9 Must-Eat Nutrients for Your Child Nutrients 1-3 Every parent has heard that children should be eating a "balanced diet." But a balance of what? Here are the nine nutrients that every child should be getting on a daily basis: 1. Protein Protein helps a child's body build cells, break down food into energy, fight infection, and carry oxygen. Foods that contain high levels of protein include: • Meat • Poultry • Fish • Eggs • Nuts • Beans • Dairy products 2. Carbohydrates While the latest diet trend is to "cut the carbs," carbohydrates are actually the body's most important source of energy. They help a child's body to use fat and protein for building and repairing tissue. Carbohydrates come in several different forms (sugars, starches, and fiber), but kids should be eating more of the starches and fibers and less of the sugar. Foods that contain high levels of carbohydrates include: • Breads • Cereals • Rice • Crackers • Pasta • Potatoes 3. Fats Fats are a great source of energy for kids and are easily stored in a child's body. They are also important in helping the body to properly use some of the other nutrients it needs. Foods that contain high levels of fats include: • Whole-milk dairy products • Cooking oils • Meat • Fish • Nuts Nutrients 4-6 4. Calcium Calcium is essential in helping to build a child's healthy bones and teeth. It's also important for blood clotting and for nerve, muscle, and heart function. Foods that contain high levels of calcium include: • Milk • Cheeses • Yogurt • Ice cream • Egg yolks • Broccoli • Spinach • Tofu 5. Iron Iron is necessary for a child to build healthy blood that carries oxygen to cells all over the body. Foods that contain high levels of iron include: • Red meats • Liver • Poultry • Shellfish • Whole grains • Beans • Nuts • Iron-fortified cereals 6. Folate Folate, necessary for soon-to-be moms, is also very important for kids. One of the B vitamins, folate is necessary for healthy growth and development of a child's cells. Lack of this vitamin can cause anemia. Foods that contain high levels of folate include: • Whole-grain cereals • Lentils • Chickpeas • Asparagus • Spinach • Black or kidney beans • Brussels sprouts Nutrients 7-9 7. Fiber Fiber helps produce bowel regularity in a child. It can also play a role in reducing the chances of heart disease and cancer later in life. Foods that contain high levels of fiber include: • Whole-grain cereals • Chickpeas • Lentils • Kidney beans • Seeds • Nuts 8. Vitamin A Vitamin A serves a variety of purposes in kids and adults. It helps growth, assists the eyes in adjusting to dim and bright lights, keeps skin healthy, and works to prevent infection. Foods that contain high levels of Vitamin A include: • Carrots • Sweet potatoes • Squash • Apricots • Spinach • Broccoli • Cabbage • Fish oils • Egg yolks 9. Vitamin C Vitamin C does more than just fighting off the common cold. It also holds the body's cells together, strengthens the walls of blood vessels, helps the body heal wounds, and is important for building strong bones and teeth. Foods that contain high levels of Vitamin C include: • Citrus fruits (such as oranges) • Strawberries • Tomatoes • Potatoes • Melons • Cabbage • Broccoli • Cauliflower • Spinach • Papayas • Mangos http://livehealthyafrica..com.ng/ Sources: The Nemours Foundation; National Network for Child Care; Meals That Heal for Babies, Toddlers, and Children(Pocket Books, 1996); U.S. Food and Drug Administration |
Five Important Reasons to Vaccinate Your Child Immunization prevents illness, disability and death from vaccine-preventable diseases including cervical cancer, diphtheria, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia, polio, rotavirus diarrhea, rubella and tetanus. Immunizations have helped children stay healthy for more than 50 years. They are safe and they work. In fact, serious side effects are no more common than those from other types of medication such as antibiotics and fever reducers and pain relievers. Vaccinations have reduced the number of infections from vaccine-preventable diseases by more than 90%! Yet many parents still question their safety because of misinformation they have received. That’s why it’s important You want to do what is best for your children. You know about the importance of car seats, baby gates and other ways to keep them safe. But, did you know that one of the best ways to protect your children is to make sure they have all of their vaccinations? Immunizations can save your child’s life. Because of advances in medical science, your child can be protected against more diseases than ever before. Some diseases that once injured or killed thousands of children, have been eliminated completely and others are close to extinction– primarily due to safe and effective vaccines. Polio is one example of the great impact that vaccines had have in Nigeria and Africa. Polio was once Nigeria’s one of the most-feared diseases, causing death