IkwerrePikin:Imagine such a load of rubbish someone wrote?? Someone from Etche who is obviously more intelligent, smarter and educated than you has realized that it is sheer madness to deny his heritage yet onye nzuzu a, anuohia n'enweghi ako n'uche abia ebea n'akogheri So you will now speak for yourself, speak for ikwerre and still speak for him and his Etche people?? What sort of unreasonable line of thought is that? You want to play the devil's advocate, yet you want to drag others with you? Since you've decided to live a lie, why then would you force another person to go down that path with you? Or are you afraid that other Igbos will accept their heritage and leave you in the cold? Amadioha kugbuo gi there |
If 13500 naira is the salary of the so-called much hyped amotekun, then they're creating a problem instead of solving anything. You arm people only to pay them 13500 naira? I hope they won't turn on the law abiding citizens instead of the killer herdsmen. |
tsdarkside:Typical afonja man, people that are neither here nor there but always speaking from both sides of the mouth. They will be making noise about how Igbos will never rule Nigeria, then Igbos say no problem, we will leave Nigeria and form their own country, the same afonjas will still tell Igbos one million reasons why they should remain in Nigeria. SMH! Fighting for autonomy/independence is never easy and is never gotten within days, rather it takes time. Check USSR, Sudan, Ethiopia, Yugoslavia, South Africa, India etc. Biafra lived for a short period between 1967-70 now the agitation is back again and is gaining momentum with each passing day. Nigeria on the hand continues to struggle and fumble with one crises after another. No peace. No progress. But suffering, misery, poverty and killings is the order of the day with a clowd of uncertainty hovering over it, yet you believe it won't break up? Continue decieving yourself. |
codemaniacs:You really don't understand how these things work. If you like be the smartest guru in any of these agencies, it will still amount to zero if your boss is a quota system I'd!ot. In fact, the more you try to bring in innovations that will change the status quo, the faster they will throw your sorry ass outta the window. Nigeria was working during the 1950's and early 60's then the quota system people took over after the Biafra war and destroyed everything. |
Blessed people! God created Igbos specially to lead Africa to the promised Land but Nigeria became a stumbling block to that lofty ambition. In Biafra, Africa Died ~~ Fredrick Forsyth. Well, nothing can stop the inevitable and the continued existence of Nigeria in its present form is doing serious damage to the image of Africa and Blacks globally, so it needs to be dismantled for our collective good. Igbos are now spreading out and clinching strategic positions globally. These men and women will come handy when it is time to dismantle Nigeria. |
Dedetwo:The reason why the Niger Delta is in a mess is because the people can't think critically. The oil is drilled in their villages and they suffer all the collateral damages yet others in faraway places are the ones enjoying the proceeds. How many of them even own oil wells? East West road is still in terrible condition but not only has the federal government repaired those in other zones, they've now advanced to the level of building rails and other infrastructures. Ordinary headquarters of the oil companies that are drilling the oil are not even in the Niger Delta, instead they're in other places paying huge taxes to those state government, employing the indigenes of those places while they continue to suffer as their farmlands are polluted, streams polluted, air polluted and when rain falls, it baths them with acid rain They keep shouting our oyel this, Igbo that, while afonjas and abo.kis cart everything away. Ndi eriri eri ![]() |
ggood:Another BULSHIT. Peter Odili's wife is from Mbaise in Imo state. Peter Obi's wife is from Akwa Ibom. Okonjo Iweala married a man from Abia state. Three prominent personalities I just pulled from my head in a second! There are tens of thousands others too! Who are those running the whole sale, distribution, retail and services industry of not just Niger Delta but Nigeria as a whole if not Igbos? Yet this one is telling himself lies that they don't do business with Igbos. So who they do business with, fulani? Yoruba? Who exactly?? |
dokyOloye:Lol, I just come to nairaland whenever I'm bored for comic relief. Don't be surprised that half of those shouting South South and Niger Delta here are from the slums of South West. Their desperation is so alarming. |
Tranquill:Can't you see you're the bitter one here? I gave you facts that anyone can easily verify, you replied with illogical trash. I can feel your pains from here, truth is bitter like they say. Cry me a river, your tears are delicious to me ![]() Ndi uchu n'enweghi ako n'uche |
