My take on this issue is that Gov. Ohakim did not do anything in his four(4) yrs administration in Imo State. Is not all about the looting but the conscience to Deliver the dividend of democracy to the people while u loot. It amazes me that for four yrs Ohakim could only built a befitting governor's office and a governors lodge in Abuja. What Gov. Rochas has achieved within the few months has surpassed that of Ohakim for four yrs. we are seeing all of them with their achievements.

Sequel to the absurd drama that has trailed the gruesome murder of Olaitan Oyerinde, the Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL), has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), MD Abubakar to ensure a credible public inquiry of the Nigeria Police Force’s investigations.

Few days ago Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, alleged that the Nigeria Police Force was complicit in the gruesome murder of Oyerinde, and he called for the sack of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

Comrade Oyerinde, who was the Principal Private Secretary of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, was murdered in his home in Benin City last year. The police arrested Rev Ugolor, a well-known environmental rights campaigner, claiming that he was the mastermind behind the murder of Oyerinde.

Reacting to the governor’s position yesterday, IGP Abubakar called the governor’s position an unfounded, and promised to set up a committee to look at the Report of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department.The claim of the Police was exposed as a lie a few days later by the State Security Service when its officers paraded five young men who publicly claimed they murdered Olaitan Oyerinde….there are wider questions that the Nigeria Police Force must provide answers to here. The answers to these questions can only be provided by an Independent Public Inquiry, set up for the purpose of looking at the issues that the investigation into the murder of Olaitan Oyerinde has thrown up’’.

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has threatened to withhold the salary of any traditional ruler in whose community kidnappers are apprehended. The Joint Security Task Force (JTF) in Kano, yesterday, provided insight into how its men captured some leaders of the dreaded Boko Haram sect and raided the suspects’ heavily Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)-wired enclave thereafter.

Daily Sun gathered that following the killing of one of the suspects, during the operation and the arrest of two others, the operatives returned to defuse the IEDs that were wired in and around the enclave.

A statement by the spokesman of the JTF in the state, Lt. Ikedichi Iweha, said items recovered in the operation included “two AK47 rifles, two pump action rifles, one berretta rifle, one smoke discharger, 433 rounds of 7.62 Nato ammunition, 80 rounds of 7.62 special ammunition, 2 AK47 magazines, 36 prepared IEDs, 13 laptops, two motorcycles, four printers, one photocopier and one 33 slots zenith disc writer.”

The items, he added, further included “one TG 3900EZ generator, religious books, large quantity of CD plates, two decoders, two satellite dishes, one 21’ television set, one DVD player, two bags of urea fertilizer, one elite dry cell 12 V battery, one blue gate UPS, one stabilizer, 10 hand-held Motorola radios and five battery chargers.” The statement remarked: “This latest encounter with the terrorist group has foiled its planned attack to wreak havoc on the good people of Kano State.

It has equally further depleted the capacity of the terrorist group to operate. “The JTF would like to use this medium to reiterate its resolve to continue to work assiduously towards the protection of lives and property in the state,” said the statement. “The relative peace which Kano enjoys today can be attributed to the collective effort and prayers of the good people of the state.

The JTF continues to count on you for the provision of information as it assures you of utmost confidentiality in dealing with such information,” it added. Residents are therefore enjoined to go about their normal lawful business activities without any fear as security agents are ready and will respond swiftly to any threat to life and property in any part of the state,” it concluded. å

The Joint Task Force in Kano yesterday said it killed a “media man”of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati wal-Jihad or Boko Haram sect in a shootout during an early morning operation in the state.
The military also said it captured two “field commanders” of the group.

Lt Ikedichi Iweha, the spokesperson of the taskforce, disclosed that the sect member killed was involved with the publicity apparatus of the sect.

“The man we have killed today is connected with their media activities,” he said.

Iweha said security agents had commenced investigations with a view to uncovering the actual identity and name of the said member.

The military said two top Boko Haram commanders were also arrested during the operation “The two men are field commanders of the terrorist group. We are making efforts to get their identities; the process could take a long time.”

He did not state if the three were found together by the military and SSS team that carried out the operation. According to him, some items were recovered from the members during the operation, but he did not give details.

