It is not a pastor who joins a couple. Bible says , "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder" Mark 9:10.

I paid my wife bride price in January. Food and drinks were provided for the guest. The late father, represented by the brother handed my woman to me as wife. The village king and members of the kindred were there including my wife's mother and my family.

We finished everything and I took my wife to my village Afikpo in Ebonyi State.

Jejely and nwayoly we entered Lagos and some people be like "When you go do the white wedding?" and I am like " Wait you go soon get IV for the rainbow wedding , na only white you like?" As if I had just gone to play tumbo tumbo in the village.... Shioor

When we knelt before the parent of my wife and prayer was made for us, who was the prayer directed to? Is it another God somewhere? Isnt it thesame God the pastor will call on. Or is the God different?

Where is it written in the bible that a pastor must join couples. Mind you, the joining of a couple is spiritual, it is not what the pastor does on the pulpit. It is God who joins, I cannot repeat this enough.

Did Jesus, Peter, Paul or any of the apostles join anybody? I wonder where we got this junk from.

We have made the word of God of no effect because of men's tradition, that has gradually made it way into the church.

The Muslim who don't do church wedding has less number of divorce compared to we Christian who do the so called " Christian or White wedding".

FYI I am a believer by God's grace. I have my wife living with me as I speak. I feel no sense of guilt. The bible is clear on this. Lets not put yoke and unecessary burden upon people.

See the rate of promiscuity around us. Just because young men are afraid of the cost of getting married.

If a pastor feels its necessary to bless the couple. Simply call them out after Sunday service and do that and lets stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

If you can pay the bride price and have the parent of your wife release her to you, my friend you are married. Forget the ceremony, if you have the cash, do it. If not, my brother start planning your family.

A 3 bedroom flat is around 700k now in Lagos, car is close to a million depending on your choice. School fees, pampers, NEPA bill, Lawma, Feeding etc are pending.

Please Nigerians let's stand up against what i call Tinubutocrazy, i define Tinubutocrazy as a system of government where one greedy person wants to impose his will on his nation by fire by force. You need to read the bible very well and let it form your opinion.

Marriage is not valid after the dowry is paid. You're wrong in that regard.

When you pay a woman's dowry, she becomes bethroted (espoused) to you. But that doesn't mean she is married to you.

In the bible, there is no such thing as dating. What we have is bethrotal and marriage.

When you pay her dowry, she becomes bethroted to you, but she still remains in her father's house. It is after marriage that the two of you can now live together and consummate the union without it being sin.

Matthew 1v8 - Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Can you see? Being espoused or bethroted is different from coming together (that is living together and consummating the union).

It should be noted that marriages are consummated on the wedding night. So if Mary was still not with Joseph even after being espoused to him, then bethrotal is not marriage, and paying her dowry doesn't mean she can live with you much less consummate.

Just as a child and a temple must be dedicated to God by a priest before the child can be named and before the house can be opened. A union between a man and a woman must also be dedicated to God before witnesses (the church) no matter how small; by a servant of God.

Paying her dowry does not make your union consummatable just yet before God. Bethrotal is different from marriage. Bethroral is when you pay her dowry and she becomes espoused to you. Marriage is when you come together and the union can now be consummated without it being fornication.

This has nothing to do with traditional or white wedding, it is about how things are made valid in the eyes of God.

Does it mean that if i sleep with wife after paying dowry is sin? Is it until a pastor pray for my marriage before i sleep wit my wife?

I was teaching some weeks back on marriage, i told my audience that marriage is valid as soon dowry is paid. The scriptures recognizes traditional marriage. I told them that a man is free to sleep with hi wife as soon as dowry is paid.
I told them that white wedding is not scriptural and it is not biblical doctrine but church doctrine. It is high time we stop keeping people in bondage through a church doctrine

Permit me to respond to this and similar posts that suggest PMB is touring this period.
In my opinion and maybe for those that may not have been opportuned to travel out for leisure or tourism, locations like Niger and Chad are not in anyway tourist destinations. It is unfair and rather stupid for people to suggest that PMB is busy touring and enjoying himself while BH is carrying out attacks. Clearly, he knows there is lot of expectations, so let us allow him to carry out his strategy.
With less than a week in power, any immediate response to BH attacks would be no different than what GEJ has been doing all this while that has not been effective in eradicating BH. An adage says its only a mad man that expects a different result when doing the same things over again.
The loss of lives is sad but let us allow PMB strategise and plan coordinated efforts to eradicate BH. Any reasonable and objective person should know that such plans cant take 1 week!
PLEASE PRAY FOR PMB AND NIGERIA AND STOP THESE SILLY COMMENTS