dokyOloye:Don't mind them. They always tell themselves lies against Igbos and still believe same lies. If Anambra with a high population and small landmass can still have such massive farms with vast areas yet to be utilized, then I wonder why Igboland can't be self sufficient in food production. If food production is reliant on having a large landmass alone, then Niger state would have been exporting excess food commodities to the whole of Africa yet nothing. |
dokyOloye:What do you expect? They are too dense and dull to reason logically and that's why you see them making ridiculous statements. |
LLobiorah:Aside the differences in language and culture, there is equal suspicion between them. Southern Cross River often aligns with Akwa Ibom but Ogoja axis do not relate well with Akwa Ibom. However, they will have two options i.e. to join Akwa-Cross or Biafra because they can't possibly stand on their own. |
Area4Area:Yes, I agree with you that it's speculation, but a very realistic one. The truth is that, not every Igbo man wants Biafra, but the reality is that majority wants it. Whichever side Asaba goes, the rest of Anioma will join it. Now, the side Asaba will go with is already obvious, they will go with their Igbo brothers once Nigeria breaks up. Osadebe who was the most influential Anioma man believed that they will always go with Igbos. The current Asagba of Asaba, Chike Edozien, believes that across the Niger is where their interest lies. Same with Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Again, Asaba has merged with Onitsha. Nollywood has made it the centre of our film industry which has fostered our integration. Many people now live in Asaba and do business in Onitsha yet despite all these facts, you still decieve yourself that Anioma people will chose Benin over their Igbo brothers You also believe that those villages that were criminally divided into two like Egbema, Asa etc. and pushed into SS will decide to go with them where confusion and fight will be a daily occurrence due to differences in language, culture and tradition instead of simply rejoining their blood brothers? So blood is no longer thicker than water?? Honestly, I can only laugh at you all as you continue to decieve yourselves. You can call it speculation but the odds are 98:2 against you ![]() |
Parisian:Haha, when we insult the South South (same way some of you insult us) we are often specific. For instance, those we call lazy are mainly some of you like the Ikwe.rre, the drunkards are the riverine parts of Bayelsa and Rivers State. Now this is not an insult but the reality on ground At what point did you come together to reject Biafra? You and who rejected Biafra? Asa area of Rivers State is rich in oil and gas than many other areas of Niger Delta and they are proud of their heritage as Igbos. They have never played politics with their heritage and even today, you can't go to Oyigbo and tell them they're not part of Biafra and come back alive, this is no joke! We can't focus on SE when as much as 30-40% of SS is made up of Igbos. Are you not a hypocrite by attaching yourself forcefully on the Asa man who has nothing in common with you yet telling me as an Igbo man not to relate with my brothers in the SS? Did the Igbos in Delta or Rivers tell you that they're going with you in your imaginery republic? Funny people, you're telling me to see my brothers in Rivers and Delta states as strangers just because some abo.ki created a stupid boundary to divide Igbo villages some years ago nd called it SS? So you believe that Igbos in Delta and Rivers State will see you that speaks a different language, has a different culture and tradition as a brother while their real blood brothers now becomes their enemy? Amadioha kugbuo gi there ![]() |
Area4Area:Don't get it twisted. Biafra is one people, one nation but Niger Delta comprises of many diverse ethnicities with different interests. So, while we can speak with one voice, they can't. In the same Niger Delta, there are many areas that are die-hard pro Biafra. Example of such is Oyigbo and the surrounding Asa areas. Oyigbo is just a stone throw from P.H. Asaba too is already merged with Onitsha and they will most likely go with their Igbo brothers along with the surrounding areas. If you believe that Itshekiri will belong to the same country with the Ijaw alone, then you're decieving yourself. The only part of South that can possibly stand as a country is the Akwa-Cross. The rest will be balkanized and most will join Biafra while the remnant will form Ijaw rep. Many of those River Niger tributaries will serve as the boundaries which automatically makes them international waters. Lastly, Nigeria will break up under its own weight of chaos, inefficiency and bankruptcy. It is only a matter of time. |
Christistruth00:This is becoming too childish for my liking. How old are you please? |
