I like the fact that this celebration is giving some people HBP. wether they like it or yes, it would always be celebrated to the ends of the earth.
Coming up with stories such as, it has pagan origin but yet they forgot that the days of the week has idol meaning.
Hypocrisy is their surname.

Dear Christians all over the world, let no one discourage you from celebrating this day because, from our hearts, we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and not some pagan god. This is the most important thing.

Merry Christmas

Politics / Re: Charly Boy: "Any Politician Or Pastor That Owns A Private Jet Is A Bastard" by prinzfavian(m): 1:04am On Dec 14, 2017
Jesus said: “It will be a difficult thing for a rich man to get into the kingdom of the heavens. . . . It is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:23, 24) Did Jesus mean that no wealthy person will inherit the Kingdom? No, for he went on to say: “With God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:25, 26) Indeed, with God’s help some wealthy people back then did become anointed Christians. (1 Timothy 6:17) Nevertheless, Jesus said those surprising words for good reason. He was giving a warning.
If a person becomes attached to his possessions as that wealthy young man did, they could become a barrier to his serving God wholeheartedly. That could be true both of one who is already wealthy and of one who is “determined to be rich.” (1 Timothy 6:9, 10) Trusting too much in material things can lead a person to be less ‘conscious of his spiritual need.’ (Matthew 5:3) As a result, he might not feel the same need for God’s support. (Deuteronomy 6:10-12) He might come to expect special treatment in the congregation. (James 2:1-4) And he could spend most of his time enjoying his wealth rather than serving God.

Matthew 6:24 - “No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other,+ or he will stick to the one and despise the other. You cannot slave for God and for Riches.

Matthew 19:23,24 - Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Truly I say to you that it will be difficult for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of the heavens.+ 24 Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”+

1 Timothy 6:9,10 - But those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare+ and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge men into destruction and ruin.+ 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.+

So it means you must believe in the bible to be saved. Is that the teaching of Jesus?
When he was alive there is nothing like the bible instead it is Torah, the Jewish scripture. Jesus never saw the bible as we know it today cos it was compiled years after his death. So how come the emphasis on bible believing churches by modern Christians since Jesus Christ we follow didnt subscribe to a "bible" when he was alive. Why that division as if the bible on it's own saves?
... Well Jesus did subscribe a lot to the scriptures while he was alive, most of his statements, teachings or answers to question, notably his answers when he was being tempted by Satan started with "it is written".... So... He did.
The Bible is God's means of talking to us today, so how do we believe in God without believing his words?

I don't really understand this question, but really how would you have even know Jesus without the Bible... So yes we must belive in the Bible because it is the very word of God... And guess who is the word of God?

My opinion about a supreme omnipotent being is irrelevant. I am as clueless as everybody else. The only difference is that I admit it.

Hmmm, of course it is relevant...
Don't you think that one of the main factor of being clueless about God is the false, wrong, absurd and shameless way most religions of this world has portrayed him?
One is saying he is omnipotent.... How? He can't do all things, He can't lie neither can he make a mistake... So how then is he omnipotent?
They paint him as cruel by saying he will burn people in fire and yet he was greatly displeased with kings in the past that did the same thing by making their sons and daughters pass through fire, isn't that hypocritical?

They say he has predestined everything that happens in everyone's life.... And then we have, the rich, powerful, poor, sick, severely wretched people, mad men and women roaming the market places... And still the Bible say such a God isn't partial... How? In fact, it goes ahead to call him 'Love'... Really?

They say he is of 3 distinct personalities yet just 1 person.... Haa!, how can a father be his own son and also his own holy spirit?

So if you're clueless about such a God, I definitely understand.... And dismissing that such God exist is surely a more reasonable stand than trying to comprehend all those errors.

But really, God does exist and he is doing and will do everything he wills, to clear his name of all the misrepresentations by the religions of this world which isn't making innocent people grasp the true nature of him.

Thanks.

