SalamRushdie: For those who didn't understand what he said let me break it down for you , Osinbanjo in a subtle way blamed Buhari for the fall of the Naira because Buhari against common sense started a war with Niger delta militants that he wasn't equipped to win and this led to pipelines bombings + unrest in the region which in turn led to low production outputs in a period of low oil prices ..Osinbanjo thanks for saying the truth
Stop dignifying him (Osinbajo). He is totally wrong and ignorant. That is why they have mismanaged our economy.
I'm totally disappointed in you Mr Vice President. Based on this statement, it is glaringly evident that Osinbajo is unfit to pilot the economic team and probably the reason our economy is on a free fall. Now let me educate him. Forex availability is purely policy-driven and has nothing to do with the stupid reasons he adduced. When your monetary policy becomes pro-market, the Forex will take care of itself. Being pro-market means "a social and economic system in which prices are fixed by the law of supply and demand rather than by a government or other body. In its pure form, a market economy is an economy absent of government subsidies, incentives, or regulations". This purely has been the economic direction of our dear country since 1999 until Buhari came in and changed everything.
I find it unthinkable and unnecessary to pray for d recovery of someone whom we are told is hale and heart and not hospitalised. President should get back to work without further delay
Two Nigerian soldiers have been arrested and charged with assault after they were caught on video brutally assaulting a disabled man for allegedly wearing a camouflage shirt, the army has said in a statement.
The arrests were in line with the army's "zero tolerance" for acts of indiscipline, unprofessional conduct and human rights violations.
A video circulating on socal media shows the assault:
Abagworo: Don't compare Obiano with Okorocha at all. Obiano never start. Okorocha did 800km of these types of roads in his 1st term and is doing something much more solid in this his 2nd term. Let Obiano finish 1st term and then you can compare.
Can u pls shut up and listen to yourself. stop lying and fear God for once. Let me tell u, I'm from Umuowa in Orlu. Rochas ripped up all the roads in Orlu in 2011 (both in villages and towns) and abandoned almost all of them. 90% of the roads are in serious bad shape. That has left people of Orlu zone grieving, suffering and cursing Rochas who curried their votes in 2015 with a promise to complete those roads. The only road he managed to construct ( Amaifeke to Umunna) has started breaking down. The road leading to Umuowa was cut off during rainy season all thanks to Rochas' rascality. So hold your head in shame and leave this thread.
How many states have railway infrastructures? How long does it take to fix or construct one? This should be a long term goal and not short. Why not tackle the diesel problem now, even it means introducing more subsidy on it and making sure it's available. What about fixing the roads on which these trucks ply? what about building crop and food storage systems in cities? what about govt buying farm produce from farmers and then storing them in these storage systems(silos), thereby encouraging them to produce more?
You guys from the other side are pained. American celebrities like Oprah Winfrey (Liberia, Cameroon, Zambia), LeVar Burton (Nigeria), Don Cheadle (Cameroon), Whoopi Goldberg (Guinea-Bissau), Common (Cameroon), Vanessa A. Williams (Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Senegal), Jessica Williams (Cameroon), Chris Rock ( Cameroon) famously traced their DNA roots to Africa and where so encouraged by the outcome. But here, people of hate are slating us, displaying their ignorance, hatred and inhumanity in a brazen manner.
LordIsaac: Lols...is this not in itself a serious inferiority complex?
I know u are badly pained. Let me ask: American celebrities like Oprah Winfrey (Liberia, Cameroon, Zambia), LeVar Burton (Nigeria), Don Cheadle (Cameroon), Whoopi Goldberg (Guinea-Bissau), Common (Cameroon), Vanessa A. Williams (Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Senegal), Jessica Williams (Cameroon), Chris Rock ( Cameroon). etc who traced their DNA roots to African countries, did they feel inferior to us. You are just like Gordons the comedian who doesn't think before he talks.
Ikedife Hospital located along Igwe Orizu Road, Otolo-Nnewi, Anambra State is playing host to Jewish scientists, who are in Nnewi to conduct Deoxyribonucleic Acid, DNA, test on interested citizens there to determine the Jewish relationship with Igbos. Hundreds of people trooped out in their numbers, yesterday, to participate in DNA test to ascertain the validity of the claims that the Igbo migrated from that part of the world. As early as 7.00 am people had started arriving from every part of Igboland to take part in the cell screening exercise, while a few policemen were seen in the hospital premises to ensure a hitch free DNA exercise. hospital corridor Former President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, and owner of the hospital, while addressing newsmen on the exercise, said there had been stories of Jewish/Igbo relations based on archaeological discoveries and mythology, saying he facilitated the Jewish scientist to come and prove the mythology. He said the Israeli-Yaweh group came into the country to take a random sampling of cells from the people in the South-East for studies to carry out a DNA analysis and comparison in Houston Texas USA. According to him, “the idea is to establish scientifically the relationship of the two groups of people. It is necessary to satisfy the curiosity and answer the question in the minds of many for quite some time. “The world has gone advanced, cellular examination can be used to establish the claim or otherwise of this kind of believe. In this modern time, such claims of relationship should not be left in the domain of mythological theories alone There is need to subject the claim to scientific proof. “If at the end of the day, it is confirmed that we are relations, we would remain brothers and friends, but if it proved negative we remain friends. My curiosity is based on the fact that I studied Anthropology as well as Medicine, the result of the cell examination is expected to be out in August this year.”
