Niger delta!!!
Same niger delta that fg pays it's indigenes monthly stipends but those in Rivers, and bayelsa state still resort to kidnappings.

Same niger delta that, edo, delta, rivers and awka ibom youth prefers cultism to education.
Same niger delta that Imo state girls objectified themselves as sex toll.

Same niger delta that ogun state made ritual and skull mining their favourite occupation.

The 2 most dread cult group are birthed in niger delta.
Nbm- edo
Vicking- rivers.

Abeg talk another thing.
This your point is flawed. The SW introduced cultism, so don't make it look like the Niger Delta started it. Besides, Eiye is very deadly so stop trying to spit on the Niger Delta.

Also, the FG doesn't pay people of the Niger Delta monthly so keep that lie to yourself.

Why can’t your almighty US army defeat ragtag Taliban forces in Afghanistan? Why are they negotiating peace with them? When the US ran into trouble in Somalia, it was the Nigeria Army that came to their rescue.

Fighting Boko Haram is not like fighting conventional wars. It is an asymmetrical warfare that is mixed with politics and religious indoctrination. Even if you kill all Boko Haram fighters today, those who believe in the ideology will raise another set of fighters tomorrow and continue the fight. So you see, defeating Boko Haram is beyond the military. We must also defeat the politics and the ideology behind the group.
Please can I get a link to this?

my friend u aren't making sense because u don't know that a 2,000 man 21st century American armed battalion with the full backup of US armed forces can wipe out all the entire army divisions of Nigeria e.g 100,000 naija troops from 200km away in an open terrain showdown!!!!
What you're saying is very impossible. I hate the NA but when I see the truth I say it.
You can't say a battalion of just 2,000 men will wipe out the entire Nigerian military (the Air Force and Navy included). Nigeria will also provide logistics for their military, and also the terrain where the fight happens is also a factor.

The only condition this can happen is when the logistic support from the US includes Air support, and missile/dron strikes else if it's only the men of the battalion and their on-ground logistics, then it can't happen.

Nigerian ground forces are one of the best in the world...

Given the same logistics and equipment, Nigerian Army would outshine American army.

Forget all the films you watch about US army... the US army is not that rugged, and depends largely on CIA for intelligence which makes their operations far more successful than others.

Nigerian army is great and rugged, but sabotage has killed the morale, I pray it goes back to its glory days
The Israeli Army is not also as powerful as they look, they heavily depend on intelligence from Mossad, Amman, and the Unit 8200. Intelligence is the heart of any military, and whoever has it wins the war, so this shouldn't be an excuse for the Nigerians.
PoliticsRe: One US Army Battalion Vs All Nigerian Army Divisions Who Wins In A Fight by privaldo: 5:55pm On Jan 17, 2021
Rossintii:
You will be surprised that in a full combat scenario between a US battalion and a Nigerian battalion, the Nigerians would actually win. If you think those cornflakes eating, pampered US troops will defeat those rugged Naija forces in man to man combat, think again. At the very most it will be a very close contest, no matter who wins.

There is a reason the US does not favour having their men on the ground in close combat, but prefer to do air strikes instead. Their fighting forces are simply not that good, and nowhere near as brave as many other troops from supposedly weaker armies.

I remember during the Somalian war in 1993 when Nigeria sent about 5,000 troops to join US forces there in Operation Restore Hope. The American troops used to beg the Nigerians to engage the Somali rebels, while all the Yanks did was mount road blocks. Nigerian troops went in and fought the Somalians in close combat and defeated them, losing very few men in the process.

We meet again.

While the Op's original question makes no sense, because it's a comparison of a battalion of one army against a whole army, your answer also makes no sense. You compared a battalion of the US military to a Nigerian military in an all out war.

First put in mind that the Americans are better armed due to the amount spent on defence in the US.
Also, consider the fact that they train with the most advance equipments including simulation which will give them an edge over the Nigerian troops.
Again their logistics support will be more superior to that of the Nigerians, and again intelligence which plays a key role in warfare, will be a factor as the Americans have one of the best intelligence organisation in the world.

I disagree with everything you've said here, as it is filled with gross negative generalisation, pessimism, and prejudice.

You cannot as a leader say "I am going to build substandard infrastructure because I 'know' the next administration will not maintain it if I build it properly".

