I humbly thank the OP for this wonderful information. As I speak, Covid-19 has been eradicated from the world solely because of this news. Poverty, killings perpetuated by Boko Haram and bandits have all ended. This news have boosted our economy to the point where akara sellers make hundreds of thousands of naira as daily sales.

Upon hearing this news, the minister of foreign affairs Geoffrey Onyeama has fully recovered from covid-19. This news is indeed wonderful!

There is Only One God. But there are many gods

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:"[Deut. 6 vs 4]

Jesus also confirmed it here that:
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:" [Mark: 12 vs 29]
Religion is also a cult where people can die for their belief. The man didn't say that you shouldn't believe in your God, he just said that he doesn't believe in it, no need for Bible quoting cos many of us don't believe in it.

This thread is to discourage cultism not Bible teaching or quoting.

My roommate back then in school was a bonafide AP member, he kept telling me that when he eventually becomes a tiger(a graduate) there are loads of connections and mystery jobs waiting for him, says his fellow tigers had his back secured.

Fast forward...

Just recently I got his contact on Facebook and we connected, as per long time friends and also it's been years since we graduated. The nigga is still living with his parents at 35 years old and without a job too.

Where is that mystery job, connections, and all?
Where are his tigers now?

Whether na sons of darkness (SOD), apache, 22, black beret, brotherhood of blood, Ejima men, national association of liberated tigers (N.A.L.T) or whatever alias they choose to go by, The group is just as useless as other dumb frats.

I tried linking him up with a colleague in a federal parastatal, upon sighting him, he said "this is Don ....." How did you know this beast? Don't you ever introduce me to this demon again. That was the end of that matter.

Besides I don't code PHP and I have nothing to prove to you. Thanks
It is not a contest, he's already 40 and the rate of retaining information would be much more difficult compared to someone in his early to late 20's. That's my argument. Programming is not easy which was the point I was buttressing earlier. I once told someone that programming is easy, after 4 months with no progress, we became enemies because she was making zero progress.

Life na per head, I only sent you the algorithm to make you understand my point. Cheers.

Lol. Another over-exaggerated post. All you said is correct but dude it's not entirely accurate.
You don't have to sit in front of your laptop for 10 hours because you're learning programming. The truth is, many beginner coders have jobs they are doing while learning programming, some are students who also have studies to face. So where is the time to spend 10 hours in a day learning programming?

What really matters is consistency, even if you spend just 3 hours, just be consistent, do it everyday. Yes, programming is frustrating, that's why I recommend anyone who wanna go into it to ensure they have the passion and drive for it.
Laughs. If you solve the algorithm challenge I got at an interview with a foreign company recently, I would wholeheartedly agree it is an overexaggeration.

When I talk about programming, I don't mean guys that build e-commerce websites and start jumping up and down, I mean programmers that are on top of their game. I'm expecting your reply.

I honestly want to switch to programming as in carrier change, considering that I am 40, can I still make it giving every input I put in.
Programming is not for the faint hearted o!!!
Programming is not theory that you can memorize, it takes practice practice, tears of frustration, loads of self doubt, spending of cash for online courses or bootcamps, fuel, internet connection etc.

You see that your son or daughter, once you start coding, you would beat the heck out of them cause it frustrates most times, you become antisocial because your brain is still trying to figure out why the simple 4 lines of code you learnt on Udemy didn't work.

The main problem begins when you start understanding the basis e.g. loops, for, while, etc. When it comes to implement your knowledge, you would start to understand how difficult this field is. Programming is very hard bro, although the joy that comes from being decent is immesurable.

At 40 it's kinda late o, except you are very good in mathematics or come from a CS background.

Frontend development, backend, Fullstack, machine learning etc no be beans o. As a Frontend developer with proficiency in JavaScript REACT framework, I practice for 4-7 hrs daily and it's not enough. When I became good at managing the state with Hooks and Normal OOP such as this.setState(), REDUX came out, you start hearing Actions, reducers and other terminologies that make you regret ever threading this career path.

Ask yourself, can I stomach this at 40? Can you sit down for 8-10 hrs watching tutorials and debugging your useless apps? Can you pass a programming job interview that requires algorithms? Can you? Can you build an enterprise grade app in 24hrs just to pass an interview for a job that pays 100k? Remember that those CS, CS engineering, mechanical engineering students are all gunning for the same job like you. They would even beat you blue black at the interview and request for smaller pay, because they love coding and want that experience.

