!

So did the replacing coach change the players?

With your cement brain, tell me which 23 players you would have taken to WC then!
Sagamite, I would have taken a bunch of the "U-17" guys to the tournament.

Never been a fan of Shittu even since the Amodu era but people keep saying he gives his best and stuff. He's not agile enough
Who cares?? Football is not gra gra abeg
No doubt he gives his best, but if his best is below standard, should the team keep suffering because he gives his "best?" You are right, sha. Football no be gra gra! The guy gra gra too much!

You are talking of 90 minutes . . . Shittu hasn't even played a second of Premier League football this season.
It's a shame
So why is Shittu on the team. That Shittu guy is always sweating and shouting and breathing hard, even if he has been standing in one spot for the entire game.

I don't think a lot of people know how good the Americans are.
They almost won the Confederations Cup last year losing a 2-0 lead to Brazil in the final.

Comparing USA to Nigeria is absurd
You are so right. The USA team is good. They don't have "big names," but they have fit guys who are ready to go out there and fight. A lot of our players do not even play 90 mins for their clubs, so how are they supposed to run. Sometimes our Eagles forget that football is a game that involves running; they think it involves posing. And if you are a coach that sees that your players cannot chase the opponents for 90 mins, then they are not fit enough to be on the team.

@prince12k

You are right. The USA have even equalized sef. It is 1-1 all square against the supposedly "supernatural" English side.
Thank you. Our boys appeared scared of the Argentines. I have played competitive football and the first way to get defeated is to fear your opponent. I don't give a hoot about Messi, Tevez, or whatever; they Eagles should have gone out to fight. The guys with the fighting spirits (Osaze, Martins, Kalu, etc) were on the bench, and it set a terrible tone for the rest of the game. Why do you not start your best guys.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 8:21pm On Jun 12, 2010
Our team is also missing the energy of people like Stanley Okoro. Seriously we need to disband the current Eagles, with maybe the exception of 5 players or so, and build around the U-17 guys and guys from the local leagues who are fit, can run, and play regularly. Football is not about name and the club for which you play; it is about speed and fitness and teamwork.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 8:18pm On Jun 12, 2010
If you are watching the USA game you will see that the USA are in the game to fight, for they are going after and putting pressure on the English anytime they get possession. Our Super Eagles just admired Messi's footballing skills today.

I am afraid i have overestimated your intelligence in football related issues.
They were nowhere the Naija players when Lagerback brought in his subs. . . . .They were nowhere Martins when he unleashed his pile-driver.
At what cost do you play aggressive football? We were not aggressive and i could count the number of times Messi dived - looking for a cheap freekick around the penalty box.

So what's the point in being aggressive if your team still concedes plus risking the chance to cop RED CARDS?
This is not African Football that you are used to - this is the world cup.
Lagerback started with 4-4-2. He didn't set the team up to be defensive.
so what is your point, then? If Largerback did not set up the team to be defensive, why were they not more on the offense. The reason is that if you sit around and watch your opponent, then they will settle down to make passes. The reason we are even having this conversation is that Vincent Enyeanma stopped so many goals, for the score line could have been easily been 4-0, the way the Eagles played today.

@ Princek12

you hit the nail on the head my brother. That was an epitomized display of homosexuality in the game of football that the super eagles showed against argentina especially the likes of Nsofor. grin grin cool

You must be a fool. . . . . .
If you cannot measure aggression with the number of goals conceded then what's the purpose of being aggressive.

Nigerians should be aggressive so the naturally-biased match officials can have the excuse to send our players OFF thus lose scandalously?
The money spent on your education shoulda been used to buy condoms to prevent retards like you populating the earth?

Lagerback did not send his team to defend with their lives.
Possession was  ARG 52% - 48% NGR.

How many slide tackles did the Eagles deploy in 94 to beat Bulgaria 3-0?
How many tackles did the same Eagles deploy in tons to lose 1-2 to Argentina few days after the Bulgarian game.

Aggression does not win games.
Obviously you don't know a damn thing about soccer, fool. When I mean aggressive, I do not mean rough. I mean you play the same way the Argentines were playing. You run after your opponent and put pressure, not wait around like morons, give them space to do whatever passes they want to do, and watch them like you are 11 months pregnant. Can't you see how the Argentine's were going after us when we had possession?

Also you are a fool if you think you can measure aggression by the number of goals conceded, for you can be aggressive and have a mediocre goalie which will lead you to concede goals, so because you conceded the goals does not mean that you were not aggressive. Also being aggressive does not mean that you have to slide tackle. For God's sake, don't you know the difference between aggressive and rough. Are you daft?
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 7:37pm On Jun 12, 2010
Maybe if the coach tells them they played like punks and homosexuals it will wake them up for the next game.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 7:36pm On Jun 12, 2010

Your aggression cannot stop Messi, Tevez and Higuain.
Between those 3 players, 105 goals were scored. No manager in the world woulda prevented Messi and Tevez from doing their thing against a quality like Yobo and Shittu.

I disagree. . . . . . .We were rudderless under FAGmodu.
Nigeria failed to string 5 passes together under FAGmodu and the general performance was gash throughout.
His subs are rubbish and no one knows Amodu's tactics and approach to big games. He's a donkey and his coaching methods are obsolete.

We have met Argentina THREE TIMES in the world cup and we lost by a slim margin.
So were we less aggressive today than in 94? Or were we worse than the 2002 team that lost 0-1 to Argentina as well?

Leo Messi scored 49 goals in Europe. Scored 4 times against Vermaelen's defence and you are here saying we weren't aggressive.
Should we conclude all the teams that allowed him score 49 goals were LESS aggressive?

Was that a competitive match?
Was there anything at stake when we played France?

Abeg, stop putting the match against France as one big achievement - Westerhof and Bonfrere Jo didn't get their accolades from beating teams in friendly games - they did so doing it in the tournament. In FOUR WORDS - AMODU IS A DISGRACE. grin
Do you use your brain? Why are you determining aggressiveness by the number of goals conceded? If the Super Eagles today played more aggressive and still lost by a larger goal margin, I would have respected them more. But to stare at Argentina kick the ball around for 90 mins without putting pressure on them, they acted like punks and sisis and did not go out there to give the Argentines a fight.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 7:32pm On Jun 12, 2010
You don't need 5 months to teach players to run and put pressure on their opponents when their opponents are in possession of the ball. I don't give a hoot about the scoreline, for I would have respected them if they gave it their all and lost by 3 goals. They watched Argentina make passes for 90 mins, and that is why Argentina had so many chances.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 6:33pm On Jun 12, 2010
As soon as I saw the starting line up, I knew we would not win. No pacy guys. Why are Shittu, Yobo, Etuhu, etc, on that team? THose guys are not fit and can't run. Stanley Okoro and some guys from U-17 combined with Martins, Kalu, Osaze, Martins, and maybe Taiwo, Yakubu, Nsofor, Victor Anichebe would have done a better job. The SEs cannot run.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 6:16pm On Jun 12, 2010

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 6:15pm On Jun 12, 2010
I am not a soccer analyst, but what I saw in today's game is that the Super Eagles stared and watch Argentina pass the ball around. For goodness sake, in soccer 101, you should run and try to collect the ball from your opponent when he has the ball, not watch him.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Princek12(m): 4:52pm On Jun 12, 2010