It is not your job to preempt negative outcomes without evidence.
No, this isn't generalisation but the Nigerian reality. You may deny it but this isn't the Western world that makes laws that compel leaders to complete such projects.
It played out in Rivers State, when Wike came in he dumped the monorail and several other projects by Amaechi till now. Hope Uzodinma is also doing it in Imo, so there is no need to deny the reality.

We need to accept the reality of how play out on the African continent.

Keep on shifting the blame until they conquer the Northern region completely.
PoliticsRe: Do We Actually Have A Plan To Eliminate Open Gutters In Nigeria? by privaldo: 1:39pm On Jan 17, 2021
Rossintii:
Public opinion drives development in Nigeria more than you think. A lot of the state governors are building good infrastructure now because their people simply will not tolerate a non-performing governor.

I think the leaders get away with building roads without covered drains and sidewalks because the PEOPLE do not demand it or see it as essential.

Most Nigerians don't even realise there's something wrong with such a way of building roads. For them, simply tarring the roads and building an open gutter on each side is perfect. They don't know any better.
I disagree with the bolded, if there's one country in the world that tolerates bad leadership a lot it is Nigeria. Most of the leaders don't give a damn about what goes on in the country because they know the people can't do them anything.

On the issue of building roads with open gutters, I think at Nigeria's level it is the best because it can be easily maintained by the people when it gets bad even though it's disgusting.
We all know the situation in this country, a governor may build a closed gutter system and when he leaves office the new governor probably of another political party will not maintain it because it wasn't his project. So, the work will be left for the citizens to do by themselves.

A war in horn of Africa is imminent. But India or any other country taking sides here is far fetched for at least 30-40 years till this region gains some economic value.
Yes, there will surely be a war maybe this year or next but it's imminent like you pointed out.

I really don't know about India taking sides but I already see Turkey, UAE, Egypt, and France protecting power already.
Turkey is already courting Somali and helping them train their military, and Egypt on the other hand backed by France and the UAE wants to establish a military base in Somaliland.
The move by Egypt to establish a military base has already been criticised by Ethopia who is still at logger head over the dam issue, and the same Egypt is fueling the ongoing military standoff between Sudan, and Ehiopia while criticizing Sudan on the other hand for making the peace talks fail.

If India will want to be a strategic player in Africa in the nearest future, I believe this issue should be of importance to them because the Horn of Africa is home to some of the most important countries in Africa like Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
I say so because it is a strategic point into Africa considering the economic importance of the ports in Djibouti, and Somaliland.

I shudder in disgust when I see new roads being built in residential areas with open sewers.

It is not as common as before however. These days, most new urban road developments in Nigeria come with pedestrian sidewalks and covered drains, as is the convention across the world.

What I'd like to know is regarding already existing urban roads which still have these primitive open gutters with no sidewalks.

Do our leaders actually have plans to change that?

I mean, cities like Lagos, Benin, Enugu, Onitsha, Port Harcourt, Ibadan etc... are they really saying that all those open gutters are not going to be covered, ever?

And that pedestrians will continue walking along the main roads meant for vehicular traffic rather than on designated sidewalks, as is the norm all over the world?

I just need clarification from these leaders.

I followed the case from the start and I am still following it. Jamal's death was unfortunate and the Turks wanted to deal with the Saudis, if not for the intervention of the United States led by Trump.

There's still an ongoing investigation and I believe justice will prevail at last. But my point is every country does, whether it's as gore as Jamal's death or not.

My point is when Western governments do it, nobody baits an eyelid but they're quick to scream out if other governments do it.

The wealth you see today was built off the backs of our black ancestors. Countries like the UK, America, etc became wealthy off stealing human capital from Africa, and Africa's resources till this day. Lastly whites have been killing each other for hundreds of years. [World]World wars, Canada vs USA, UK vs France, etc. Nobody says much. Kashogi disagrees with you
As much as we hate the death of Jamal Khashoggi, it is what Russia and several big countries have been doing to those they deem traitors.

A investigative report recently showed that Khashoggi wasn't the only person MBS ordered a hit on. He also ordered a hit on a government critic in Norway, but it couldn't happen because the Norwegians felt something fishy was on and refused to grant the diplomats/killer squad the immunity it needed.

Kudos to Norwegian governments, counter-espionage team they really know their onions. They stopped and exposed Israelis Mossad during Lillehammer affair, and have stopped several other covert espionage attacks on Norwegian soil.
