The agreement is aimed at ensuring adequate maintenance of the Air Force’s air fleet.
It was announced by Air Vice Marshal James Gbum, who led a delegation of top senior officers of the Nigerian Air Force on a visit to Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia.
Air Vice Marshal Gbum said the present administration had heightened efforts to improve research and development and that an order by the Chief of Air Staff had brought about the discovery of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company.
With the agreement, the Nigerian Air Force hopes to surmount the challenge of searching for spare parts in several countries around the world which had led to the grounding of many of its aircraft.
The leader of the team said the automobile manufacturer passed the test of assisting in manufacturing brake assemblage haulage for activation of grounded aircraft which would in turn step up operation in the northeast against Boko Haram.
According to him, the collaboration will also encourage indigenous manufacturing.
At the Big Chamber of the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, was an array of senior officers of the Nigerian Air Force led by the Air Vice Marshal who represented the Chief of Air Staff on a courtesy call on Governor Obiano.
At a meeting with the Governor, the Air Force official told Governor Obiano that Innoson would commence the manufacturing of spare parts for the numerous fleet of the Nigerian Air Force.
The Governor expressed pride that Anambra State had offered a solution to one of the problems of the country and assured the delegation that he would be ready to assist in any way to ensure that they got the best in their mission.
He also congratulated the management of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company for its competence and standard and urged the Nigerian Air Force to continue with the effort in containing insurgency, as the nation would always appreciate their contribution.
The Nigerian Air Force delegation presented a souvenir to the Governor and afterwards a group photograph was taken as a memoir of the unprecedented visit.

A consortium of farmers, environmentalists and civil society groups have urged the National Bio-safety Management Agency (NABMA) to halt approval for the commercial introduction of Genetically Modified (GM) maize and cotton in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Monsanto Agricultural Nigeria Limited has applied to the NABMA for a field trial of two varieties of GM maize varieties in multiple locations in Nigeria.
NAN further gathered that the Agric Company is also seeking approvals for the environmental release and placing in the market in Zaria and surrounding towns of GM cotton.
Mr Nnimmo Bassey, an Environmentalist, in a statement issued on Monday said that over 100 groups are opposing attempts to introduce GM cotton and maize into Nigeria’s food and farming systems.
The consortium, according to the statement, is representing over 5 million Nigerians, comprising of farmers, faith-based organisations, civil society groups, students and local community groups.
It stated that in a petition submitted to NABMA, the groups have cited numerous serious health and environmental concerns and the failure of these crops especially GM cotton in Africa, adding that the application is ill timed shortly after the dismal failures of such cotton in Burkina Faso.
``We are totally shocked that it should come so soon after peer reviewed studies have showed that the technology has failed dismally in Burkina Faso.
``It has brought nothing but economic misery to the cotton sector there and is being phased out in that country where compensation is being sought from Monsanto.
``Since our Biosafety Act has only recently entered into force, what biosafety legislation was used to authorise and regulate the field trials in the past in accordance with international law and best biosafety practice?” it said.
According to the statement, the GM maize is genetically modified such that when a particular pesticide is applied, it kills every other plant except the GM maize specie.
``On 20 March 2015 – The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the specialised cancer agency of the World Health Organisation (WHO), assessed the carcinogenicity of glysophate and concluded that glyphosate is `probably carcinogenic to humans’.
``There is also increasing scientific evidence that glyphosate poses serious risks to the environment,” it said.
It also quoted Mariann Orovwuje, Friends of the Earth International’s Food Sovereignty Co-coordinator, a member of the coalition, as opposing the move by Monsanto company because it was linked to cancer.
``Recent studies have linked glyphosate to health effects such as degeneration of the liver and kidney, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
``That NABMA is even considering this application is indeed unfortunate and deeply regrettable, knowing the uncontrolled exposure that our rural farmers and communities living close to farms will be exposed to,'' it warned.
The group noted that the company was silent on the potential risks of glysophate use to human and animal health and the environment, urging the regulators to consider the negative impact of the chemical.
They urged government to reject Monsanto’s applications as there is a serious lack of capacity within Nigeria to adequately control and monitor the human and environmental risks of GM crops and glyphosate. (NAN)

and biafra is not about negotiation..it's hell-bent on disintegration..a nation as big as Nigeria is still classified as a Third World Country. what would happen when a breakout occurs? both parties would definitely suffer massive economic decline... if Biafra becomes a nation, it would be exactly like the last time- unemployment, poverty etc..
