Bawss1: Piracy had little to do with the movie bumming in the box office. Movie producers should stop using this as a excuse, the fact remains that people were not interested in seeing the movie in droves.

HOAYS was released first in the US and UK no, and in those markets (where it was hoped to make the bulk of its sales) it performed poorly. Did anyone pirate it there? In fact movies that are successful are the ones that witness a lot more piracy. This movie simply failed to pull in the crowd because of the way it was marketed or because it was deemed uninteresting by the public certainly not because of the infamous Alaba boys.

Content creators, i.e producers, artists etc, since the advent of the digital age have blamed piracy for the poor performance of their works when in truth their problem lies in the fact that have failed to employ these modern avenues of file distribution ... or simplify because their works aren't interesting enough.

Like you said "the more successful a movie is, the higher the level of its piracy". For example 'AVATAR'.

An average white man will have a copy of a movie in his house and still go to 'the movies' either with friends or on a date to see that same movie. Just like I'll go to TFC to buy fried-rice that can be made for me in my kitchen!



And again, we are back to what we were saying before --- the cinema-going-culture and the need for more screens in Nigeria.