Apostles are chosen by God.... Even Jesus was an apostle (Heb 3:1)... In a more extensive case, Apostles are the twelve disciples chosen by God through Jesus Christ, including Mathias who replaced Judas Iscariot (acts 1:17-26)... They are constant... That is 12 in number, directly chosen and trained by Jesus Christ... Such office doesn't extend to this day... They were to be the foundation of the body of Christ after he has gone. Hence they've fulfilled their mission. Mathew 10:2-4 gives their complete details.

On the other hand,
Disciples are followers of Jesus Christ....
All apostles are disciples since they are followers of Christ too, but only the first 12 disciples are apostles because they were specially trained by Jesus Christ... Even Paul is an apostle because he was directly chosen by Jesus Christ...
All Christians of this age are disciples... The last apostle died many years ago in person of John the beloved.... The writer of the book of revelation.

Your initial response was not harsh at all.

You have agreed that you are not in control because you cannot control all eventualities.

It is easy to take credit after trying very hard and everything eventually fell into place.
Maybe you even pulled some strings yourself that contributed to everything falling into place.
But not everybody has the strength, opportunity, motivation e.t.c that you had. They did not choose not to have those advantages.
If those disadvantages are factors that determine their will power then they are not also in control of their will power.
But even will power is not enough. There are people who tried harder and pulled more strings than you but didn't succeed because of the situation beyond their control.

If you roll a dice 1 million times under the same condition (e.g the size and shape of the dice, the direction and speed of the dice, the motion of the hand rolling the dice etc.) you will also get the same result. The dice may think it's size and shape is a factor that influenced the outcome but it did not choose the cause of its size and shape, therefore, it did not choose the outcome.

Free Will is literally not free will.

Freewill is just literarily what it is - Freewill. You're getting it somehow wrong with your analogy of the dice...
Since the dice can 'think', then... That shows the presence of freewill... Now exercising it is this...

True, same outcome will be for the dice if it's being rolled under same condition a million times... But that's not freewill... You're not sure if you're rolling the dice the way it wants to roll cos you're the one rolling it, you're the one in control not the dice.. How's that freewill? ... Freewill is when the dice rolls itself and whatever the outcome is is as a result of its own act.... Not yours.

Now also true, it didn't choose it's size and shape and some other factor.... Isn't that true of everything? There is a default setting for everything, because everything has to start with something... but as time goes on our actions changes that...
If the dice keeps rolling, it's size changes due to wear and tear and it scratches against the surface... Hence it's shape will be affected, it's speed and other things that were there from the onset... But it's like that now because it has chosen to roll, as much time as it chooses and how it chooses to...
So freewill is literally freewill.

No such thing as destiny, no one predetermines what will happen to us in life... Our every seconds actions does.

There is a causative factor for everything in life, your previous action results In another one and goes 9n like that in a long chain of events...

For instance,... sexual intercourse is meant for married couple if we are to avoid the stress that comes from the after effect of premarital Sex..,. Now let's say we have two stubborn people that still went ahead to have Sex without being married, the gurl got pregnant... Since they were young, she had to abort to save herself from shame and disgrace, unfortunately she died while aborting... Now tell me, if that situation had been destined by God from the onset... For what purpose has it served if it ended this way... Also, doesn't he frown against fornication? So why destine the girl to have a child thru a means he sorely hates... Since he had the power to predestine, why couldn't he have predestined them to get married before having the child?.... Going on and on... We will come to see that everything is wrong with the concept of destiny...

To answer your question, even though your time and cause of your death are certain, they are not known.

The truth is that you don't want to die now. Even if someone claims that it is now, you don't want to believe it. You will try your best to stay alive. Hence, you will always look left and right before you cross.

Free Will is an illusion. You think you are making the choices you want to make but what you want is the result of the situation you find yourself in.

- You choose to eat because you are hungry or because it's tasty or for whatever reason you have no control over.

