Vegetable yam with pumpkin. A lot of people think Igbo yam porridge is watery compared to Yoruba asaro but we just thicken ours with pumpkin when we want a thick yam porridge. Only difference is we don’t mash the yam or add tomato and tatashe to this one. But it’s just as thick as asaro when you use pumpkin (and tastier).

Food › Re: Jollof Rice Or Fried Rice by Probz(m): 11:02pm On Oct 25, 2017 |
Jollof rice any day. Only a few people these days still know how to cook proper Nigerian fried rice. If the cow liver’s not missing the colour’s barely off-white instead of the lime green it’s meant to be. It’s one of those things better cooked at home on weekends than served at parties. |

Let’s just say we’ve got different roles to play in the house. Women are more likely to make decisions based on emotion. |

bigfrancis21: Oh yes, the palm oil they sell here ain't close to the original we have back home. They sell 'enu mmanu' here. It’s crap. There’s this “Taste of Nigeria” one they’ve got where I live but even that’s not even close. No I always make sure I stack up on ugu at least so I won’t just be chopping vegetable yam and okro soup with kale and spinach. |

bigfrancis21: The last time I checked palm oil, and maybe groundnut oil, is/are not allowed into the airplane due to increased chances of flaming up due to increased gravity while in the aircraft is in the air. Do not bother about carrying those, you can buy them in many states here in the US. Not that the conc. palm “oil” in obodo oyibo is anything like Anambra palm oil. Lol. |

With tolotolo. I even used the leftover stew I had in the fridge to make this rice. That’s the only time you’ll see me eating stewed meat with jollof.
