Education › Re: 2 Reasons Why Your GPA Matters In Nigeria And 1 Reason Why It Doesn’t by Profeme: 7:48pm On May 16, 2015*. Modified: 8:04pm On May 16, 2015 |
cowleg: Well After all my readings, night class, burnt candles i manage to garner a cgpa of 3.51 then my happiness of making second class upper was cut short when i saw my cgpa as compiled by my department as 3.41, All avenues to correct it was negative, i have to accept the cgpa.
Most of the girls that wrote from me, made 2.1, even those i taught in my class. I strongly want cgpa to be scrapped cos i cant believe that a brainy dude like me having 3.41 will be placed on same class of degree with corky guys that do not attend lectures but rely on expo to make 2.51. You cannot have a 3.51 CGPA and somebody tells you that your CGPA is 3.41 and you just accept it though you said all avenues to correct them proved abortive. Dont you have evidence to support your claims? Don't you have all the records of your result from your 100 level to your final year?If you do then nobody should deny you your rightful result. You could have even applied to Exams and Records unit to make the necessary corrections. |

psalmsjob: Life is still innocent its the people that lost their innocence. And we pass those books on to our siblings then but not anymore now the educational sector is commercialize that almost every school has its own note books, text-books and work-books being changed every term.
#WeNeedChange #LetsVoteForChange #VoteForBuhari Indeed the condition students find themselves is very deplorable. The level of commercialization in the educational sector especially in private schools is very alarming. |

Education › Re: Most Annoying Thing A Lecturer Ever Did To You ? by Profeme: 2:43pm On Feb 19, 2015 |
Zico0: My experience was with some woman, an administrative staff in the school. At one point i thought she was dissing me cause she knew i know she wasn't my type.
Ok I go into her office to submit a file, she opened the file, and she screamed at me: don't i know i was supposed to come with the original copies. I collected my file and left her office. I didn't feel bad and i knew was to blame. I didn't have those original copies on me which meant i had to return the next day.
Second day, i walked into her office; she said you with the umbrella again: I had an umbrella in my pocket the last time. She asked why i had to return and i answered i didn't have the original copies of my docs. I gave her my file, she scanned through my documents back and forth twice and said three documents are missing. Today i didn't even know where to get those documents which meant i had to return the next day, again.
Third day, as a sharp guy i had manage to get those 3 docs she requested for. Today she already knew my face. She asked why i had to return and replied. I gave her my file, she scanned back and forth, again and again, as if to find an inadequacy. She didn't find any , so she closed the file i was going to breathe a sigh of relief when she asked don't i know i was supposed to attach a photocopy of one particular doc. on the front cover of my file to ease categorization. I was like what the...!!! I was going to say "you said i didn't need photocopies" when she shouted at me to leave. I just stood staring at her. She had a female visitor who gestured for me to leave. She reacted, saying in yoruba, "leave him, let him be staring at me". I had to return the next day.
Fourth day, i went very early to her office. When we met, she said to come back later in the day; she didn't have time to attend to me, she was very busy. 2 hours later i returned, gave her my file, she scanned back and forth and threw the file at me. She said the documents are not in order. I went outside her office and rearrange my documents. I was going in when i realised i forgot to insert two other documents. I had to unloose the whole thing(the file was perforated) to insert those two documents in order. I went in, she scanned my documents back and forth, she hissed and accepted my file. I told her she was a nice person and she said 9ice ko 2face ni. Then i left. I like your persistence and patience. Some will have reacted harshly and will be the loser at the end. |

Education › Re: This Is A Mathematics Braintest... by Profeme: 7:02pm On Feb 08, 2015 |
Olayemie: This is a Mathematics brain test...
A girl went to school and the teacher asked how old are you?
She replied I don't know bt I know that I'm half my mother's age.
The teacher asked OK how old is your mother?
She said I don't know but I know that my dad is 5 Years older than my mother.
The teacher, then ask how old is your dad?
She said I don't know but I know that if we add our ages the answer is 100 yrs...
Now how old is the girl, her mum, & her dad?
Stress ur brain a little. If u fail u make me ur profile pix 4 2days. Your time starts now... happy sunday everyone... This is called a word problem leading to algebraic equation in Mathema . tics. Solving the problem algebraically, you can deduce that girl's age is 19, her mum's age is 38 while her father's age is 43. Let me show all workings here: Let the girl's age = y/2, her mum's age = y and her father's age = y+ 5 Adding their ages : y/2 + y +(y+5) = 100 Taking the LCM : y+ 2y+ 2y+10 = 200 Collecting like terms : 5y= 190 ie y = 19 , meaning the girl's age is 19 years. You get her parents ages by simple arithmetic. |

Education › Re: Hnd Is Equivalent To A Bsc by Profeme: 7:33pm On Dec 30, 2013 |
pharmow: All what I see here is a typical Nigerian ego flexing where one feels he is superior to others. Is only in Nigeria that you will see where people of a particular tribe claim superiority over another tribe. The same applies to religion and every other things they can use to show superiority. I believe this is as a result of low self esteem. Talking about the issue at hand, though Bsc is not the same as HND just as NCE is not the same with HND. Each of these qualifications has a purpose they serve and it's a pity that the government of yester years and now aren't channeled these purposes into building a great nation Nigeria should have become. However, by looking at the number of credits passed to get HND program, the OP is not wrong to have said HND is equivalent to BSc in number of credit earned.
Another valid thing to point out here is that you having Bsc doesn't make you better than someone with HND. Nigerians in North America here can attestify to this fact that someone having MBA for example cannot demean another with Diploma because without those people with technical qualifications, you cannot carry out your duties in an organization; and that is the way a normal system works. I totally agree with you |

Ujujoan: Actually what surprises me is the fact that you would even consider keeping the money in the first place . . .
Going to the extent of calling the owners meant you were expecting something in return and that is wrong . . . You should have just reported to the bank and let them sort their problem out!
Na wah . . . There is nothing one can do to satisfy everyone. You reported to the bank and made efforts to get to the root of the problem ... Some are not happy with that. You collected 20k ...still some are not satisfy wit that. If you have not collected the money, some will still not be ok. @OP I believe you did the right thing. May God bless you. |

I dont quite agree with you. I believe your performance depends on you and the kind of work involved. In my own case I combined the two and came out with an excellent result. gabriel212: Running a full time programme in any of the Nigeria University couple with work is impossibe but in some cases, guys run it succesfully at the detriment of their result. Also, the lecturers will frustrate you once aware you are working and schooling unless you are running full time with international school on the Internet or part time courses in Nigeria school. |