Wishing you all the best in your endeavor.

Give it a try, if you discover that it's not making sense in 6months, move to something else, everyone cannot be a programmer

Career › Re: A Police Officer Wants To Quit Over Poor Pay by ProfAmaben(m): 11:11am On Jul 14, 2020
Ralpdee123:
Good morning Nlanders,

I have been considering quitting my police job to find something more productive & profitable to do with my life as a result of poor pay & lack of promotion.....

I was enlisted into the NPF since year 2009 at 21yrs, I was single then with big aspiration that someday I will move to the top echelon. While in the job, I struggled to send myself to school and bagged my first degree and through to masters level.

But one thing I have noticed is that there is no upward movement within the NPF unlike the other armed forces and some paramilitary agencies that have internal promotional policies of upgrading their personnel based on academic qualification and merit.

The first and only time this ever happened was five years ago when it was widely reported across all news platforms that the NPF was ready to promote graduates within the force to ASPs, exam was conducted, I passed and was selected to go to Abuja for final interview. It was a rough road for me as it was my first time at the FHQ, Abuja. But after like a week, the process was suspended indefinitely. That was the first time I heard the term MERIT LIST VS NATIONAL INTEREST LIST...the Senators and Reps etcs wanted to replace the list with their candidates and they disagree amongst themselves so the process was cancelled.

I must confess my family is getting larger now and the pay I get can't feed us not to talk of paying school fees. I had to double my hustle with side biz to meet up....

Even the Police academy now turn out graduates ASPs every year who are now superiors after just a few years. So what about us with requisite qualification and experience, don't we deserve to be promoted...?

It is on this note that I want to call it quit and move on...

So I need advice in this regard... Should I call it quit or still hold on a bit...cos I don tire......?

NB: For those of you that will be saying yenyenyen shocked police likes twenty Naira.... I have never received bribe from anyone throughout my 11 years in the job. I am the kind of Police Officer that you would meet on duty and would love to be a police officer.... grin

Please professionals in the house.... Flood my thread with your wealth of experience abeg....

.... Help me do the needed for a wider view.... wink
I doubt if you are a police officer in Nigeria with this good English and writing skill.

What did you study? What's your masters degree?

What skill do you possess and feel that you can be the very best in?

Let's start from there.

Demanding years of experience for junior developer roles is global. The founder of fastAPI even said so. He saw a job requiring 4 years of that technology experience but he himself created it 1.5 years ago. People should treat job requirements as a wishlist. If 5 years of experience is required. Read it as we are very okay with 6 months of experience. Get to the interview and let them decide.

Experience != Skill level.
Hahaha, I get it now. Anyway, programmers shouldn't give up no matter what. Landed my first gig after 6 interviews, it's all good now.

Any programmer that doesn't practice for a minimum of 4hrs daily, should kindly reevaluate his career path.

I agree with you.

True, there are lots of programmers right now, but there are very few programmers with the right skillsets. At least for the past 2 years, I've been in the forefront of recruiting developers for the company I work for and it is sad to admit that 90% of all programmers in Nigeria are shitty. They all shout "I am a developer" but don't have a clue what it takes to be one.

Regardless of the influx of programmer supply from other parts of the world, I've worked with several guys who are smart and very badass in programming and earn more than 12M NGN gross pray and are here in Nigeria.

My point is, companies will pay you if you are good enough, can sell yourself well, be very smart and don't give a shit about burning rickety bridges.
Wow, 2 years now. Yes, there are many shitty programmers but Nigerian companies hardly give them a shot. In Germany, they can employ you as a junior and give you 6 months to learn and pick up. Nigerian dev companies are wicked, they demand 5yrs of experience for junior developer roles, they give you advanced stuff at the interview whilst the proposed salary isn't up to 150k. I would advise any developer shitty or not to move out of Nigeria once they get hold of the basic concepts.

No electricity, expensive data for research but they want superhumans. Haba.

Niger Delta! NDDC was setup solely to develop Niger Delta but since it's inception, no reasonable achievement can be put forward by this commission.

Niger Deltans are the enemy of their region. I was opportuned to be involved in a project there but their youths and elders vehemently said that we must settle them before we commence a project that would better their lives. One bold elder even said "if the project na 200 million, make una carry half give us half, we no need am".

That was the end of that project.

Niger Deltans should demand more from NDDC, else, when this oil craze is over, you would only return to marsh land soaked in spilled oil.

Nice one scholars, sitting down to churn out quality research is not beans.