However, a source close to the raid disclosed that the man, who was killed by the JTF, was the spokesperson of the Boko Haram sect, known as Abul Qaqa.

Security agents had earlier in the year claimed to have apprehended Qaqa, but the sect disputed it even as the same person continued to speak on its behalf. As a matter of fact, weather Abu Qaqa or Abu Dada, what matters is that all of them are Boko Haram management Staff. So we are expecting another Abu Qaqa to emerge .

But the security source said Qaqa was coming from Gombe State in an ash-colour Honda car, when a joint team of army and SSS, who had been on his trail, intercepted him.

“He was taking the wife of an arrested member to the hospital in Kano from Gombe, when he was accosted and killed by our men during a shootout,” he said. The woman was said to be the one who revealed his identity to security operatives.

She had been taken into custody, it was gathered.

There was, however, no reaction from the Boko Haram sect over the reported killing and arrests of its members by the taskforce at the time of filing this report.

Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry said electricity supply to Lagos areas have increased to 35 percent in the last three months.
The Chamber revealed this in its latest survey which was presented to the media yesterday by its president, Chief Goodie Ibru.

He said in some parts of the country, the average daily supply of power now ranges between 15 to 20 hours per day.

He said that while households and small businesses tend to have significantly keyed into the increased power supply, diesel price is decreasing in line with falling consumption rate coming from increased power supply.

He said: “We observed that while the administrative blocks of most businesses are now connected to the PHCN, major manufacturers are yet to switch their production lines to the public power supply, because of sustainability concerns.

“We are looking to see how much the dry season will impact power supply as increased water levels in the dams due to the raining season played a key role in the current boost of power generation.”

He advised that in order to build on the current tempo, government should sustain the gas-to-power framework.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today re-admitted Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, into its fold.

“By this action, Dr. Fayose is cleared to enjoy all rights and privileges of a member of the PDP without let or hindrance,” National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh said in a statement.

The re-admittance took effect from September 14, 2011, one year ago. Fayose was expelled from the party in 2010. He joined the Labour Party, where he hoped to become the Senator for the Ekiti Central Senatorial District, a race he lost. Before his re-admittance, he was an ardent critic to PDP Administration. And today he is back to PDP.

(CNN) -- The United States ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens, was killed in a rocket attack on the American Consulate in the city of Benghazi on Tuesday, a contractor working at the mission said Wednesday after seeing Stevens' body.

Three American security staff were also killed, said the contractor, who asked not to be named for security reasons.

He said he saw all four bodies on the street Wednesday morning. The bodies are now in the Central Hospital in Benghazi, he said.

Otukpo, one of the busiest towns in Benue state, and the home town of the Senate President, David Mark was the centre of attention yesterday when a woman allegedly chopped off her husband’s manhood, while protesting against his (the man’s) infidelity.

Mr. Ajene, who resides at Ojira in the ancient town of Idoma land, was on Monday morning accused by his wife, Rosaline for not keeping to their marital vows which they took two months ago.

According to eyewitness account, trouble started when the 24 year old wife confronted her husband for having an affair with a young lady (name withheld) somewhere in Sabon Geri of the same town. The husband who was enraged at the manner with which he was confronted gave the wife the most horrible beating of her life as the entire residents of the area came out to separate the fight.

“After the fight had ended, we all thought trouble was over and that the couple would settle at last, only for us to wake up this morning to have discovered that Mr. Ajene was rushed to the hospital first thing this morning with a deep cut on his manhood. We were told by the nanny that the wife who went to bed with the husband last night after the fight had bitten off the husband’s manhood in the night and had since escaped to an unknown location” the witness said.

Speaking to our correspondent in Otukpo; the 10 year old nanny, Josephine had described the cut as unimaginable. According to her, “When I heard the shout, I ran out to the sitting-room, and I saw my aunty with a big bag running out, while uncle was shouting in the room. It was around 1 am, and I couldn’t do anything to help the matter. I swear, the thing was almost falling off. ” she said

Even though, the man’s family members who arrived from Otukpa, in Ogbadibo Local government area had ordered Dailypost reporters out of the house, our correspondent still managed to speak with the few of them, as they clearly said that the case was not going to be reported to the police for some obvious reasons.

It was learnt that Mr. Ajene has since been rushed to a nearby private hospital.
