the job of the state is to support the effort of the federal government, and not in the provision of security. He has done well and giving hope to locally manufactured goods.THis will go along way in boosting the confidence in locally manufactured goods.

Nairaland / General / Re: Is Modern Life Making Us Lonely? by princemaicheal: 4:34pm On Apr 10, 2013
cowgurl: Hmm, quite a lengthy read I must confess but what really caught my attention in this article was where the correlation was made between social networking and loneliness.

Does social networking help people stay in touch - or just the opposite?

Personally, I feel social networks makes people stay closer in touch with each other more than any other medium and most importantly with folks in diaspora.
To me, it is also the best , cheapest and fastest way to reach family and friends @ the snap of one's fingers.

Secondly, we were also informed[in the article] that social networking has reduced face-face interaction drastically making people more isolated.. And again, I find that statement hard to accept cos technology has also made it possible for people to interact with each other face-face via webcam, skype and it's likes so how can one be more isolated given these advancements in technology?

So let's hear from y'all your take on this..
Does social networking makes you feel isolated?
Cos to me, this doesn't hold..
As much as the advancement in technology isgreat andhas made things easier, the need for people to meet has reduced which has made people to stay away and be in there comfort zones. This trend has increase the level of mistrust and kill the spirit of adventurism. In Nigeria is getting worse due to insecurity.

Okay and I just did in my last post! grin

I think it's about self discipline and nothing much to do with home training or parent's parody so lets not completely blame the parents here.

Apart from the fact that my Dad will kill me and hide my cause of death , I just never imagined a married man sticking his mouth in mine and hands all over my body ( probably frustrated from a nagging wife) . #shudders# ....when I have a young and funky boyfriend that will do me jejely.

As per your sisters and ones around me? We can only talk to them , not enforce unless a fine is decreed grin
Every adult( over 18yrs) is responsible for their actions and be ready to face the consequences in future.

I beg to disagree ! It is from the home that values and morals are cultivated. Why do you think men(real men) take their time in ensuring that the right girl is what they get married to?That is because, if you dont get it right from there, you may never will.Parents should invest more time with there kids and ensure that, they dont allow them to be raised by Television, peer groups and the Internet.

This is how most southerners on NL think. Shame.
I dont think so.I feel that it is safer for a community to agree to let peace reign in their territories. If south was not hospitable, there wont be this level of development you are hearing in the South. We in the south love our brothers in the North and have lived with you guys for decades.Jos used to be the melting pot of all tribes in the country and an envy of other cities but again, voilence and intolerance had made it difficult to retain its one's revered status.

I recommend that GEJ, adopts the Odi formular in arresting this situation. Those harbouring terrorists are also terrorists(accomplice/enablers ).since the criminal justice system is faulty and alot of interest are being protected, the government have got to think outside the box.

lacasa: what do i like about Goodluck Jonathan?

#.. I like the sit he's occupying.

But we'll snatch it come 2015
Thats the difference, you guys(APC) want to snatch, grab, chase and kill to occupy that position, forgeting the millions that voted for him.The answer is simple where is the option? IJs it Buhari or Tinubu or Bodygorge that will decide the faith of millions of Nigerian?I think i wil rather stick with the clueless one.
@ topic,(1) He has in his cabinet some of the finest technocrat the country can bost of,offering him sound economic, health and social policies that can rival that of advanced countries. The one setback is that, they(policies) may not all be applicable here.(2) He listens to the people.(3)He is the first President with a degree(Yaradua/Jonathan) therefore, understand the importance of education, this is evident in the reduction of strike actions in our Universities.(4) He feels the plight of the youth(increase in the allowance of NYSC).(5) Serious effort at road and rail construction and maintenance.
Where am not happy is his disposition towards corruption and security.
For me,I dont care how he conducts interviews and who he appoints, but want to see him carry out policies that will transform the lives of the people that elected him into office.
By the way,he can remove the subsidy on fuel, only if, he concludes the process with PHCN. Afterall,is the thieves that are behind the subsidy and will mobilise Chris Brown to come and perform at Freedom Park.

I voted for him and am still watching him to know if i will cast my vote for him if he contest the nxt election.A deciding factor for millions of Nigerians would be if he fix the power sector before the nxt election. The opposition can do themselves alot of good by fielding a serious and more service-driven person rather than, talking too much and sharing positions without winning any election. They should throw forward persons with proven integrity/competence and stop the name-calling,Nigerians have moved forward from what we used to be.They should be constructive in their criticism and suggest solutions to issues,so as to let the populace/electorate feel the need to see them as a viable option in future elections.

Family / Re: Ladies, What Will Make You Disrespect Your Husband? by princemaicheal: 10:23pm On Mar 13, 2013
nwando:

Women are by nature very mild and men by nature are very aggressive( few exceptions )
99% of violent criminals and criminals of every kind are males
Any crime you hear about 99% of the time, the perpetrator is a male
In the same manner in the home, men are most likely to be the aggressors and the violent offenders so please dont blame us
Statistics like hips don't lie
If the police is called to your home, they will most likely be prepared to arrest a man and most times they are correct.
God made women loving nurturers ,men are something else

Turn any newspaper to the crime section
For every single crime by a woman there are 50000 by a man
And why do you think they engage in such act? In my opinion, most of these guys engage in crime so as to address the pressures coming from their girlfriends, sisters, brothers mothers, inlaws. They engage in crime to uplift the living conditions of these people because they feel the state has failed them.Do you think a man would willingly allow his sister or girlfriend to be a prostitute or carry a gun?He would rather take the risk.So by nature and in comparison men bear more burden than the women.
