shesi:At the end of the day, everyone will sleep on one bed. What matters is a good night's sleep. Find another excuse. |
na_so:too much muscle, no speed |
only in Africa do administrators do the same thing and expect a different result. |
dayokanu:If you think Onigbinde is a coach, you have a problem. Onigbinde was a political appointee assigned to coach I am talking about a competent local coach. |
dayokanu:What are you talking about? How many times have they given indigenous coaches any opportunity. And in the history of the WOrld CUp, the best African teams can show is two quarter finals finishes. And you call that success. |
they need to hire an ex player like Roger Milla and sorround him with assistants. I am sure Roger Milla would not have filled his team with old, spineless players. |
bawomolo:lmao |
Oyinbo don kill Africa finish -- Femi Kuti. When will we learn? |
African teams WILL NEVER experience success under these white coaches. |
African team with a white coach out of the World Cup. When will our leaders learn? |
With all these foreign coaches, thus far, African teams have secured only one victory by way of Ghana's win in the tournament. The foreign coaches don't have what it takes to motivate their players to battle for the country. That's what the World Cup is all about--National Pride. We are all here losing sleep over Super Eagles's misfortunes, while Lars Largerback is probably is sleeping well and dreaming about how Sweden failed to qualify for the World Cup tournament. Home is where the heart is. |
Datboyfly:With respect to organization, your answer may be true ten to fifteen years ago. We now have ex players who have European/international experience, and they are ready to bring that knowledge back home. There is no bridging the gap anymore, for the gap has already been bridged. You have satellite technology, which enables our coaches to watch current advances in football; we have ex players, many of whom played at the highest level in top leagues worldwide; and we have talent at home. I also never said African teams are the only ones who hire foreign coaches. Please re-read my post. I said most, if not all, African countries in this current World Cup hired foreign coaches. You are also comparing apples to oranges. You have named foreign coaches from three different World Cups, which is different from the foreign coach problem in Africa. In one single World Cup, 5/6 African teams have foreign coaches. No other continent has that kind of ratio. |
sage:I don't know whether anyone has criticized Largerback's skin color. I know that people have criticized the NFF administrators who hired him because he is white. They could have hired Siasia who has proved himself. And why do they seem to pay the white people more than the local coaches? You are right that we have hired incompetent black coaches, but what we are saying is that since we are Nigerians, we should hire a competent local coach. If we cannot find a competent local coach, then hire a foreign coach. But we do have competent local coaches who have not been given the opportunity. Every country does this, where employment preference is given to a local who is competent, willing, able, and ready to work. What mentality that destroyed a lot of Black Americans are you talking about that Nigerians should run away from? If people like Martin Luther King did not fight the race problems and the mentality of people toward blacks head on, how will he have reduced the racial disparities in America. Even now, the problem afflicting a lot of black Americans is making up excuses rather than grabbing the bull by the horn. We as Nigerians want to showcase our own pride and display qualities of which we are capable. Give me an answer to this questions? Why is it only African countries who hire foreign coaches to take them to the World Cup most, if not all, of the time? Are there no competent local coaches who can do this job? If there are competent African coaches who can do the job, why are they not hired instead of the white coaches? |
deji I agree with you. The coach should also assume responsibility for the players' unruly behavior on the field, for the coach had the opportunity to evaluate the character and temperament of each player he selects. As a result, he should assume responsibility for everything that happens on that field, including unmotivated players, and every darn thing. He is the coach; he selected the players; and he should responsible for their acts. Period. |
sage:I am glad we are talking about the race issue. And the race problem manifests not only in the U.S. but also in Nigeria; the only difference is that in Nigeria some people have the mentality that white is superior because of colonization by the whites, while in the U.S. some blacks there believe white is superior because they have been robbed of their identity, probably due to slavery. If not for this colonial mentality, why do our administrators hire incompetent white coaches at the expense of qualified local coaches? Simple, they believe white is better. |
