Onitsha, Awka Combined Will Knock Off Lagos While Nnewi And Aba Will Knock Off Agbara, Sango Otta And Everyother Proximity Of Ogun To Lagos. Umuahia, Orlu , Abakiliki Will Comfortably Displace Ibadan And The South West Is Finished. Other Places In South West Are Glorified Towns Which Places Like Ihiala, Okigwe, Obigbo, Nsukka, Ekwulobia, Nanka, Afikpo Etc Can Take Them Individually To The Cleaners. The South East Still Have Owerri, Enugu As Their Joker

SE is far more developed than SW. Lagos is not part of SW. Chief layi from lagos island said so. Lets compare the state capitals.
Enugu is more developed than ibadan. Owerri is more developed than ibadan. Awka is more developed than abeokuta. Umuahia is more developed than abeokuta. Abakiliki is more developed than abeokuta. Not to talk of the great cities of aba and onitsha.
All those ur state capitals like osogbo and akure are not even as developed as nore igbo towns like nsukka and ihialla
Don’t chat nonsense. Being an Igbo man doesn’t mean lying all the time.

Ogedegbe is an edoid word.

Urhobo Also bears ogedegbe, and it means the same thing, Eastern yorubas were greatly influenced by Edo reason itsekiri and ilajes bear it.

I don’t know how much influence Edo people has on Eastern Yorubaland (at least not in language). You sure of what you’re saying?

Peculiar to Kabba and Ijumu people
Tell me more about Edo State Yorubas. I know there’s a spillover of Akoko Yorubas and (I think) the Ilajes of Ondo State in Edo but that’s the scope of my knowledge on that. Care to enlighten me about them?

I’m sure someone somewhere in Igboland’s done that but I’ve never seen it. Makes sense when you think about it though. Wearing bifurcated pants underneath a wrapper defeats the whole purpose in the first place.

Stop trolling me in the food section by the way. You’re actually not funny.

bigfrancis21:
Honestly speaking, if you live in countries like Sweden, UK, etc. where I can tell you that power has shifted hands into the hands of women, maybe your overall stance on this issue will change. You do not know what it is to live in a feminist-dominated society and I tell you you would wish for the opposite. In case you do not know, modern-day feminism is all about female superiority. First and second wave feminism, which I do support, were about women's rights to vote and expanded economic opportunities for women. Nowadays, what we have is a gender war between both sexes. You have to be moderate in the way you champion your feminist cause, I am sure you are male.

As for men being the head of the household, this was put in place simply because a man is not only financially capable of protecting the home, but also physically capable. A head of the household, in addition to providing financially, should be able to physically fight off intruders into the home, ward off danger from the home or defend the home from stray animals etc., which men can do but most women cannot or will not do. I do not mean to generalize, but most women will scamper for safety when faced with situations like these, expecting the man to go out and take charge/defend.
I’m not saying I disagree with the main bulk of your write up but most people in the UK thing America’s a backwards country and there’s something to that. Not even re. gender but for one thing the fact that any psycho can go on a shooting spree because guns are that readily available. Let’s not pretend America’s some utopia. The US and the UK both have their highs and lows.

Have a look at all that, consider the slightly manic temperament the average Igbo man has (egotism, enterprise, domineering behaviour, business acumen), theories of how Igbo's the original world language and still come and tell me I'm raving mad. You might think you sound smart to all the village illiterates on here but there's no way in hell you know more than me re. mental illness. Respectfully know your place.

Try some antidepressant medicine. They work wonders. Drugs like Paxil (Paroxetine or Seroxat), Zoloft and Prozac are good examples. Additionally, you could visit a psychiatrist for an examination.

Good luck!
They do. Then there's a few surgeries for extreme OCD (deep brain stimulation and a few more) but they're held in reserve for severe and treatment-resistant cases. There's no reason for anyone in 2018 to be suffering from mental illness in silence.

They’re not ramblings, just an alternative line of thought. You can agree or disagree but at least have respect for other people’s opinions.