and paralysis across the country, but today, Nigeria has interrupted transmission of wild poliovirus, bringing the country and the African region closer than ever to being certified polio-free. Vaccination is very safe and effective. Vaccines are only given to children after a long and careful review by scientists, doctors, and healthcare professionals. Vaccines will involve some discomfort and may cause pain, redness, or tenderness at the site of injection but this is minimal compared to the pain, discomfort, and trauma of the diseases these vaccines prevent. Serious side effects following vaccination, such as severe allergic reaction, are very rare. The disease-prevention benefits of getting vaccines are much greater than the possible side effects for almost all children. Immunization protects others you care about. While some babies are too young to be protected by vaccination, others may not be able to receive certain vaccinations due to severe allergies, weakened immune systems from conditions like leukemia, or other reasons. To help keep them safe, it is important that you and your children who are able to get vaccinated are fully immunized. This not only protects your family, but also helps prevent the spread of these diseases to your friends and loved ones. Immunizations can save your family time and money. A child with a vaccine-preventable disease can be denied attendance at schools or child care facilities. Some vaccine-preventable diseases can result in prolonged disabilities and can take a financial toll because of lost time at work, medical bills or long-term disability care. In contrast, getting vaccinated against these diseases is a good investment and usually covered by insurance. The Vaccines for Children program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children from low-income families. Immunization protects future generations. Vaccines have reduced and, in some cases, eliminated many diseases that killed or severely disabled people just a few generations ago. For example, smallpox vaccination eradicated that disease worldwide. Your children don’t have to get smallpox shots anymore because the disease no longer exists. By vaccinating children against against transmittable viral diseases, the risk that pregnant women will pass this virus on to their fetus or newborn will be decreased, and birth defects associated with that virus no longer are seen in the future. If we continue vaccinating now, and vaccinating completely, parents in the future may be able to trust that some diseases of today will no longer be around to harm their children in the future. http://livehealthyafrica..com.ng/ |

Hyprocritical and evil set of people. Why haven't they probed the recent promotion/appointment by the new customs boss Col. Hammid Alli where every other zone got not less than 10 comptrollers except south east that got 4. In the same vein, every other zone retained the traditional 4 ACGs/DCGs except SE that got only one DCG. For the avoidance of doubt, here is the break down of comptroller positions in the recent promotion; SE 4, SS 11, SW 10, NE 26, NW 25 and NC 19. Tell me why IPOB, MEND and MASSOB will not protest when there is planned ethnic cleansing going on in govt institutions under PMB regime. By Nwabueze Okonkwo ONITSHA – Traders under the aegis of South-East Amalgamated Markets Traders Association, SEAMATA yesterday stated that they are in total support of the pro-Biafra groups who are agitating for the restoration or actualization of Biafra republic, adding that that they are condemning in totality the invasion of markets by the agitators. They said contrary to media reports that they are against Biafra agitation, the traders, as core Igbo men and women are in support of the efforts to restore Biafra through non-violence and not through violence agitation as obtained in the recent protests embarked upon by the agitators during which they forcefully entered into the markets and harassed the traders for opening their shops President-General of SEAMATA Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo in a press statement he jointly signed with the Secretary-General, Mr. Temple Udeh, noted that in as much as the traders support the movement for Biafran state, they are in total condemnation of a situation where the pro-Biafra agitators/protesters allowed themselves to be infiltrated by some miscreants who cashed in on the protest to loot and do all sorts of things in the markets. SEAMATA further stated that the invasion of the markets by Biafra supporters in the name of protest which led to vandalization and destruction of shops, vehicles and other valuables belonging to their fellow Igbos was not only condemnable but unacceptable, adding, “to set the record straight and for the purposes of clarity, the traders are not challenging the constitutional right of peaceful assembly of any one. We only condemned the attitude of the protesters (or miscreants