- You are commenting on Nairaland because you are bored or because it's fun or for whatever reason you have no control over.

lol, are you for real?
Free will is an illusion, really? I choose to eat cos I'm hungry, hence I have no control over that.... What about when I fast, am i not hungry? .... Why could I've had control over my hunger?.. .. Oh, it's been destined that I was gonna fast... Right? Tar!

I'm commenting on Nairaland cos am bored... Really? No where else to go... Facebook, Twitter, insta.... and the likes... What about if I don't have any megabytes to browse on my phone... But I'm bored... I guess I just have to steal to get mb... Since it's been destined that I must come on Nairaland when I'm bored. Haba, think now...

So God that predestines stuffs, also destined atheist not to believe that he exist... Wawu, for real? For what purpose would he have done that? Think dear.... Even the likes of Evans and boko haram is God's doing... Is just a script he has written long ago that is playing out right? Abegi...

He has given us the gift of freewill... And what we have today individually is as a result of our actions... There is no such thing has destiny, we ain't robots... Even animals aren't controlled by destiny, not to talk of humans...

When we tend to overcome this notion of destiny, then we are a step closer to knowing the truth about life.
Religion / Re: Do You Believe What Will Be Will Be, Do You Believe In Destiny? by prinzfavian(m): 6:58pm On Aug 27, 2017
First let's consider the meaning of destiny:

1. That to which any person or thing is destined; a predetermined state; a condition foreordained by the Divine or by human will; fate; lot; doom.

2. The fixed order of things; invincible necessity; fate; an irresistible power or agency conceived of as determining the future, whether in general or of an individual.

From the above definitions, destiny is said to be fixed..perfectly mapped out from the very beginning of such person's life.... Then, whatever happens to that person must be according to his or her already written script...

Now here are some few questions if destiny were to be true....

Why do we look left and right when crossing the road or run out of the road if we saw an oncoming vehicle trying to hit us... If our time to die has been predestined why take any precaution to save oneself, if it's not your time to die then you won't, you don't need to do anything, remember your whole life and action has been mapped out which means you're not in control of your life.

Also, if there was anything like destiny, means whatever is happening now is what has been mapped out or planned from the onset.... It's been destined that you'll open this thread on Sunday, and I'll be commenting right now as I am on this thread... The list goes on,..... The concept of destiny opposes the concept of free will...
Everyone is wherever they are today because of the decisions they made and actions they took moments before now not according to some perfectly planned out script... That's what I call freewill not destiny...
Thanks.

Shunning is emotional blackmail first of all. Why should people be disfellowsipped for doing things not even mentioned in the Bible eg Smoking, blood transfusion, voting, joining military, entering a church, celebrating birthdays, Christmas, easter, Thanksgiving joining a church, people who attempted sucide etc?

Shunning is bad and it is a form of punishment. no normal human being will say it is normal
Shunning people because they don't agree with bible interpretation of 7men in newyork, Nathan knorr and
Rutherford is a crime
The sin you talk of is definitely the sin against disobeying rules made up by these men from 1926 till date.

watchtower is afraid of people knowing the truth about its origins and non biblical doctrines so they created a boundary so that the in jws don't get to hear its real origins, failed prophecies, its use of logical fallacies in creating doctrines and its use of threat of dying with non jws in Armageddon

Truth is never afraid of any negative influence. Truth fears no form of scrutiny

shunning is emotional blackmail it is same as killing and individual. You shouldn't take away someones number one social support it is a crime against humanity. People only come back because they miss their families. Shunning is practiced only by cults

If you really have the truth you will never be afraid of danger. Like I said is a way to keep jws from people who have discovered watchtower is a fraud. A publishing company trying to sell its books

Shunning is never a loving arrangement it is a hateful one. You shouldn't justify shunning people. It is psychological blackmail

Bible never mentioned shunning. The first time it is mentioned is in watchtower publications. Nathan knorr started the shunning rule

What is the definition of the wicked man in the Bible. The Bible never mentioned wicked people as people who don't accept the non biblical teaching of 7 men in newyork. Read 1cor5 from beginning to the end and know what its talking of.