The bolded is interesting. Explain further.
It’s a long story but psychosis is the price humans have to pay for language and since black people are the original people and Igbo’s the original world language there’s not one place in the world that experiences the positives and negatives of human language as much as we do. Swindling and fraud (419)’s in a similar league and that’s why there’s more Igbo swindlers than anyone else. It’s a long story but that’s the meat and bones.

The progenitors of human language experience all the positives and negatives that come with language. It’s no mad conspiracy theory even, most people just don’t know about it

Self-diagnosis is a waste. Bipolar disorder in its florid form is the most severe type of mental illness in terms of acute symptoms. I’m not saying there aren’t milder cases but I don’t think you know how big a deal being manic-depressive is.

OCD and OCPD nearly cancel each other out. Some of these mental illnesses you mention can’t be found in the same person at the same time.

And where’s this autism thing coming from?

Then your diagnosis should’ve been revised to bipolar disorder full stop. You can’t have pure depression and manic depression at the same time. It’s either one or the other.

The word "koro" means bitter in Yoruba. It has nothing to do with the word man. Yes, the root word "kọ" is used for words relating to a man. For example ọkọrin/ọkọren in Yoruba means man and akọ means male and ọko means husband.

Some Yoruba like Ilajes bear Omawumi, Omasola. Oma means child in Eastern Yoruba dialects.
Funny how oma means the exact same in Igala.

Anyone willing to elaborate for me? Are Akoko Ondo people actually Yoruba or just Yoruba-speaking?
Culture › Re: Do Igalas See Themselves As Yorubas? (Official Igala Thread) by Probz(m): 7:09pm On Nov 25, 2017
20CRATES:
Akoko Ondo are Yoruba, although there were a few villages there that were speakers of edoid dialects but who have since converted, or are currently in the process of doing so.

Akoko Edo is where things get reaally interesting.
It is made up of:
* Etunos (who live in Igarra the LGA HQ). The Etunos are basically Egbiras who just go by a different name to be fancy because they are not in "North" like Egbira Okene people lol.
* Okpameris, The biggest group
* Yorubas
* Unemes (Believed to be migratory blacksmiths) - some of them claim origin to as far away as awka.
* Ososo
* Sasaru - Enwan
Etc.

In short, a tower of Babel , linguistically speaking. In Akoko Edo, you can encounter 5 languages within a 1km radius, or even different sections of the same village speaking different languages.
During the times of the Western Nigeria internecine wars, they were one of the badly affected groups. They suffered some heavy Ibadan raiding, this was a period of high mobility, many Yorubas settled there and began to influence them, lifestyles and linguistically. A lot of them picked up the names of Yoruba war generals, notable people etc.

Then the Nupe Jihadists came along raiding and pillaging, and also left their legacy, especially in the aspects of traditional titles and rulership (although now, the nupe influence has almost vanished), you can still see hints of it in some last names lake Dawudu, Bakare, etc.

Starting from early colonial times, there was an additional influx of early Yoruba christian missionaries, Clerks, office/Government workers, etc into the area, they became influenced even more. The ones that retained their differences earlier all converted to Yoruba names.
They all began to speak Yoruba language - which was honestly more of a plus to them naturally speaking, because of the regions extremely high linguistic diversity, Yoruba made it easier for them to relate within themselves and with their Yoruba neighbors.

Then, many migrated to major Yoruba urban centres and returned home with even more dynamics, influencing what was on ground in the villages even more.

That was how they became a more or less Yoruba people, although with ancestral very very old edoid roots. Roots that are honestly not even connected with Benin. But the original edoid stock of people.
Hold up. Don’t you have to claim descent from Ile-Ife and Oduduwa to be considered truly Yoruba?

I know Yoruba people are united by central Yoruba but are there peculiarities in names according to the region in Yorubaland? Anything specific to the Ekiti/Ijumu/Akoko flank of Eastern Yorubaland?

As a side note I know Itsekiri females answer Modupe as do mainstream Yorubas.