that infiltrated them) that went into markets, chased the traders out and closed the entrances to the market”. “It was the maturity of the leadership that directed the security men in these markets not to challenge them, that forestalled casualties. The protest was not peaceful as it recorded casualities. If the Pro-Biafra protesters held their protest in a field or any stadium, there wouldn’t have been any issue to warrant all these misrepresentation of intentions”, they stated. They recalled that when it protested the alleged relocation of Boko Haram detainees to Anambra state, the protesters went on without harassing or disturbing anybody going about his of her businesses, adding that when the entire South-East traders protested, mother protest went on in Ekwulobia stadium and no individual was molested, unlike the pro-Biafra protesters. “That we all are Igbos both traders and protesters are not in contention, that the problem of one Igbo man shall attract the sympathy of the other is stressing the obvious. But it is against natural justice and fairness to create a more difficult problem as a solution to an existing one. “If the protests were in an open field or stadium, those that put the entire Igbo in this mess couldn’t have had the opportunity. The protesters could even decide to sleep in the venue for days as are witnessed in other parts of the countries without disturbance. The statement of the traders is for the protesters to leave the market. The traders never disowned anybody or group as reported in some quarters”, SEAMATA stated. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/were-in-support-biafra-but-against-violent-protests-in-our-markets-south-east-traders/ |
By Ikenna Asomba, Nwabueze Okonkwo, Chimaobi Nwaiwu & Ugochukwu Alaribe Over seven thousands members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, shut down markets and all commercial activities in Nnewi, Anambra State in solidarity protest for the release of the Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, who has been incarcerated by the Directorate of State Services, DSS, for over one month. Members of the IPOB mobilized from Onitsha, Asaba, Awka, Ekwulobia, Awka-Etiti, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia states, converged at Nnewi from where they marched to the house of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to ask for his blessing even in death. This came as constitutional lawyer and leader of eminent group of Nigerians, The Patriots, Professor Ben Nwabueze (SAN), admonished the groups to have a re-think over their renewed calls for the state of Biafra. According to one of the commanders, of IPOB, Mr. Emeka Onwane, the protest was a warning signal to the Federal Government to make sure that Kanu, who he said, would appear in court today is released without further delay. Ohaneze-BiafraOnwane said they decided to shut down Nnewi and made sure there were no commercial and business activities to further press home their demand for Kanu’s release without which he said there would be no peace in Nigeria. He said the protest would last for three days, and they chose Nnewi for the mother of all rallies as it is the home-town of the former Biafra war lord, late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu. “IPOB is looking up to the international community including the United States, Russia, France and every other countries excluding Britain which is the enemy of Biafra. We are not talking about Igbo presidency; we are talking about an independent nation of Biafra. So, we are looking up to world leaders to help us actualize Biafra,” he said. The protesters moved from St. Mary Junction to Nkwo Nnewi market, down to the express way leading to Nnewi Area Command, through Odumegwu Ojukwu’s residence to Owerri Road, Nkwo Nnewi Triangle and later headed for Awka-Etiti through Nnobi. Onwane said their journey was an endless one but assured that it would all be peaceful as they displayed placards with inscriptions as ‘Free Nnamdi Kanu,’ ‘Free Biafra,’ ‘No Biafra, no peace,’ ‘We want Biafra now,’ ‘Biafra now or never.’ Strict warning In Aba, Abia State, members of the group warned traders across markets not to open for business today. Vanguard gathered that IPOB members visited Ariaria International, Ngwa Road, Cemetery and Ekeoha markets with public address system announcing to the traders to shut their shops. A cross section of traders, who spoke to Vanguard, condemned the order and appealed to the IPOB members to allow the markets open. According to them: ”They should allow the markets open. Any trader, who wants to join the protest is free, but a total closure of the market will hurt us severely.” A trader, Mrs. Nwamaka Nnadi, who also faulted the ‘order,’ said the announcement warning traders to steer clear of the markets started on Sunday, as some pro Biafra agitators were observed in some areas, ‘spreading the message.’ Pledging their loyalty But traders under the aegis of South-East Amalgamated Markets Traders Association, SEAMATA, yesterday, stated that they were in total support of the pro-Biafra groups but condemned the invasion of markets by the agitators. The traders said that contrary to media reports that they were against Biafra agitation, they were indeed in support of the efforts to restore Biafra through non-violence and not through violent agitation as obtained in the recent protests embarked upon by the agitators during which they forcefully entered into the markets and harassed the traders for opening their shops. President-General of SEAMATA, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo in a press statement he jointly signed with the Secretary-General, Mr. Temple Udeh, noted that in as much as the traders support the movement for the state of Biafra, they were in total condemnation of a situation where the pro-Biafra agitators/protesters allowed themselves to be infiltrated by some miscreants who cashed in on the protest to loot and do all sorts of things in the markets. SEAMATA further stated that the invasion of the markets by Biafra supporters in the name of protest which led to vandalization and destruction of shops, vehicles and other valuables belonging to their fellow Igbo was not only condemnable but unacceptable. He added: “To set the record straight and for the purpose of clarity, the traders are not challenging the constitutional right of peaceful assembly of any one. We only condemn the attitude of the protesters (or miscreants that infiltrated them) that went into markets, chased the traders out and closed the entrances to the market”. Uwazuruike expelled In a new twist, the crisis rocking the MASSOB which led to the factionalization of the group, with Chief Ralph Uwazuruike leading one group and his National Director of Information heading another group, yesterday, deepened and led to the alleged expulsion of Uwazuruike and installation of Uchenna Madu as the new national leader of MASSOB. The installation of Madu took place after the national officers including the zonal and regional administrators of the group formally announced the expulsion of Chief Uwazuruike as MASSOB national leader in an event that was witnessed by even non-MASSOB members. While Madu became the new leader in acting capacity for six months, Ugwuoke Ibem Ugwuoke, emerged the National Secretary. MASSOB warned Uwazuruike “to stop parading himself as MASSOB leader or using Ojukwu’s name to dupe Ndigbo or garner personal fame to pursue his political ambition.” The members also indicted the sacked MASSOB leader of allegedly defrauding the members through “the introduction of the Biafra international passport, a gross and dubious means through which he generated about N100 million for himself. “The over N40 million realized from the dedication of the Biafran war veterans home in Okwe, built by MASSOB members, was diverted to Uwazuruike’s personal purse,” the group alleged. No to secession But speaking yesterday in Lagos at a press conference to announce the 4th Goddy Jidenma Foundation bi-annual Public Lecture, entitled: ‘Leadership, Responsibility & Good Governance,’ holding on Wednesday, December 3, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, Victoria Island, Lagos, Professor Nwabueze, who blamed the nation’s leadership problem, for the renewed agitations for the state of Biafra, however, advised the protesting youths that the answer to their genuine grievances did not lie in secession. According to Nwabueze, who was flanked by the Principal Solicitor, Zik Chuka Obi & Co and Dr. Ije Jidenma, Executive Secretary, GJF, and wife of the late Goddy Jidenma, clamping down on pro-Biafra protesters or sending them to prison is not the solution to the problem. This was a problem that led us to war. What did we achieve by that war? Did we achieve Biafra? We didn’t. Is there any basis to think that it can be realised this time? Are we more prepared for it now than we were in 1967. Certainly not, we aren’t prepared for it.” Speaking further, he said: “However, we must not condemn the people that are agitating. The present administration must look at the root cause of their protests. These people protesting are all young people. Some of them have not been employed for over 10 years after graduating from the university. “In my own time, graduate unemployment was unknown. There was nothing like that. The unrest we are witnessing today is caused by this anomaly. “Tied to this, the recent actions of President Buhari contributes to this unrest. Buhari made 24 key appointments, not a single one came from the South-East. What do you expect the youths from that area to feel. They will feel that they have been deprived of that sense of belonging. They will feel that they don’t belong to Nigeria. If by the President’s actions, he’s saying they don’t belong to Nigeria, then, they will start agitation for Biafra, where