IDENNAA:You're even going far, Oyigbo parts of Igboland love the idea of Biafra more than many other parts of Igboland. Now, by the time we break away to form Biafra with them, P.H will be just a few miles away. Invading P.H which will be the capital of whatever is left of the imaginary Niger Delta rep, is something that can happen overnight. Which president will be stupid enough to attack Biafra interests when we can invade them and force a regime change ![]() |
Christistruth00:You this afonja man claiming South South, how exactly can you stop our food supplies when most of our food needs will be grown locally? You're not making sense, how exactly can you stop flights or ships from going to Biafra? You mean you will shoot down commercial or cargo planes flying across to Biafra or you will attack ships passing through the river to a port in Biafra? How can you achieve that? |
Christistruth00:It is all about necessity. Until recently, Nigeria was importing rice and other food commodities until there were some policy changes. All these hype about food from the North is overrated noise. What exactly do we get from the North that we can't grow on our own within a few years of policy changes? Rice, tomatoes, onions, cucumber? Any serious nation can become self sufficient in food production within a couple of years. There are lots of innovations that make mass production of food crops easy. It is the North that will even suffer when we develop our own alternatives. Your perishables will all go to waste annually and cattle will become worthless. With agriculture being your mainstay, your economy will tank and millions more will sink into crushing poverty. |
Parisian:Lol, this one is still ignorant. You mean that you minorities can actually stand Igbos in any form of hostilities? How exactly?? Blowing up pipelines at night or doing hit and run on poorly trained soldiers in the creeks doesn't mean anything. Who is talking about using your ports when ships, even smaller ones can easily sail to Onitsha or Obehie? Or you mean, you will attack cargo ships going to Biafra? Stop talking like a kid please. |
sageb:I'm not responsible for your lack of proper education. Where did I attach with anyone? Are you alright? Is this a case of inability to read and comprehend or what? Hundreds of thousands of Ibibio people have been living in Aba since the colonial times. They have interacted over the ages due to close proximity, same way parts of Igboland have interacted with Igala. Please don't qoute me next time if you have such low IQ, because I'm allergic to dull people. |
Christistruth00:Isn't it obvious why? Okay, I will tell you why! Due to aerial bombardments by the Egyptians, serious farming couldn't take place in Biafra and many farming communities were lost! Secondly, millions of Igbos returned en mass, and they were yet to settle when the war broke out. Majority of those that died of starvation were returnees. Biafra research and development unit even developed some foods during the war. |
Parisian:Last time I checked, South South has many ethnicities and they all have different interests. So do you mind speaking for your own group? The creation of SS is just for political convenience in Nigeria. Once Nigeria breaks up, South South will break up too and each of the ethnic groups there will decide where to belong. The interest of the Ijaws is not the same with the Itshekiri or Ibibio and the rest. The earlier you know that, the more reasonable you will sound. |
Christistruth00:Lies!! Biafra has enough arable lands to be food sufficient. What will happen is optimization. Secondly, how many countries produce all their food needs without buying some from others? Igboland still has vast lands that can be used for arable farming in all our states. In Ngwaland, Okpala, Ohaji, parts of Anambra, Nsukka etc. there lots of lands that are currently not being utilized fully. Nigeria will even be at the mercy of Biafra, because if we refuse to buy your tomatoes, onions, and cow (things we can get elsewhere) your people will suffer terribly. Your excess perishables will go to waste. Your cattle will become worthless and your economy which relies heavily on agriculture will tank. |
Area4Area:What dues are you talking about? Did Nigeria build any canal like the Seuz or Panama that our ships will have to pass through? Or are you saying Biafra bound ships will pay dues for passing through Atlantic ocean or the Rivers Niger or Imo? Funny people ![]() |
