Higuain is gradually gunning for highest goal scorer.

Where is yakubu, I thought he said he will become the competition's highest goal scorer, he beta score four in the match against greece.  grin grin grin
Yakubu or Iya-kubu. I heard he was pregnant with twins so he cannot run fast enough to score.

MAny teams are just intimidated by the word Argentina. Their defense is weak. A good counterattack will expose the weakness in their defense.

AjanleKoko:
Nice lamentation, bros.
But this is football. Apart from the giants of the game, most countries hire a coach that they feel can deliver, not a coach who is black, white, red , or yellow. After all, the Three Lions, a World Cup winner, have currently utilized two foreign coaches, and are likely to fire Capello and get another one after this tourney, depending on how well they do.
Football is too much of a high-stakes game to use sentiments. You want to win, because there is a lot to lose. So you need the best man all the time.
The only thing African countries can learn from all this, is that they have to somehow grow the game. Since most of the countries are not even economically or politically stable, or are just getting close, that's a bit far off right now.
You are right, but a white coach has yet to deliver for African countries.
SportsCan A White/Foreign Coach Help African Countries Realize World Cup Success? by Princek12(op): 9:44am On Jun 17, 2010
No foreign coach has ever won a World Cup.

Except you are living under a rock, you would know that, with the exception of Algeria, all the other African teams at this World Cup are coached by a foreign coach--aka the "white man." These foreign coaches, in my own opinion, do not have a sense of patriotism and allegiance, in terms of nationality or natural connection for one's homeland, to the countries that which they coach.

Many of these coaches care more about money and, maybe, professional success, but that sense of nationality, one which inherently makes a coach go the extra mile to achieve success at the World Cup, is missing; and, as such, these coaches don't feel that sense of passion while sitting on the bench. There is also a possibility that these foreign coaches would not connect with the players as much as a local coach would, particularly when you account for potential language barriers.

The World Cup is more than a sporting event; it is an event to showcase natural pride. Against that background, how can a foreign coach truly showcase his national pride when he is not a national of that country that which he is coaching?

During the World Cup, when camera shots show a white man as the coach of an African country, it sublimely sends a message to the rest of the world that, among other things, white is superior over black, that blacks are incompetent to lead blacks, and that Eurocentrisim is superior to Afrocentricism. Worse still, in the first World Cup ever hosted on African soil, it cannot be more gloom when this image pervades the world media, and I wholeheartedly say a big shame on African football administrators, including those of Nigeria, for disgracing the integrity of black people.

Once football administrators in African countries realize this, maybe they will think twice about hiring a foreign coach to take their respective African teams to the next World Cup.

My fellow Nairalanders, what do you guys think?

That is typical of Nairaland moderators. They see an interesting topic and, instead of placing that topic on the homepage, they clone the topic and put it in the homepage under their names or their buddy's names. Before your story makes frontpage, you have to a buddy of a moderator or the buddy of moderator's buddy. It is not really based on merit, as in Naija mentality.

Argentines also have a habit of attacking senselessly; and while it worked against a timid Super Eagles, a team who can capitalize on counter attacks will have a good chance at defeating the Argentines.

That would just be a HOLY GRAIL.

So we can all watch minute by minute and I will point out the "tremendous", "glorious", "world class"  grin grin grin grin grin grin performance of SE against Argentina.

We see white man we become optimistic. Our problems are solved.  undecided

Our defence is REPEATEDLY penetrated.

Our players refuse to compete and worshipped the opponent (the only team to have done so so far).

Our attack refuse to pass to each other in clear goal scoring chances.

Yet people say they see improvement in "shape", "urgency" and "teamwork". F me Lord! undecided
i concur

Both Lars and Amodu suck; any coach who features unfit players is a dumb arse. That is why I prefer ex-players as coaches, for they have been there and recognize the importance of fitness in any match.

After the World Cup, fire Lars and appoint John Obuh as head coach. John Obuh should bring his U 17 boys for the next World Cup. The day John Obuh told Sani Emmanuel, after Sani failed to pass the ball to Stanley Okoro who was wide open on goal, that "if you do am again, I go comot you," was the day he earned my respect.