they can belong. “People may describe this feeling as an illusion, but I must say that the feeling is already there. You can’t say to a man who is aggrieved that he has no right to be aggrieved. Address the source of the grievances. Correct your own approach to leadership. Make them feel that they belong. That’s the answer. The answer is not clamping them to prisons.” The former Nigerian Secretary of Education, however, advised the leadership of MASSOB and IPOB to change their names, noting that the names they currently bear act as a clog in the wheel of their causes. “I have said it in the past that there is something wrong with the name that pro-Biafra groups are using for their cause. As the pioneer Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a position I held for 25 years, I had meetings with the leader of MASSOB, Ralph Uwazurike, where I told him the honest truth, that look, you may have something up, but the name MASSOB, defeats your cause. Therefore, you must change the name. How can you be talking about actualisation of a sovereign state within a sovereign state. That’s treasonable. The name alone is treasonable. You can see that the authorities are charging the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and others for treason. Although, I have called for his immediate release and have asked that he comes to see me when he’s released. I want to see him. The name should be changed. MASSOB is there, IPOB is also there. So, which is which? The name should be changed,” he insisted. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/biafra-ipob-massob-shut-down-markets-in-nnewi-aba-for-nnamdi-kanu/

By Emeka Mamah, Francis Igata, Peter Okutu, Chimaobi Nwaiwu & Chinonso Alozie The apex Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, rose from its Imeobi (highest decision organ) meeting in Enugu and called on the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained Director of Radio Biafra and leader of IPOB, unconditionally. Nnamdi-Kanu in court Nnamdi-Kanu in court However, the meeting, which was billed to hold with representatives of MASSOB and IPOB was boycotted by the pro-Biafra groups. Ohanaeze‘s directive was contained in a communique jointly signed by the National President of Ohanaeze, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey and the Secretary General, Dr. Joe Nworgu. They said that agitations and public protests over Biafra had been exacerbated by the detention of Mr. Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra. At the meeting attended by representatives of both the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, in Enugu yesterday, Ohanaeze further expressed displeasure over the continued incarceration of Kanu, saying that it was gravely concerned over current wide-spread public Biafra agitations in states of the South-East and some other states of Nigeria for the actualization of Biafra. The communique read in part: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organization of Ndigbo in Nigeria and the Diaspora, is gravely concerned by current wide-spread and public Biafra agitations in states of the South-East and some other states of Nigeria. “These agitations and public protests have become exacerbated by the detention of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the promoter/proprietor/director of Radio Biafra by Department of State Services, DSS.” It further stated that “Ohanaeze Ndigbo fears that these developments may threaten the security and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians wherever they may be domiciled, and consequently, decided to summon an emergency meeting of Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo to discuss the situation. “This emergency meeting was held in Enugu at the National Secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Sunday, (yesterday), November 29, 2015. Representatives of the various organizations and associations involved in the current public protest also attended the meeting. “The Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo, after extensive candid discussions and analysis of the situation is of the view that the current agitations are the direct result of the excruciating pain of severe injustice, marginalization and exclusion of Ndigbo from decision making structures in Nigeria as currently configured. “The Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo strongly avers that the exclusion of Ndigbo in decision making structure presents danger to the unity and well-being of the country, not only now, but also in future, and should be redressed urgently. Attacking Uwazuruike Meantime, the movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, also yesterday, lashed out on the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, accusing him of hypocrisy and deceit over his call for the unconditional release of the incarcerated director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government. This