You people just believe in fallacies. How is not eating with a somebody the same as not talking to the person?
The verse never said a wicked man is someone who does not believe watchtower non biblical teaching. I think 1cor5 was specific. And from that chapter it never said shun those people.

Wow so the shunning starts when the elders or watchtower police have finished investigation? Where is it mentioned in the Bible that you must be part of watchtower organization to be God's people? I think your leaders are delusional

Cult behavior spotted. So you shun people because they disobeyed non biblical rules made up by 7 imperfect uninspired men who say they are not led by the holy spirit? So you shun people for disobeying rules which can be changed in the future?

So shunning is now acceptable before God because 7 uninspired men in newyork say so. Interesting
Stop justifying non biblical teaching made by men who assumed that the Bible said you shun people who disobeyed Nathan knorr and Rutherfords law.
Okay.

Shunning has broken families did you know that?

No matter how fanantical we maybe, we should also give space to reason.

If as a catholic i decide to leave the catholic church and beome a Jw, I'd become celebrated for leaving "babylon the great"....but i suddenly get fed up with the "cultish" activites in Jws and I decide to leave, and then become a "wicked person" ?? And become shunned??

Did you know that the Watchtower society wrote a full article denoucing the shunning process the Catholic church practised years ago

"Prove to yourself that what your learning is truth"

Alright thanks, I will take up your advice...
What you don't know not just about witnesses but about the scriptures too is hopelessly more than you do know about both... So, It's futile going further trying to explain anything to you and your cohorts about witnesses and their practices or core scriptural guidelines and teachings.... So I'll just say.... Namaste.

So why should people leave their religion for your own when they can't leave your religion for other religions

You want parents from other religions to talk to their child who became a Jehovah's witness but your religion will not allow parents to speak to their children if they leave watchtower.
Your religion is a cult GBAM
The last time I checked, no one is forced to leave their religion and join ours, we preach to you, you discover yourself that it's the truth.... On your own you decide to leave your religion.... How's that our fault?... And also, people are free to leave also from us to another, cos everyone has a free will and will render an account to God 'individually' not as a group... So I don't know how you came up with your claims...

There are Christians and true Christians.... The difference is the latter follows EVERYTHING the Bible says and stick with it... While the other only follows not all but the ones that are convenient for them... So if parents from other religion chooses not to relate with their kids because of rejecting their own religion.... It's fine as long as their actions can be well backed up scripturally... With time, God himself will make the truth known to whom ever he deems fit....

We are no cult.... We are just honest followers and lovers of the God of the Bible, hence we do everything his words says we should...
Thanks.

When people make a decision to leave, they should not be punished for it. It's a cult behavior to punish those who disagree.
Geoffrey Jackson agreed with that at the commission. Whatch his testimony if you are allowed to.

You're right, if people want to leave they should and not be punished... It's their choice... But shunning is for unrepentant sinners that are disfellowshipped... And I don't see shunning a person that willingly commits a sin without wanting to change as punishment..... Okay tell me, how will the other people in the congregation guard themselves from the negative influence of such a person.... And also, don't you see shunning such a person as a way of letting the person know that he or she is doing something wrong so such person can retrace their steps... If everything goes on as normal how is the congregation kept safe... I can go on and in just to show that it's a loving arrangement.... But one considerable reason why it's the best thing to do, is cos the Bible says we should do so.... Remove the wicked man from among yourselves it says at 1 cor 5:13)... Even 1 cor 5:11 earlier says..... Not eating with such a man... How do you do that without shunning? If a person willingly disassociates himself from the organization, they aren't shunned until they've been confirmed as no longer part of the organization by the elders... it's announced in the congregation so others can be careful around such ones... And also so that if such ones does something bad, outsiders don't see such ones as one of Jw and thus ridicule our image.... Cos most just disassociates without really denouncing the name....

Well, all being said.. . We are all entitled to our opinion, we should just make sure our opinion is acceptable before God.