Opakan2: Nah.. you're wrong Infact it's the other way round. All the freedom fighters we've had are from Yoruba land, no single one from Igbo land. Only AGIP and political prostitutes who can't stand for anything (it reflects in their political wit as a people)
Funmi (Fela's mum), Anikulapo himself, Gani, Falana etc. etc. Even Sowore the SR guy is yoruba we know when to act, what you igbos don't. Why you lots resort to cheap blackmail of yorubas but chicken out whenever the North speaks #Proudlyyoruba
sarrki: Chai Chai Jona you can see how you looted us dry
what do u do when u have done the same thing over and over and yet no positive result? You change the way u do things and move on. What has APC done for two 2 years? they only blame PDP and even the electorates but cannot come up with something positive and innovative. what do u call this whole scenario? it's called cluelessness, incompetence, stupidity and brazen arrogance. what do u call the purveyors of blame like u? they are called zombie. Go and get cured pls.
NgeneUkwenu: From Jalingo To Kafanchan and then Back to Calabar, people were seen going about their normal business, everywhere was buzzing with business activities....nothing like protests whatsoever. Even in Ekiti State, where fayose has chained his people with hunger...Nothing like protest was noticed.
If not for about 30 Members of opposition PDP that carried placards like lost souls in Abuja, the city would have recorded Zero protest.
Then in Lagos, where a handful of protesters were seen matching and chatting away with policemen- which some observers described as a walk out exercise, that also ended as soon as it started.
All in all, the protest yesterday was an epic flop!
lalasticlala whats happening?
Oya take am in case u no see them yesterday. Nigerians trooped out despite the intimidation, harassment and cancellation.
For clarity sake, this is neither a Rev Fr nor Bishop of the Catholic church. The alter and the personality in question do not in way have the trappings of Catholicism. Meanwhile, Catholic Rev Fathers do not wear the red cap, it's only the Bishops that do but they do so with dignity. Stop peddling falsehood against the Catholic church
Orikinla1: Popular Nigerian singer, Mr. Innocent Idibia, alias "2Face" or "2baba" has suddenly realized that Nigerians are suffering? Which Nigerians are suffering? A minority of poor urban dwellers who have refused to explore the numerous opportunities offered to them in the over 84 million hectares of fertile land of Nigeria where agriculture accounts for about two-thirds of Nigeria's employment (120 million people), contributing at least 22% to the country's economic growth.
These 120 million Nigerians are feeding Nigeria day and night.
Nigeria has become the largest producer of cassava in the world with an annual output of 45 million metric tons. Now you know why Tekno can boast of his big cassava in his hit song "Pana".
Nigeria is the 2nd largest producer of tomatoes in Africa and the 13th largest producer in the world (1.2 million tonnes).
The following are facts from the World Bank. Please, read.
Real gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have grown by 6.1% owing to continued strong performance mainly in services, but also industry (apart from oil mining) and agriculture. The oil sector was in decline, albeit at a slower rate than in the previous year. Oil and gas GDP was estimated to have declined by 1.3%, relative to a decline of 13.1% in 2013. The sharp decline in oil prices since the third quarter of 2014 has posed major challenges to the country’s external balance and public finances. Oil accounts for close to 90% of exports and roughly 75% of the country’s consolidated budgetary revenues. The GDP numbers indicate that telecommunications, real estate, manufacturing, construction, entertainment increased their shares of GDP.
Nevertheless, much lower oil prices will continue to pose strong challenges for public finance at all levels of government during the year, and will also represent a major constraint on the ability of the new federal government to launch some of its ambitious programs.
Political context
The fifth consecutive national elections held in March and April 2015 and won by an opposition party were considered as fair and relatively peaceful by national and international Election Monitors as compared to the post-election killings and destructions of 2011.The successful general elections in 2015 is largely credited to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the leadership of the Presidential candidates. The New Government is focusing on anti-corruption, Jobs and unemployment, the economy and Security.
Development Challenges
In the North East, Boko Haram remains a threat, and millions of displaced persons require assistance. There has been major destruction of infrastructure along with the loss of lives and impoverishment in this region. The new government will have a difficult time in the short term financing the major programs that it wants to roll out as well as reconstructing the North East devastated by the activities of insurgents
Accelerating the creation of productive jobs through private sector growth and improvements in education (skills) remains the major medium-term challenge. ~ Sep 30, 2015. End.