came as the former Chairman of Police Service Commission, PSC, Chief Simon Okeke cautioned some Igbo elders to “stop making pronouncements that can be very infuriating and dishonourable to the agitating groups . He also urged them to speak out early when youths start derailing, instead of keeping what he called “criminal silence” and subsequently condemning them when things get out of hand. MASSOB and IPOB leaders after their joint meeting attended by other leaders of the two groups said: “Chief Uwazurike’s appeal was “an expression full of insincerity.” The groups’ statement made available to newsmen by Mr. Uchenna Madu, and spokesman of IPOB Mr. Emma Powerful on behalf of other leaders, also alleged that “Uwazurike has never liked Mr. Kanu because he (Kanu) is becoming more popular, consistent and trusted by Biafra agitators,” adding that “in Uwazurike’s mind, he is happy with Kanu’s ordeal in the hands of the Federal Government .” Chief Uwazurike while addressing loyalists and friends of MASSOB who stormed Owerri for the third anniversary of the exit of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, which had Ojukwu’s wife, Chief Bianca Ojukwu, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun and Major Hamza Al- Mustapha in attendance had called for Nnamdi Kanu’s release. “We do not believe in Uwazuruike’s call for Mr. Kanu’s release, just as we condemn the speech at Ojukwu Memorial ceremony where he also said that some people claiming to be champions in their little knowledge, forget that Igboland is landlocked and the five states of South East contribute less than eight per cent of the economy of Nigeria. That is the height of his deceit that he is actually fighting for the actualization of Biafra. It is a statement of somebody that has been compromised, and should not be taken serious. “That statement was indirectly encouraging the Nigeria government to continue their detention and persecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the current Biafra hero. If not, how can somebody like Uwazurike be making such comments and he wants people to take him serious? We saw where he was going and we decided to leave him,” they said. Discrediting agitators Chief Simon Okeke, who was the former PSC chairman regretted that some Igbo leaders had been discrediting the youths agitating for the sovereign state of Biafra. He said: “The war is over, we have all integrated into Nigerian, there was the doctrine of ‘no victor, no vanquished,’ so the Nigerian experiment has been going on. I have served as PSC chairman and even after that, I have been in pursuit of progress of Nigeria, starting with peace and progress in Igbo land. I think we should stay together as a country, but issues of Igbo marginalization and victimization are real. They are there and very glaring and must be addressed, but not with violence and incessant protests. “Sometimes truth can be bitter, but it must be told. There are certain pronouncements from Igbo elders that can be very infuriating and dishonourable of someone that calls himself an elder. “I have always spoken aloud, I have always said that our Igbo elders should correct the youths early when they are going astray, but they seem to be keeping silent. Their silence is what I have always called ‘criminal silence.’ “If you see the young ones going astray and fail to speak out, your silence is criminal.,” he said. Discussing with Buhari Meantime, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, weekend, revealed that the governors of the South East geo-political zone had taken a decision to discuss issues revolving around the recent agitation by IPOB in the country. Governor Umahi made this known when he received the leadership of the Abakpa Main Market Traders Association at the Government House in Abakaliki. According to Umahi, the South-East governors had listened to the complaints of the agitators and had decided to discuss the issues with the President. “We have listened to the complaints of the boys. There is no way anybody would say that what they are saying is completely outside the truth, but just like husband and wife, you must have a way of getting along through dialogue. “The governors of the South-East have taken up the matter with Mr. President and I believe that we don’t need another war in this country. I want to plead with you to encourage whoever is involved that we have taken up the matter and we will do everything possible to make sure that their feelings are addressed. “We should not support secession. We should not support demonstrations; we should not support the castigation of our leaders.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/biafra-ohanaeze-seeks-unconditional-release-of-radio-biafra-boss/ |