davidif:Why does skin color matter when European teams refuse to hire black coaches to lead their teams to the World Cup. Nobody said skin color matters? But to our leaders, it matters, for they think any coach with white skin can perform better than a black coach. I am not really fixated on skin color, but I a want a local coach to lead their teams. The Algerian coach is not black but a native of Algeria. So if, for example, there was a native white Nigerian, then he should be hired as coach if he is qualified. At least he will be familiar with the local customs and will be able to identify more local talent than these foreign coaches who don't know much about our players. |
Sagamite:Personally, I prefer local coaches over foreign coaches because of several reasons. Click on the link below to take you to the thread that highlights my reasons as to why I prefer local coaches over foreign coaches. I don't think the current team has experienced any significant improvement under Lars, but you may argue that he did not have the time to build his own team or to prove himself. Amodu had two years or so to prove himself, and he has not improved the Super Eagles in two years. He used the same players for two years without injecting fresh talent. That is in sane. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=464244.msg6229636#msg6229636 That being said, I did not like Amodu for several reasons: 1) I think he may be tactically sound, but he does not choose the right players and does not create an atmosphere of competition in the team. Under Amodu, certain players, knowing they were guaranteed a spot on the team, did not have the incentive to fight for a spot. See the African Nations Cup, for example, where Amodu announced his final squad without a day in training camp. 2) Amodu regularly picks unfit players, and I don't think he has shown that he has the requisite skills to discover new talent. Almost all his players are prior Siasia boys or products of other coaches. Why has he not given by giving new talent an opportunity to prove themselves? Westerhof and Siasia, for example, are both extremely good or have shown that they can identify new talent. 3) Amodu had time to build the team, but he has consistently used the same players with old legs, and he has not built anything with all the time he had. You can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. 4) Unless you are blind, the differences between Siasia and Amodu are evident. Siasia has shown he can build a team comprising of fit and talented players. He can scout and pick the best from our local leagues while combining them with the best and most fit from players in foreign leagues. Amodu, on the other hand, has yet to show me he is capable of doing this. 5) Amodu lacks the charisma, an important (albeit not crucial) trait in any coach. |
All the corrupt politicians should also leave Abuja. |
adconline:thank God there are still Naija folks who think before they write |
mama-gee:Hater. Get your a$$ back to Naija. Why should Americans not whine when they believe that foolish referee denied them a valid goal without any justification? As a matter of fact, why should anyone who believes in fairness not whine about a foolish call? Right is right, and wrong is wrong. If the goal was valid, why is not wrong when that foolish referee disallowed it. As a matter of fact, a bunch U.S. players were the ones being fouled while the goal was scored. That foolish Malian referee. You complain they treat African teams bad, but you support referees who treat other teams unfairly. The foolish referee has not given any reason as to why he disallowed the goal. Typical Nigerian, you don't use your brain to think of the repercussions of this referees call on other African referees. We already have it bad, so why not call that referee out when one of our own does something wrong? |
What is he still doing in the camp? He should be kicked before he infects the other players with Kaitaisis |
tkb417:Adefemi and Okoronkwo are at least more fit than the players in the current squad. Football is mainly about fitness and maybe speed, the other requisites are secondary |
Why is he still in camp? If I were coach, I would have kicked him out of camp. If that mallam still thinks that the Greek player "got what he asked for," that shows that, even though he might be somewhat remorse, he still thinks he is justified acting in that aboki way. The dangerous part is that coach Lars may still field him again, if we qualify, where there will be no guarantee that he will not give another player "what that player asks for." |
bgees:If you can't understand, SHARAP! Why won't everyone have a go at Kaita? Do you know how difficult it is to qualify for the World Cup? Do you know that the hopes of millions of Nigerians and black people all over the world have been crushed? You are probably a fellow mallam who is defending your own. |
THE AMAKA:whatever! If Osaze approached you today you won't know what to do with yourself, and you will probably make shakara like your colleagues! |
Siasia and Obuh have never taken unfit players to a competition. How do you expect to win when more than half of the team is unfit? |
iphy42:What do you mean by that? Do you think these oyinbo coaches who have no allegiance to our country will help us win? We already have local coaches like Siasia and Obuh who have shown they can coach at a world stage. Why keep hiring these oyinbo coaches? |
I hope you guys saw what the white man coach did to us today |
We don't need any foreign coaches!!!!!!!! |
Nothing will change unless we start hiring our own local coaches |
i am out |
mbulela:God punish you |