Blackking98:Lol, don't mind that guy. He does not understand what is at stake here. The major reason why Nigeria is afraid of Igbos leaving is because they know that once Igbos break away, the rest of the country will break into pieces. Historically, the Ibibios have always related with Igbos more than any other group. The two groups have always been good neighbors. I can even bet that they would be more comfortable to relate with Igbos than with Ijaws or other South South groups. South South is just a combination of disparate ethnic groups that were lumped together for political reasons. What does people of Akwa-Cross have in common with say Ijaw or Bini? South South's present boundary can never metamorphose into a country for several reasons, rather there would be countries like Ijaw/Niger Delta rep, Akwa-Cross rep, Bendel rep or Biafra that may comprise Akwa-Cross. Be rest assured there would be realignments once Nigeria breaks up. |
Ghengiskhan:I have been quite busy of late, but each time I log in to nairaland, I keep seeing lots of people making ignorant assertions and I end up being forced to correct them. Firstly, you compare apples with oranges when you bring the Ethiopia vs Egypt Nile analogy here. Do you even know what it takes to build a dam? At what point will Nigeria build the said dam? Before you can build a dam that will affect the flow of the Niger, you will also need a vast area of land that will be converted into a reservoir/artificial lake. Such vast expanse of lands is not available in the South to be wasted on a useless dam. Any dam built anywhere north of Onitsha will have no effect on the port. Dams were built in Kainji and Shiroro, but never affected the River Niger around Onitsha down to the mouth of the tributaries with the Atlantic ocean. The River Niger that lies in the North often dries up during the harmattan but the section here in the South never dries up for a number of reasons. Lastly, Niger Delta will even be at the mercy of an only Igbo Biafra. This is because, while Biafra will be homogeneous, they on their own will be heterogenous. The danger in that is that all the ethnic groups there will never be satisfied at the same time. Now, all Biafra will have to do will be to sponsor any agrieved ethnic/power block there and watch them destroy themselves. Don't think this is farfetched because it actually happens in many parts of Africa. Check Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda etc. and their relationship with one another. For instance, if Ijaws happen to be the ones in power, and the Ibibios feel aggrieved, they will team up with Biafra's support to oust the Ijaw leadership. You talking about Nigeria denying Biafra airspace, where has that happened before? The moment Biafra becomes recognized as a UN state, Nigeria can never block its airspace. Can the Arab countries block Isreali airspace despite surrounding it? Can Eritrea block Ethiopia's airspace? It only reason why it happened during the civil war was because Biafra was not yet recognized as a sovereign state. |
By the time the oil refinery and gas plants are completed, the economy of Owerri will expand more. Any smart person that has idle money in the banks should better buy lands now because ROI is going to skyrocket in no distant time. |
The government needs to fix the bad roads, cover all gutters, especially those ones high brow areas, put street lights in all major roads, put road signs and paintings in an exotic way. These things don't require a lot of money to fix, just having the passion alone to ensure they're all in place is enough. Once all these are put in place, I bet you, Owerri will be the most beautiful city in Nigeria after Abuja. Abuja has the second highest GDP in Nigeria after Lagos, and real estate development is responsible for it, and Owerri is also attracting lots of Investments in the real estate sector. The truth is that Owerri is grossly underrated. The city's airport attracts the fourth biggest volume of passengers in Nigeria's air traffic, after Lagos, Abuja and P.H. in that order. If the city is not vibrant and economically viable, thousands of people won't be trooping there and investments in real estate won't be so high. |
Arrewa:Lol, IPOB and Biafra is really giving this one nightmares. Continue decieving yourself, only the NW and parts of NE still believes in your Nigeria. Majority of middle belt are obviously frustrated with your Nigeria and are now looking for possible avenues to align with the South. North is no longer as imposing as it used be because the middle belt has broken out of it. Their leaders are already looking at how they can successfully team up with the South. There is serious realignment going on underground but you don't want to accept the reality, instead you turn around and blame IPOB, even when it is the MB that is making the move. |
yarimo:I'm sorry for you. You're calling the army to be unleashed on protesters? Yet the same useless army you're calling to deal with protesters are yet to deal with the real terrorists like Boko Haram, fulani herdsmen and bandits that have turned Northern Nigeria into a killing field. You are doing yourself! |
Lol, imagine the audacity. After the attrocities, they move in and grab the lands. Happened in Benue. Happened in Plateau. Now happening in Southern Kaduna. |