I just got this from a from the comment page of vanguard newspaPer and decided to share with fellow Nigerian Youth. Read on! Dear AREWA Youths, Do you know why some of us don't blink anymore at the Boko haram activities and never talk about it? I cannot be crying more than the bereaved. I cringe every time the "bomb goes boom" then I weep for the dead and moved on. The Arewa youths are the blankest people I know. My apologies to the few sensible ones first of all if there are any. Your number is being reduced drastically and under your watch Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen snatched the first and the fourth position as the most deadly terror groups in the world. Everybody call you names. Your daughters and sons are either being used as bomb detonators or being decimated by bombs. You don't feel ashamed rather you are energized whenever you hear about BIAFRANS’ quest to break away from the shackle called Nigeria (ZOO). You have never for one day risen in anger against the bastardization of your land. Your land is flowing with blood. Blood that will one day speak against you. You have not asked yourself, why am I not as fearless as Biafrans who criticize their elders whenever they perceive them placing their interest against interest of their people. You see us attack our own and they shake in fear, you never speak against yours because you think it is their sole right to be powerful, while you remain impoverished. Your fellow youths were blown to smithereens days ago because somebody was sharing ordinary five hundred Naira, youths with potentials were killed. Why are you not angry? I wonder why you never protested against injustices, poverty, neglect and senseless deaths in your land rather you are always prompt to hold meetings to issue senseless and ridiculous statements against Biafran youths who are simply asking for freedom of one of their own, perceived injustices in their land and the right for self determination under the international law. Not a bomb has been dropped, not a single bullet has been fired. That mammoth crowd has been protesting peacefully for three weeks now. Yet you with the Iroko tree in your eyes want to remove tiny grain of sand from Biafran eyes. Then you wonder why we always hold you in contempt and abhor any association with you. Ask yourselves again what the oil has against water. Your region is blessed with so much vast land. You have the real gold in agriculture but your people are suffering most from malnutrition. When there is an outbreak of an epidemic it starts with you. Your leaders have been in power for over 36 years since the zoo (Nigeria) was granted flag independent by her British creator. The Nigerian state is 55 years mind you, yet you are the poorest region. You have children who wake up in the morning and hit the road to beg, yet you are not ashamed. You wanted power so much. It has been given back to you. You have had it for six months now, and guess who is suffering most? You! Have you ever asked yourselves why? The rich among you are very rich and powerful from the money stolen from public treasury. They hand you peanuts and you prostrate for them. They dash you crumbs you rejoice and ready to carry out their instructions to attack anyone or group who speak against their evil. Out of your ignorant you sing praises and protect those who have impoverished you. Ask those of your brothers who have left to BIAFRALAND to make a living why they never come home unless it is time to find a wife or do something else. They will confirm to you they discovered equity, fairness and motivation to be master of their own because we love liberty and freedom. I can understand your natural system which is feudalism but in today’s advance world you should strive to be self sufficient. In contrast Biafrans are naturally libertarian. We love freedom and independent, that is the reason our continue existence with people who believe in feudalism in the same country with conflicting values is a very big threat to our continue existence. That is one of the reasons we will do everything to restore our home land stolen from us when the evil British created Nigeria. Mind you Nigeria was created for neither you nor me. Rather it was for British business establishment and interest. I wonder why many of you want to die defending what is alien to you. Wake up!!!! Do the right thing!!! Take the shackles off your feet!!!! Fight for your future!! Stand up for yourselves!!! Reclaim your ancient home; Jettison this white-man enslavement called Nigeria so you could reason like human to build a future for yourselves and generation to come. Nothing will ever improve in your lives if you continue to depend on Biafra oil field and gas because those fossil fuels do not build civilization rather your ability to use your brain. Finally Biafran youths will never compromise their resolve to restore her nation no matter what anybody does. Tell your Buhari to release our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu he kidnapped. And if not there is an impending doom that will befall the zoo and everyone will suffer the consequences. |