President Muhammadu Buhari is more innocent than Innocent Idibia who ignored the suffering Nigerians when his godfathers in the former national ruling party of Nigeria, People's Democratic Party (PDP) lavished on him millions of naira from their loot to sponsor his fairy tale wedding in Dubai and luxury cars and SUVs. But they failed to save the billions of dollars the PDP administration made from high oil prices until their cookie crumbled as the PDP lost the presidential election in 2015.
With the current war against corruption , his godfathers have stopped patronizing 2Face and the big wigs of the new national ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) have ignored him; and the new generation of contemporary Nigerian musicians; Whizkid, Olamide, Tekno, Flavour and others have relegated him to the background. He is now seeing the realities of those suffering in urban areas of Lagos city where the cost of living is high. And they ignorantly assume that the rest of Nigerians who are in the rural areas are in dire straits as them. But they are wrong. The majority of Nigerians are busy on their farmlands and producing more than enough food to feed us and also exporting to other countries.
We should be thanking Almighty God for blessing Nigeria with bountiful harvest without any drought and not plotting civil disobedience with agent provocateurs who want to discredit the Federal Government of Nigeria for their own sinister motives and selfish political ambitions for the 2019 general elections.
2Face should emulate his fellow patriotic Nigerian musician, D'banj who is promoting and supporting farmers. Pessimists have never achieved greatness. But optimists have conquered and achieved great things for humanity.
I have been very critical of both the past and new administrations of the Federal Government with patriotic zeal and not being narrow minded and negative in attitude. I suffered and survived the civil war as a refugee child when hundreds of thousands of my fellow innocent Igbo children died of kwashiorkor in Biafra when 2Face and majority of his noisemakers were not yet born. What 2Face and the "Indomie" generation of Nigerian Millennials are calling suffering is nothing compared to what we suffered in Biafra.
The stringent requirements of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) affected me on foreign earnings and I became very broke and was actually cashless. And our church started 40 days fasting. Who will fast when you don't even have food to break the fast? So, I wrote: " Dear Pastor, I am not fasting. I am starving. ".
In conclusion, the "Indomie" generation should be indomitable and not behaving like cry babies crying for cookies when they have "Guguru" corn and "Epa" groundnuts they can eat.
God bless Nigeria.
Wisdom is not for everyone. Obviously u don't have wisdom. Stop ranting and seek wisdom
Igboid: I was about pointing this out. Good a thing Ndiigbo are becoming politically and ethnically conscious.
This is likely a Yoruba agenda. I doubt Buhari has a hand in this. This has Tinubu/ Osibanjo written all over it. This is why folks from that part of the country want to die on top "Biafra" matter even more than the North.
What are the Igbo political robbers cum politicians like Rochas, Nnamani, Kalu, etc who had all flocked to APC and whose stock in trade is to denigrate Ndiigbo to become acceptable to Nigerians have to say about this development? cc: Abagworo
Why are you people so blind to see that this empowerment scheme is managed entirely by the office of the vice president who is a Yoruba man and surrounded by his kinsmen. I don't think we should blame Buhari for this, rather we should be questioning Osinbajo. The entire states (Lagos, Oyo, osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti) of south west zone were all included in the scheme. Isn't it so obvious? It should be noted that the real enemies of Igbo race are the back-stabbing and unstable Yoruba people. They know that empowering an Igbo man living outside Lagos is an unthinkable and detrimental and shouldn't be tried at all. My people be wise.
The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday met behind closed doors with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha.
The meeting which lasted about 30minutes was held inside Osinbajo’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
At the end of the meeting, Dogara did not speak with journalists.
He said he only accompanied Okorocha who is the Imo State Governor to visit Osinbajo.
Speaking on the call for Igbo President, the governor told State House correspondents that that could only come up at the end of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said, “What I do know is that Ndigbo should talk about Presidency after President Muhammadu Buhari. I think we should support this government.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has a tenure to work for: four or eight years.
“According to the zoning arrangement and everybody should follow the zoning although I am not an advocate of zoning.”
Okorocha said efforts were ongoing to reposition the ruling All Progressives Congress in the South East.
He reiterated his position that some governors in the zone would be joining APC soon.
He said, “The APC as a party is strong in the South East. We are trying to rebuild the party and redefine leadership so there will be no confusion.
“As to whether the APC in the South East is in disarray as the case has always been, we want to have a united party in the South East.
“We are hopeful from all discussions that about two governors will be joining us in the South East to strengthen the party.
“Right now, we have agreed that Senator Ken Nnamani should take a lead of the party in the South East to enable us have a common understanding, along with other leaders like Chief Jim Nwobodo.”
When confronted with the fact that some governors had denied his claim, Okorocha said, “I don’t think it is true, but if it is true it is probably because it is not time. It could be because I spoke when they were not yet ready.”
"Leaders think of the next policies and programs while rulers think of the next election"....Okorocha in 2011. This same crook now preoccupies himself with d next election. This is change in action.
