Satan is utterly wicked but certainly not stupid. In mischief making, he is unparalleled. Moreover, he has more experience than any man dead or alive because he existed before all were born. For every man that has ever fallen or been destroyed beginning from Adam, Satan's signature is ever present. For this reason, except for those who possess the life and wisdom of God, Satan has the cunning ability to outsmart any man. In his smartness, he is not only able to deceive the commoners and slaves, but also the rich, the nobles, the kings, the rulers and the shakers and movers of the society.

HOW SATAN PLAYS HIS GAME

Satan has a crafty way of deceiving people to give them a false sense of security. Through grand deception, he captures the minds of his victims and makes them to start believing lie as truth and rejecting truth as lie. He makes them feel comfortable and unmindful of their perilous journey to perdition.

Here are a few examples:

☞ THERE IS NO HELL.

The purpose is to make his victim live a careless life and end up in hell. They get to know the truth only when it is too late to repent.

TRUTH:

Hell is real. It is for eternity. Hell is a place of eternal torment, pain, weeping and gnashing of teeth. All who have not lived for Christ will perish in hell. (Matthew 13:42).

☞ GOD IS TOO GOOD TO CONDEMN PEOPLE TO HELL.

The purpose is to downplay the reality of God’s judgment and make it look less fearful.

TRUTH

God is both a merciful Saviour and a righteous Judge. In judgment, He is FIERCE and MERCILESS. That is why the Bible says “it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31).

☞ GRACE IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE.

The purpose is to make his victim continue to postpone his decision to repent from sin and be saved.

TRUTH

It is a dangerous trap because death does not always give advance notice. There is no grace for repentance after death. What follows is judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

☞ EARTHLY SUCCESS SIGNIFIES GOD’S APPROVAL.

The purpose is to deceive a ‘prospering’ sinner that his way is right with God.

TRUTH

Earthly success is not a sign of God’s approval (Jeremiah 12; Job 21; Psalm 73). Indeed, the godly face more challenges in this world than the ungodly because they have to contend more with Satan (John 16:33; 2 Timothy 3:12).

☞ YOU WILL ALWAYS GET AWAY WITH IT.

The purpose is to give his victim the impression that since he has not been punished for past sins, he can continue in it without any fear of retribution.

TRUTH

God may appear slow in punishing sin, but that is not to say He condones or overlooks it. He is only being patient with the sinner and giving him more time to repent (2 Peter 3:9).

☞ GOD’S BENEVOLENCE IS UNENDING

The purpose is to make people believe that the way God’s general grace operates on earth will not be different in eternity.

Here on earth, bibles says in Matthew 5:45, “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

TRUTH

The bible makes it clear in Isaiah 48:22, “there is no peace for the wicked.”

The worst condition on earth is an enviable bliss compared to the best cell in hell. In hell, there is no breeze, no light, no sleep, no rest, no moment of peace and no joy of any kind. The condemned souls in hell are always hungry, always thirsty, always in torment, always wailing and forever regretting their past life and the missed opportunity to have been saved.

☞ MONEY SOLVES ALL PROBLEMS

The purpose is to make people commit idolatry without knowing it. They devote their time and energy for money making instead of serving God.

TRUTH

Only God can solve all problems. He is the Great Provider. Money is just a means of exchange. Money cannot buy health; money cannot buy sleep; money cannot buy joy; money cannot buy life.

CONCLUSION

The greatest security is to be in Christ (John 10:28-29).

The greatest possession is to have Christ (Philippians 3:7-9)

The greatest achievement is to know Christ (Philippians 3:10-11)

The greatest gain is to die in Christ (Philippians 1:21)
